The location is a trek up numerous stairs or a simple taxi ride. Either way, it is well worth it!! The view over Hvar town is stunning, especially at sunset!
The hosts are sensational- humorous and full of information!!
There is a garden kitchen which comes in handy!
The balcony is so lovely to have! We spent a lot of time earing, drinking and enjoying the view out there! -

We stayed here for 9 nights and had the most wonderful time. After a long and hot day travelling, it was a fantastic relief to arrive, be greeted warmly and taken to a lovely, very clean apartment. The bed was really comfortable, the bathroom was fresh and new and we also had a small kitchen with a hob, fridge and equipment for preparing food. The balcony had beautiful sea views and was ideal for sitting out and reading during the very hot middle of the day, as well as for a glass of wine before heading out for a meal!
There is a shop close by which has all the essentials and to get to the sea front is 5-10 minutes walk. It was great to be very slightly out of the centre (though the centre was only a very short walk as well) as it meant we weren't bothered by any noise from the bars or clubs.
During our time here, we went on one of ante's winetasting tours which was fantastic - a great way to see Hvar and his cousin filled us in on the history and culture of the island as he drove us. We ended up in a winecellar with just the two of us, the vineyard owner (amazing guy in his 70s!) and our guide who took us through the wines. It was a really fantastic experience and thoroughly recommend!
I have to mention that, on our last night, Ante's lovely mother and father cooked us a superb 3 course meal with a bottle of wine (complimentary!) which was really special as well as cooked to perfection. We cannot praise ante and his family highly enough - they are kind, fun and make this place feel like a home from home at the same time as giving you the privacy you want.
An incredible holiday made so by this fantastic family and their apartment. -

We took a chance and headed out to Hvar during our two week stay in Croatia because the weather was so amazingly good in December. We knew everyone raved about the island, especially Hvar Town, so we wanted a place as close as possible to the water and the town itself. We phoned ahead just to be sure ante's place would be open and really enjoyed talking with him, so we booked it for the weekend. When we arrived, Ante was there to greet us and the house, which is really a family compound with a main house and two apartments, was exactly what we wanted. The whole place had just been renovated but still had the charm and character we wanted. We stopped to buy some wine and provisions but when we got the house, Ante had stocked the fridge not only with some great wine, but some of his mom's home cooked Dalmatian specialties. What a surprise, to feel so welcomed! As we sat out on the terrace in the 60 degree temperature in December! we realized that Hvar was not only a little bit of paradise, but the Lacman's were what made it so special. Ante's love for Hvar not only helped us enjoy some of the island's more hidden beauty, but appreciate how people like the Lacman's work so hard to protect their heritage and share it with people they hardly know. We can't wait to come back in the summer!
