The house has been built in the 16th century and has been modified in the following 18th century.
The most antique news of the Villa dates back to the first land register of 1427.
At that time it belonged to the family of Bonbeni, wealthy Florentine merchants who where related to the Medicis. Today the Villa, surrounded by an extended garden, maintains a plain style of th 15th century. Also the interior preserves a wide ranging grace of the same epoch. It's architectural subdue...d aspect as well as the plan layout represent the typical Florentine harmony between architecture and nature in the 15th century, which shares this country residence with other Villas in the Tuscany hills. The property belongs to the present owners since the 18th century. The cellar is still original. It's entire furniture consist of antique pieces and belong to the villa and it's history as well as the antique cotto floor in all rooms.
DESCRIPTION. Groundlevel: entering the house there is a very big gangway with two entrances of glass doors. The large kitchen has an antique fireplace for indoor grilling and food preparation as well as a large antique table where up to 10 persons can take place. It is complete with all modern facilities and food storage. The diningroom has a round antique table where up to 14 guests can be seated.The red living room with it's big old fireplace is also used as a tv room. To the green living room belongs a little studio with a desk to work with the pc, printer and fax. 1 Guest bathroom with shower. Laundry with washingmachine and dryer. Another little seperate entrance (to be used for the alarme system).
First floor: there is the same galleria like on the ground floor with 2 balconies, a master bedroom with kingsize canopy bed for 2 persons and a corridor with a big wardrobe, that leads to the ensuite bathroom with 2 sinks and a bathtub decorated with flower tiles.
The green bedroom has a kingsize canopy bed for 2 persons and an ensuite bathroom with one
sink and a bathtub as well as a private closet room.
The yellow bedroom is a very big room with 2 large single beds, closet and decorated sealing.
The red bedroom has 2 single beds, desk and closet.
On this floor there is also the green bathroom, that is to be shared between the yellow and red bedroom and can be entered ensuite from both chambers. It has 1 shower and 1 sink. A storage room for bedsheets, suitcases etc.
Second floor (with a beautiful view): on this floor there is a guest apartment (with air conditioning in all rooms) with a large entrance, that conducts to the first bedroom with 2 single beds and closet; a big sitting room with 2 sofas and 2 armchairs offers as well a dining area with a table and 4 chairs and a TV. The kitchen is fully equipped except dishwasher. On this floor you find a bathrom with one sink and one tub. The second bedroom has two single beds connected together, one corridor with a big wardrobe. There is also a staff apartment at the floor. The villa has ADSL wireless connection and allarm system.
Upon request, if available, there is an annex (la limonaia) offering 2 bedrooms for 4 guests, fully equipped kitchen, 2 bathrooms, very large sitting room and private garden.
GARDEN. The villa has a private gate with intercom system. The driveway to the private parking area is a gravelroad lined with bushes and roses. The garden in front of the villa has a beautiful view and gives the possibility to eat outside and at the buttom of the park there is a barbecue area which invites to eat directly there. The pool district (completely fenced) is sepetately but close to the garden and reachable through a little gate. The covered dining place at the pool is ideal for easy picnics and cocktails.
Villa Il Mercante di Firenze is only 10 km away from the center of Florence and 10 km from la Certosa and as well about 10 km from the tollgate of Florence Sud highway. About 5 km away from the Villa there is the prestigous golf club "Golf dell'Ugolino" 300 m away from the house there is a riding school.
