Situated in the most sheltered part of Ile d’Oleron, La Palmeraie residence villas are at the heart of Saint Georges d’Oleron, 100m from the shops, 3km from the little Port de Douhet and from Plaisance and Gautrelle beaches, which can be reached via a cycleable track that leads right from the residence. For 8km, these fine sandy beaches are bordered by the Saumonards forest which covers a vast area of 60 hectares.

For 8km, these fine sandy beaches are bordered by the Saumonards forest which covers a vast area of 60 hectares.

Residence La Palmeraie, St Georges d’Oleron, is an enclosed domaine with 45 individual high quality, 2 and three bedroom villas, built around a swimming pool and paddling pool, which are open from April to September (weather permitting). The residence was constructed in 2005. There is a reception on site, a laundry, phone box, mountain bikes and 2 children’s play areas.

In the living room, there is a double sofa bed.

The adjoining kitchenette has 4 gas rings, an extractor hood, a microwave oven, a fridge and dish washer as well as all the usual cutlery and crockery, pots and pans.

On the ground floor, there is one bedroom with a double bed and one toilet with wash basin.

On the first floor, there are 2 bedrooms, each with two twin beds. There is a full bathroom with WC.

Facilities

The horse-shoe shaped swimming pool and the paddling pool are open from April to the end of September depending on the weather. Access is free of charge.

Additional Location Information

St Georges d’Oleron is the largest municipality on the island (4600 hectares), stretching its full width and with two coastlines on the east and western shores, flanked by 15km of fine sandy beaches (the most reputed being Plaisance, Gautrelle and Sables VIgnier). It has two sailing ports (le Douhet et Boyardville), and the little town of St Georges Cheray, which was originally built around a roman church dating back to the 11th century and the 19th century market hall which form the heart of the resort.
Ile d’Oleron is surrounded by beautiful sandy beaches, with some rocky areas which are ideal for fishing. Footpaths and cycle or horse riding tracks cut through the forest and ancient salt marshes, which are without doubt the most picturesque countryside on the island, to link Saint Georges with the port of Boyardville (8km away).
Within only a few kilometres, you can find bicycle and scooter hire, jet-ski and water-skiing, scuba diving, horseriding, sailing schools, windsurfing, sea-kayaks, micro-lite flights, Cheray tennis club, mini-golf and a night club at Port de Douhet (3.5km away).
Local Activities
There is a thalassotherapy spa and beauty centre at Saint Trojan, a traditional fishing port and fish auction at la Cotiniere. At Saint Pierre d’Oleron, there is a public 9-hole golf course and 6 hole practice course as well as a bird and animal parc. As you may expect on an island, there are many opportunities for all manner of boat trips from sailing and catamarin trips to motor boat or even tall ships outings. There are excursions to Fort Boyard, the nearby, tiny, Ile d’Aix or La Rochelle and visits to the oyster farmers and Pineau producers.
