We have been visiting the Florida coastline from the Forgotten Coast to Sanibel Island for the past ten years and I have to say that Chateux 101 is now our favorite. We aren't the most budget conscious travelers but do expect a lot of value for our money. We always seek the beachfront and have stayed in cottages, carriage houses, refurbed grand old beach homes, elegant upgraded original beachside hotels from the 60's and multistory units. As nice as they were location-wise, there was always something to detract from our stay. From overworked and worn furniture and beds, motley assortments of kitchenware, fuzzy cable, wheezy wall and window ac units, evidence and sightings of mice and droppings to things as mundane as lack of and overloaded ac outlets - it seemed as if owners let a property fall into disrepair while "location location location" was expected to trump everything.
And now comes Chateux #101! The location, of course cannot be beat. But that's just the beginning.
Convenient, sheltered parking for this unit under the building.
Bright, modern, clean and well lighted stainless steel elevator

Bright and clean heated swimming pool with lots of sunning lounges and clean shower and restrooms.
This unit is on the first floor (actually the second story - the building is raised with parking underneath) on the S/W corner with amazing gulf views out the main (West) and side (South) windows and balconies on three sides. West and South balconies overlook the pool.
The kitchen is clean and modern, well equipped with dishwasher, tons of dishes, glasses, cups, pots/pans, utensils, coffee maker (round filters), toaster, microwave, mixer, blender, pizza pan, wine openers and much more. You could literally walk in and cook a thanksgiving dinner! The only thing we couldn't find was a pizza cutter, and some matching lids for the skillets would be nice. But it felt as if they anticipated things even we didn't remember we would need. There was even a drawer with scissors, pen and a couple of screwdrivers. A floor fan was located in the utility closet in the kitchen, but with the central heat and aC we didn't need it.
We brought bottled water because many places we have stayed had smelly water with high chlorine. The tap water here was very very nice in my opinion and made excellent coffee too.
On the other side of the bar is a writing desk and WiFi router (look on the router for the wifi password), phone books and area and tv channel guides. Also a beautiful glass dining table with leather chairs that seats 4. The WiFi broadband signal is strong but only about 1Mbs according to speedtest.net (although streaming Netflix via my iPad worked fine once it got started).
The living room has a beautiful leather sofa bed, massive dual recliners with end tables and lamps, a glass coffee table, big flat-screen Hdtv and DVD player. A selection of books is found in one of the end tables and spare extension cords in the tv cabinet.
The master bedroom is large with a firm king-size bed, ceiling fan, end tables with lamps, a large dresser and closet with plenty of space to hang clothes. The closet was a treasure trove of beach chairs (the Nautica 5-position chairs are amazing - I'm putting them on my Christmas wish list), extra blankets, pillows, umbrella, an inflatable bed and even a pair of inflatable paddle boats!
The bathroom is accessible from the bedroom and the hallway and has a full-size tub/shower, vanity and medicine cabinet.
A laundry room is across the hall from the front door of the unit and a trash chute is at the end of the hall which leads to the other units.
The staff keeps the grounds very clean, pool deck is clean and neatly arranged every morning and the landscaping is neatly trimmed. Access to the beach through the pool deck is directly across from the elevator which makes it very convenient to this unit. A few steps from your front door to the elevator, a few more from the elevator to the pool deck and then right onto the beach. Very, very nice indeed! There are also benches and picnic tables on the greenway adjacent the pool deck.
And of course the highly responsive and helpful rental agent is a quick phone call away should you need anything.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable visit! We hated to leave and cannot wait to return. -

Awesome location. Unit was nice. Nothing fancy, but that wasn't what we were looking for anyway. Just wish we could have gotten the wi-fi to work. Beach was beautiful. And the views from the balcony were the best.

It's hard to find one bedroom condos directly on the beach, so the choice in this area is pretty much limited to the Chateaux. We've stayed here before. It's been a delight to stay in 101. It's a corner unit, which means there is lots of light. That's particularly nice in the bedroom. The bathroom is updated and the decor throughout is well appointed. The King bed is just like ours at home -- nice and firm. Highly recommended.
