Left on 06/13/2013 for a stay in May 2013

We enjoyed ten days in the larger of the two apartments in May/June 2013. The apartment was clean and spacious with two balconies and a shared terrace. There are great views from the main balcony to the nearby islands.

The apartment had everything we required including wooden cot, fridge, oven, microwave and dishwasher. We found the bath useful for bathing our toddler. The flat was safe for our 23 month old son who loved pointing out what he could see from the balconies.

We received a warm and friendly welcome from the owner, who lives downstairs. We received lifts to and from the port as well as 'welcome' gifts such as delicious home-made orange marmalade. Such touches were appreciated. Thank you Ela Marija for your hospitality.

The apartment is only a minute or two's walk from a couple of small local coves where we were able to swim. The Hula-Hula sunset bar is also 1-2 minute's walk away. We enjoyed going to this bar and although you could occasionally hear their music whilst on the balcony, it was neither loud nor annoying and always ended by 9pm.

The apartment is an enjoyable 10-15 minutes walk into Hvar Town along a scenic coastal path passing bars, a hotel and a playground. It is worth noting that there are some steps leading to the apartment that may not be suitable for everybody.

There is a supermarket just 50m away from the apartment which had everything we needed.

All in all, this was the perfect apartment for a holiday in beautiful Hvar Town. Recommended!

      Comfortable, relaxing, well situated rental

Left on 10/11/2012 for a stay in September 2012

This ground floor apartment provided a perfect base for our stay in Hvar Town area. A small beach and beach bars were very near by and it was an easy, flat, pedestrianised 10-15 min walk into Hvar town proper. The garden provided a lovely shaded place to relax.
Our hosts were very helpful, collecting us from the ferry, providing a proper wooden baby cot and transporting us back to the ferry when we left. The homemade marmalade waiting for us was on arrival was a real treat. We would visit again.

2 balconies! terrace, great view, well equipped and sooo helpful

Left on 10/02/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We stayed here for 3 nights and the apartment was very comfortable and well equipped. There was a cot provided, 2 balconies - the main balcony with a fabulous view of the sunset over the Pakleni Islands. Apartment was safe for our 2 year old. Marija couldn't have been more helpful, picking us up from the boat and dropping us at the bus station, finding out bus times and booking an onward taxi and contacting the host of our next apartment! only possible gripe was that the wifi reception was poor. Even though we weren't mad about Hvar town (too touristy), this apartment was excellent. Very good value to at 40 euros a night.

A lovely apartment in a great location in Hvar Town

Left on 09/26/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We had a fabulous stay at this lovely apartment on the west side of Hvar Town. The owners are genuinely welcoming and helpful and it was the little touches that made the difference. We were met off our catamaran in the harbour and driven to the apartment.Incidentally, we were also given a lift into town on the day our departure which was very kind of the owners!). There was a jar of homemade marmalade, a bag of lavender, chocolates and a selection of tea and coffee on the kitchen table when we arrived - a lovely touch!

The beach is literally a stone's throw away from the apartment and, conveniently, there's a small supermarket just around the corner where you can pick up all the basics. We went into town ( a 15 minute walk) for a bigger choice - here you'll find a a daily market selling fresh fruit and veg, bakeries and a larger supermarket .

Inside the apartment is spacious, well equipped and has two balconies. The one off the kitchen catches the morning sunshine and the one off the bedroom is sunny for most of the day and a great place to watch the sun set over the sea.

Hvar Town is beautiful with its Venetian style buildings, bustling harbour and vibrant cafes, bars and restaurants. Perhaps on the best things we did was hire a small motorboat for the day. Once we'd got the hang of mooring, we had great fun exploring the Pakleni islands which are stunning. Some are completely uninhabited while others have small beaches and a cafe.

All in all, I was really pleased with the apartment and enjoyed out stay here.

This is the best holiday apartment I have stayed in.

Left on 09/16/2012 for a stay in September 2012

Apartment Ela Marija is in a modern, purpose-built block which is an easy, 15 minute stroll down to the picturesque centre of Hvar Town. The owners live in the lower two floors and there are two apartments on the top floor, which has a large rear terrace with a beautiful view of the sunset over the sea.
Our bedroom was spacious and comfortable with a large balcony with a superb sea-view. It is a great place to sit with a drink and watch / photograph the sunset.
There is a large, very well-equipped kitchen-diner with a comfortable sofa-bed. It also has free wifi and satellite tv. From this room you walk onto a small balcony which gets the morning sun - a lovely place for breakfast.
The bathroom has the usual shower and a bath, which is unusual in this type of property. The apartment is air-conditioned but we let the sea-breezes do the job.
The nearest beach is a 5 minute walk and there is a useful small supermarket also about 5 minutes away. This is well-stocked and offers very drinkable local wines for 25 kune for 1.5 litres - do not worry about the plastic bottles, this is good-quality table wine.
On arrival, we were met at the ferry dock and driven to the apartment. The same free service was provided on departure.
When we return to Hvar, this is where we will stay.

Left on 09/12/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We enjoyed south-facing apartment upstairs – next door’s faced west so would have got hot. We also saw inside the basement apartment, lovely with front patio shaded by trees. We were met at boat and driven with cases to front door, also done in reverse on departure – a huge bonus in heat (or rain) especially since both times at no charge. One private balcony off bedroom with another off living/dining, plus large communal (99% vacant) terrace under shade of vine leaves, offering views of sea, sunrise and set. ‘Welcome’ note accompanied by jar of delicious home-made bitter orange marmalade, bag of lavender, wrapped chocolates, 4 Nestle cappuccino coffee pouches. Kitchen had cling-wrap and other useful stuff not usually offered in B&Bs.; Located in well-to-do residential area, doof-doof noise from coastal HulaHula Beachclub was audible (according to wind) from start 6pm to end 10pm but never caused concern – 18-30 year-olds would have a ball there! 5 mins walk to nearest ‘beach’ (buy swimshoes to overcome razor sharp stone) away from town or 12 mins to even more deserted bay, past a laid-back bar playing Mexican music and offering unbeatable and unrestricted views of sunset over the sea. 10 min walk to the wonderfully atmospheric Old City, so it’s a great location. Marija speaks good English and, along with her brother, is very helpful. We loved our 5 nights here!

We had a most enjoyable stay in Hvar. Marija's apartment was comfortable with a very pretty garden, perfect for relaxing in the shade. It was a few minutes walk down some steps to the sea and a ten to fifteen minute attractive walk into town. Hvar town is very lively with plenty of restaurants and it is also easy to get a water taxi to the beautiful Pakleni Islands for swimming and relaxing. Marjia and her brother were extremely hospitable and we greatly appreciated being collected from and taken to the ferry.

Marija and her family were the perfect hosts and couldn't have been more welcoming. The apartment is 5 mins from the waterfront/stony beach and to Hula Hula beach bar. It's about 15 mins into town- pleasant waterfront walk!
Apartment is gorgeous- extremely well equipped, 2 huge balconies and a terrace!

Second time in Hvar and would definately stay here again!

Gorgeous apartment, gorgeous view, beautiful town - a week to re

Left on 07/02/2012 for a stay in June 2012

My girlfriend and I recently spent a week in Hvar, in the last week of June just before the high season kicked in.

We stayed at Marija's apartment, which is on the top floor of a lovely house overlooking the vast adriatic and the nearby Pakleni Islands, basically one of the best views you can get in Hvar!

I would thoroughly recommend this apartment to anyone, it is clean, bright, has two lovely bedrooms, both which look out onto the large balcony. It's right near Hula Hula bar where you can watch the sunset and have cocktails, before the 15-20 minute, but very picturesque walk, into Hvar Town. It's also dead quiet, the only noise you get is the happy hour noise from Hula Hula bar but that doesn't go on very late.

And if you're looking for a real feel of Hvar this is the place - we were picked up from Starigrad as we missed the Catamaran and had to get the ferry instead (Catamaran goes straight to Hvar Town), and Marija's brother Theo came to pick us up and bring us to the apartment. We also got a lift from her cousin to the Catamaran stop on our last day, a lifesaver as it was about 35 degrees, too hot to be carrying luggage around! Oh and there is a little supermarket 2 mins walk away which sells everything you need if you want to cook in - not that you'd want to, we were spoilt for choice of restaurants, Luna in particular being a highlight.

As well as a welcome pack including homemade marmalade and fresh lavender, Marija also bought our Catamaran tickets for us (we paid of course) on the day before last as you need to get these a day in advance. She made us feel extremely welcome and for a couple, or even a family staying here it is perfect, we couldn't have asked for more!

I realise this sounds like I work for the Croatia tourist board or something, but this apartment generally made our holiday - I will definitely come back to Hvar and most likely stay here again if Marija will have us!

Fantastic apartment, lovely owner, couldn't have asked for more!

Left on 07/01/2012 for a stay in May 2012

Communication beforehand via email with the owner Marija had been very easy and her English is great. The warmest welcome we could hope for - Marija's brother met us off our catamaran and drove us 'home'.
And when i say 'home' - that really was the feeling we got on our arrival! Marija very thoughtful - there was milk, ice tea and water in the fridge, plus some other essentials, and the nicest touch was the home-made bitter orange marmalade made from Marija's orange tree!

Really relaxed atmosphere. Self-contained apartment, really spacious, clean and homely. Three balconies (no joke!) - one of which was solely for our use, stunning view of the sea and nearby islands.
Kitchen, bathroom and bedroom fully equipped, and lovely clean comfy bedding.
Marija's house is so nice, with lovely garden with trees and flowers.
Really quiet and serene. The area is just west of Hvar town, a really nice 15 minute walk along the sea into town. Quite hilly and a few steps, in fact Croatia is so not great for visitors with any mobility issues.
Hvar island really is stunning - clean, classy, really respectful people. Accommodation out of season is quite reasonable, and self-catering seems the way forward.
Restaurants were a bit more pricey, given general living/accommodation costs are much less than the UK. Croation food is yummy - and quite good for vegetarians too. Transport to the island from Split is easy (1 hour on catamaran), and not expensive.
I imagine it all gets quite busy and hot later in june and through the summer.
We loved Hvar town, loads of atmosphere and the people are really cool. We hired a car for a day to get out to the best sea spots/other towns. Really interesting history - can't believe it's taken us this long to visit Croatia!

We had a really really lovely time, thanks to Marija - a kind and helpful lady who went out of her way to give us a perfect relaxing stay. Many many thanks, and we hope to return!

      Brilliant find, great value.

We had a wonderful stay! The apartment was spacious, immaculately clean and even had three balconies (one for each meal of the day!). Our host was really welcoming and there were some lovely touches to the apartment when we arrived, like home-made (home grown!) bitter orange marmalade and refreshments waiting in the fridge. There's a small supermarket 5 mins walk up the hill, and a rocky beach to swim from is even closer. The town was a lovely 15 minute dawdle along the seafront, with a few bars on the way and lots of excellent fish restaurants to chose from when you get there. There's a good cocktail bar by the closest beach that is a great place to watch the sun set behind the next headland.

The ideal base for a peaceful stay.

Left on 09/24/2011 for a stay in September 2011

Apartments in Hvar vary greatly by size and the price also depends on the proximity to the centre of town or the shore, or a sea view. The latter was important to us and I found the price of this apartment was very competitive. When I made my first enquiry Marija emailed me straight back to say the one bedroom I had requested had gone but she had another of equal quality and size for the same price. Marija's brother picked us up from the ferry at Stari Grad (a 10 mile drive) and took us to the door. We then found we had been given a huge, spotless two-bedroom apartment with two balconies, kitchen/diner and king size beds. The view of the Pakleni islands was spectacular. The bedroom we used had just been redecorated and was very smart and comfortable. Both rooms had aircon which we needed as it was 32C all week. There was also an oven (rare for Hvar,) a dishwasher, coffee machine, and every conceivable cooking utensil and pan. Marija was very welcoming and we immediately felt part of the home.
We had deliberated about whether to stay in town or to the East or West of it. In the end we made the right decision. We were close to a beautiful little beach, the brilliant Hula Hula and Falko beach bars and a supermarket (also rare.) It is a (beautiful)15-20 min walk into town but you can't stay somewhere nice like this in Hvar without the walk. If you need to be nearer, stay in town but you won't have the beach on your doorstep. At the end of the week Marihja tipped us off about an impending storm which meant we might have missed the Catamaran on the last morning. Her brother kindly bought our tickets and took us back to Stari Grad for the ferry at 5am at no extra charge. We had an amazing week - one of my best holidays ever - and Marija and her family played a huge part in making it such a success. Highly recommended.

Space, good views and a warm welcome

Left on 07/10/2011 for a stay in June 2011

We have just returned from our second holiday in this apartment and would happily stay here again. Although not as modern or stylish as some Hvar apartments, it offers extremely spacious accommodation - a large bedroom, good-sized kitchen/dining room, two balconies plus a shared terrace, and a superb view of the Pakleni islands (which you can enjoy without even getting out of bed!). There is some 'happy hour' noise from a nearby beach bar but only in the early evening and otherwise this is a relatively quiet location, about 10-15 minutes pleasant sea-side walk from the centre and with a small supermarket nearby. There is a small stone beach just a few steps away, although the best swimming is in the lovely bays on the Pakleni islands.

What helped to make our visits so enjoyable was the warm hospitality of the owner Marija and her family, who couldn't have been more helpful. They met and transported us from and to the ferry, which was a great bonus, and when we arrived they had prepared a welcome pack including some home-made goodies.

      Thank you Marija!
