Apple Tree Cottage is one of four at La Basse Rouërie; it is a traditional Breton farmhouse and Longere that dates back 600 years in parts.

It is situated on the Brittany, Normandy border in France so you can explore both areas. It is just a 30 min drive from Mont Saint Michel.

The cottage offers beautiful views over the rolling farmland. The private patio opens into the large rear gardens with the shared heated pool, trampoline, boules pit and numerous play items for the children. Our cottage is a dream for families and couples alike. While the other cottages are attached on either side of the property, they each have different... patio areas so are quite private. The interior was totally renovated in 2004 and decorated in a classic French style, with wood flooring in the bedrooms and fully tiled on the ground floor.

The Lounge has a large granite inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove, arched granite windows and front door and timbered ceilings.

The kitchen/ diner has vaulted ceilings and double doors leading to the private patio.

The two double bedrooms have en suite shower rooms. The 3rd bedroom has twin beds and the fourth bedroom has full sized bunk beds. There is another separate shower room. The bedrooms are heated for the colder months and the shower rooms have heated towel rails.

There are two and a half acres of gardens with open views over undulating farmland.

Although there is a private patio area for each cottage with garden furniture, seating, sun canopy and a BBQ.

There is also a communal patio area which has a brick built BBQ, the ideal place for parents to get to know one another, while the kids play. We have had many an enjoyable evening with a BBQ and a few drinks.

The heated above ground pool is made of teak to fit in with the surroundings in the orchard; it is 6x4 metres and 1.5 metres deep and is open from May - September.

The gardens are the ideal place to relax by the pool, have a picnic under a tree, or just sit and read a good book while sipping a glass a wine.

There is a 14ft trampoline with safety nets, badminton, swings, boules pit, swing ball, football net, and basketball in the gardens, along with numerous games.

There is also a Wendy house made of wood with its own little veranda.

In the covered veranda area there is table soccer, table tennis and a darts board and lots of other toys.

The gardens are large and safe enough for children to play, whilst we consider our accommodation to be child friendly, good parental supervision should be shown at all times.

For the comfort of our future guests, smoking is permitted in designated areas/outdoor areas only.

Just down the lane there is an 18 km Patrimoine walk through lovely countryside.

Although La Basse Rouërie is in a quiet location it is only a few minutes from Mellé which has a bar-tabac-restaurant-store and only 5 mins to Louvigne du Desert with its shops and restaurants.

This is the ideal place for a home from home holiday Brittany it is the perfect choice - the environment is more Celtic than French, with a climate similar to that of the South West of the UK. On the other hand there are unique attractions in Brittany that should not be missed, with fascinating history and outstanding coastline offering rugged cliffs, quaint harbours with active fishing fleets, delightful sandy beaches and excellent attractions that will make your holiday really memorable....

Mont St Michel - The 8th wonder of the world. A magnificent abbey perched on an island joined to the mainland by a causeway. The abbey stands above a village, which is full of shops and restaurants, it is spectacular at night.

Fougeres - Overlooking vast green countryside Fougeres has retained all of the grandeur of it's glorious past. The 12th century Chateau was an outpost of medieval Brittany and one of the biggest and best-preserved fortifications in Europe. Fougeres old town still contains wooden buildings and hosts of shops and restaurants.

Dinan - A medieval stronghold overlooking the exceptional Vallée de la Rance, Dinan is undeniably one of the most exquisite cities of Brittany. Still entirely surrounded by its ramparts, it has belfries, churches, convents, timbered houses and narrow streets disclosing their secrets as you go along.

Cancale - A small picturesque fishing town, famous for its oysters and seafood, plus there are some wonderful walks along rugged coastal paths.

St Malo - An old Port with a walled town full of seafood restaurants, souvenir shops and pedestrian ramparts that offer fantastic views of the port and the miles of sandy beaches.

Rennes - The capital of Brittany, The beautiful 17th century Palais de Justice and medieval Place des Lices (Jousters Square) are well worth a visit for the half-timbered buildings.

Prices:
A 150€ deposit is required to secure your booking. A Booking Form with Terms and Conditions is available on request. The balance is due 8 weeks before arrival along with the 150€ security deposit.
A 150€ security deposit is required per cottage, this will be refunded to you after you leave providing it has been left in a reasonable condition and there are no breakages.
If the cottage has not been left in a reasonable condition then 75€ will be deducted to cover cleaning costs.

Rental weeks are from 4 pm Saturday to 10 am Saturday during peak, flexable at all other times.

  Arrived to friendly welcome from Sandy, even thought we were later than planned! Thank god for the welcome pack so could feed the hungry hoards. Clean and tidy cottage, spacious rooms and plenty of bathrooms so even with 2 adults and 5 kids, never a queue. Pool, trampoline and garden well used by all. Enjoyed the local pizza pasta restaurant recommended very much, excellent value for money, gorgeous food. The only small downside was no TV In Olympic week, still regular Internet updates were a compensation. Would go back for sure

  This is our fifth or sixth visit, and every one is as memorable as the last. We love the rurul, peaceful location. The hosts Sandy & Barrie, which we have now got to know are really friendly they have always given great service, the Gite is cosy and comfortable, with your own use of a BBQ, swimming pool and lots of other things to do, e.g walking, fishing or just plain old relaxing. Our favourite part is the beautiful location "truly idyllic"
