Description from the owner
The ground floor of Plum Tree Cottage consists of an open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area, so Mum doesn't feel left out of the holiday and stuck in the kitchen.
The comfortable lounge/dining area has a log burner for the cooler months and great for Christmas bookings, some granite walls and exposed oak beams.
The well equipped kitchen area has a door leading to a covered veranda.
The first floor has a shower room and 2 bedrooms, a large double bedroom and a bedroom with bunk beds; both rooms have granite walls and exposed oak beams.
Plum Tree Cottage has a separate patio with garden furniture, sun canopy and a BBQ.

Although la Basse Rouerie is situated in a quiet location it is only a few minutes from the the pretty village of Mellé which has a bar-tabac-resturant-store and only 5 minutes from Louvigne du Desert with its shops, supermarkets and restaurants.
Try tasting the local cider and following the cider route, which weaves its way through the Normandy and Brittany countryside. Many of the cider manufacturers welcome visitors and offer guided tours of the cellars and have tastings. Whilst staying at La Basse Rouerie try our own cider it's delicious!
Calvados is a fine distilled spirit, it is the final destiny of the apple. The age of a good calvados is important, at least 20 years old is best. Pommeau is Normandy's own aperitif and is made from a mixture of cider and calvados.
Many freshly made cheeses are to be found in the area, and can be sampled in the many local markets and supermarkets. There is a cheese farm 10 mins away that has open days twice a week in July and August.
Freshly baked bread and delicious cakes are abundant in the patisseries and local boulangeries.
Pancakes are Brittany's famous speciality and come in two varieties; Crepes which are made with a batter of wheat flour and usually have a sweet filling and Galettes which are made with buckwheat flour and contain a savour filling,usually a huge sausage. They can be bought at any local market and the many creperies.
We are sure you will enjoy your stay in this beautiful part of Brittany, close to the Normandy border. A gastronomic delight and sightseeing paradise.

We have just returned from a wonderful week in Plum Tree gite. The gite was comfortable and cosy with everything you might need for a relaxing self-catering holiday. Sandy and Barrie were extremely welcoming and went out of their way to make sure we had all we needed - nothing seemed to be any trouble.
The area around the gite in Brittany and nearby into Normandy is beautiful. There are shops and amenities nearby and some lovely places to visit within easy reach.
The kids enjoyed getting back to nature, playing table tennis and board games and just generally enjoying the countryside and spending quality time together. Truly priceless.

Pleasant cottage with good facilities (no channels on the TV though & take your own Dvds for the kids). A beautiful area with lots to explore, fantastic garden & play area for the kids. Lots of time spent in the pool & on the large trampoline. Owners very friendly; there when you need them & not when you don't! Definately recommended!

The property was great, with lots of outdoor space for the children; a pool, wendy house, outdoor toys, even sheep to feed! The cottage was clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location was great; rural and peaceful but lots of places within an hours drive; beaches, beautiful old towns, a lake, amusement parks. Sandy and Barry were really welcoming and friendly and full of advice of where to go and what to do.

Hi we have stopped at sandy`S and Barries , several times now , and each time they make us feel so welcome nothing is too much trouble. Their Gites are so cosy and comfortable and so well equipped. We love the log fires in all of the Gites, but our real Favourite is plum tree cottage, its just so cosy .!!Each time we come we always feel so much better after Beeing out in the beautiful country air. The gardens are Loveley, and the pool is great to Ccol off for a nice swim on a hot day.The gite is situated in a great area for touring both countryside and coast, just 10 Mins away to nearest towns and supermarkets
