Two full-size balconies, both with full glass sliding doors, give you a spectacular view of the sea. Enjoy miles of clean, uncrowded beaches on South Hutchinson Island Florida... The way it used to be! Surf fishing is a popular past time of my guests when they're not enjoying many of the other great things to do.

I offer a secure one bedroom condominium which can accommodate up to four people. There are two f...ull size balconies overlooking the beach. It has an oversized bedroom with king bed, living room with sofa bed, linen supply, dining area, separate kitchen with full-size appliances as well as dishes, pots, and utensils, etc. In addition, it also has two cable TVs, two DVD and CD players, movie library, private phone with answer service and free WiFi computer signal. Laundry facilities are located on the premises.

Enjoy the oceanside heated swimming pool with picnic areas and barbecue grills. Also for your pleasure is a restaurant and lounge with oceanside Tiki Bar for lunch or dinner. After dinner, enjoy nightly entertainment or take a walk on the beach.

History of Jensen Beach............

Your footprints are the latest of many layers of history's residents in the sandy soil of Jensen Beach. The first prints arrived about 10,000 years ago, when the Ais Indians moved here to live by the Indian River Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean.

They dug canoes out of tree trunks, and caught migrating whales in the ocean by jumping on their backs and pounding wooden plugs into their blowholes. They gathered berries and plants, hunted bear, deer and other game that abounded. By 1775, European settlers diseases led to the death of the tribe.

About 1565, Spaniards sailed down the Indian River, seeking shipwreck survivors and trying to convert the Indians. They built a fort, naming it St. Lucie. In 1811, the Spanish governor of Florida issued a land grant to James Hutchinson. The island was named Hutchinson Island. The growing tribe of Seminole Indians were ruining his crops and stealing his livestock on the mainland, so he moved to the island. It was no safer, as pirates raided Hutchinson's plantation, damaged his crops and stole his slaves. Hutchinson drowned later in a storm at sea.

Following three Seminole Indian Wars, settlers began homesteading land from Sewall's Point north to the Sebastian River in the 1840s. Crops spoiled, due to irregular transport by coastal schooner to northern markets. Fresh water from the St. Lucie River killed the saltwater fish grasses flourished and oyster beds died. In 1844, the homesteaders dug an inlet at Gilbert's Bar, a narrow neck of land at the St. Lucie River. The Indian River's salinity returned, and the fishing industry flourished.

Blockade runners and federal gunboats were active off the coast during the Civil War. A strong support for the Confederacy in St. Lucie Village led to the removal of the lights from the Jupiter and Cape Florida lighthouses, making navigation difficult for the Union gunboats.

In 1879, Capt. Thomas E. Richards established his homestead at Eden, planting pineapple slips on his plantation. The slips flourished, and the pineapple industry was born. John Laurence Jensen, an immigrant from Denmark, arrived in 1881, and set up his pineapple plantation, which became the town of Jensen.

Capt. Richards had the largest pineapple plantation on the Indian River. The fruit was packed in barrels and boxes at the packing house, loaded on riverboats, and transported to Titusville, the southern terminus of the FEC Railroad. By 1894, Flagler's Florida East Coast Railroad reached Jensen Beach, and freight shipments were loaded directly on the freight cars.

By 1895, Jensen was called the "Pineapple Capital of the World," shipping over one million boxes of pineapples each year during the June and July season. A pineapple factory was established.

Pioneer R.R. Ricou and Sons operated fish houses all along the Indian Riverfront, shipping as many as 200 barrels of fish daily, plus carloads of bottom fish and mackerel. There was also an ice manufacturing plant in Jensen.

My Condo 307 rental is one of the best, but I continue to make it even better.

The kitchen has been completely remodeled and new appliances have been installed.

I have a film library with over 40 movies to choose from. The bathroom has also been remodeled and in the bedroom you can watch the beach and ocean while having your morning coffee, watching the bedroom TV or just plain relaxing in bed.

  This condo could not have been more perfect. It had everything you could want to be comfortable in a home away from home. You open the door to a lovely, cheerful, clean, and welcoming apartment. The ocean is straight ahead and being able to sit on the balcony and read and relax to the sound of the waves was wonderful. A lot of thought was given to the kitchen which had all updated cabinets, counter, etc The owners obviously take very good care of their property and have thought about what their guests could need or want during their stay. We will definitely return. The restaurant on the property is Shuckers and the food was delicious and the staff everywhere warm and friendly.

  Terrific Ocean View Vacation

  My husband and I stayed in condo 401. We chose it because I wanted to be right on the ocean and because my husband's walking is slow, so he needs easy access and an elevator. I would rate it a. The two balconies, off the living-room and the bedroom, afford an unblocked view of the ocean. The sliding doors allow lots of sea air into the flat. The furnishings are comfortable and attractively chosen -- lots of white, huge closet, comfortable super-king sized bed, lazy boy chairs for vegging out, in short. a feeling of serenity. The look is pulled together, and cleverly done, with lots of drawers and built-ins. The kitchen is clean and well-appointed so we could mostly eat in, taking advantage of fresh fish from The New England Market. The building laundry room downstairs is very clean, and the staff helpful. I had some work to do, so was happy that the WiFi worked well. The only downside for me is the on-site restaurant, whose roof and venting system faces the ocean, so sometimes there is the smell of grease from the vents, and the sound of loud music, which does not last long. Otherwise our unit was very quiet. The restaurant, Shuckers, is quite tasty. We would stay there again.

  Every thing about our stay in 401 was perfect and better than we could have dreamed of. The location, decor, cleanliness, and every detail had us believing we had to come back and stay longer. I couldn't get enough of waking to the sunrise over the Ocean right out my door, walking on the beach every day and evening, and the convenience of Shukers, Publix, etc. Thank you for letting us stay!

  The Island Beach Resort has units that face the front of the building (to the street, in the direction of sunset) and the back of the building (to the beach, in the direction of sunrise). We stayed in a unit facing the beach. The view from each of the two ocean front balconies, one off the living room and the other off the master bedroom, is as good as it gets. Watching sunrise, sipping coffee, dining, reading, ocean gazing, and people watching all are great from the balconies. Between you and the beach are only the comfortable, good sized pool, and two grilling areas. We used one of the grilling areas, and the convenience was quite a plus. The grounds, pool, and grilling areas are well groomed and tended. Shuckers is attached on the northward end of the building. It's a good restaurant, dining room, bar, and tiki bar. We took in the live music there two times during the week, including a 3 hour dance to a 17 piece big swing band with female vocalist. Very convenient, particularly if you feel like having one more drink than you should for driving. Just walk through the halls back to your unit. The beach is actively used for shelling, sun bathing, walking, swimming, boogie boarding, and surfing. Yes, surfing, as in standing up. There was enough wave for those who know how to catch a wave. For most lunched we drove our rental car to the many fine restaurants in Stuart, Jensen Beach and once even to Vero Beach. The Island Beach Resort’s location makes these trips handy enough, and fun in a convertible. With so many features directly onsite, it is difficult to beat the value per dollar of staying here. The people attracted here are active, fun loving, and friendly, but also respectful and non-disruptive. You will find peace and relaxation along with activity. The business dealings with the owner of the unit where we stayed were punctual, friendly, and honest.
