Los Angeles, CAClean house, but not enough amenities and a rude manager.
Left on 01/06/2013 for a stay in December 2012
This is a very clean house in a nice neighborhood, but the furniture is old and uncomfortable. We rented this house for our anniversary at New Year's Eve specifically because it has a huge fireplace. What we weren't told was that there was no way to light a fire in it! It's not gas, the wood supplied was green, and there was no kindling. It wouldn't even light with starters. The lighter was out of fuel (we just happened to have matches).
The manager, when we asked for help, said we should supply our own kindling - How? Bring it in our suitcases? It was snowing, nighttime, and the house is several miles from Idyllwild. She was rude on the phone when we pressed the point, saying we "just don't know how to light a fire." My husband is from Colorado, and has lit hundreds of fires. Then she suggested we just check out entirely. This was a very bad experience for us.
She also had said on the phone that the kitchen was "fully stocked" but in fact it only had dishes in it - but nothing else, not even sugar, coffee, or a plastic bag. You have to pay extra to have the trash you leave removed from the house. Unbelievable.Response from Martha Sanchez (Idyllwild Vacation Cabins!) - 01/06/2013

Customer service is always the most important aspect of my business and so I feel sad that a guest feels I was actually rude. (simply untrue and Not the case). I was unable to build you a fire personally or go buy you different wood, I'm sorry but there was a lot of guests having issues with the snow and safety was my first priority that night. I did give you wood and if you needed to buy some pine to start the fire easier the store was five blocks away. The Cabin also had bags and no we do not say we supply sugar or any other perishable food items.
There is no Trash service in Idyllwild and We only ask that you dont leave large trash bags in or around the house to avoid animals getting into them and littering the property with garbage. Our guests are more than welcome to take the trash to our office and we will take it to the dump for them for no additional charge. However if we make an extra trip to the cabin for trash pickup there is a 15 dollar fee.
The Pine Ridge cabin is a nice mountain cabin with a river rock fireplace no gas ignition and of the 34 properties we manage none have gas starters. It does not say this in the description. However, I did supply for you a small box of fire starters and kindling to start the fire. It does say on the web site that we do not supply wood ,the wood at the cabin is redwood witch I had given to the previous guest because on the last night of their vacation the furnace went out. This problem was immediately fixed I personally brought the wood from my own home because it was late and they had two small children, they had no trouble lighting it to keep the cabin warn so I know the wood was not green, just harder wood to light. There was some left over and I left it at Pine Ridge rather than take it home. Many guests have trouble starting a fire . We went above and beyond our costumer service requirements in this case by providing free wood, fire starters, kindling, and paying someone to shovel this guest out of the house during their stay for no additional charge. We go out of our way to provide everything we can whenever possible.
Sincerely,
Martha Sanchez -

The service was great. The home was perfect for the two of us. We picked this home because of our dogs. The backyard was great and the fencing around the yard was perfect. Every area of the fence was secure. The location was great. It was very close to downtown. We went at a perfect time, the weather was really nice and the cabins were empty around us. Sitting on the deck in the morning drinking a cup of coffee was so enjoyable.

We needed to get away and unwind before the hectic school schedule began. I booked the Pine Ridge cabin and was pleasantly surprised. It was comfortable and had everything we needed. My husband kept thanking me all weekend for forcing us to unwind. We'll be back soon!

We spent a wonderful four days at the Pine Ridge cabin. We enjoyed cooking meals in the kitchen, relaxing on the front porch, watching squirrels in the trees, and letting the dogs play in the back yard.

We love this cabin, and this was the first time to rent through Martha Sanchez. Martha was thoughtful and met all of our needs promptly. We'll be back!
