Autumn at Banks Road Vacation House is a lovely time.
With the wood fire place to take the chill off the morning, the huge west facing windows and deck to view the beautiful Gulf of St. Lawrence and the fall foliage, and the privacy of the large property, Banks Road Vacation House has all the ingredients for a great holiday.
The House is well situated for day trips around the beautiful Island of Cape Breton as well as for cultural events and salmon fishing.
We enjoyed every minute of vacation and are planning for a return next year. -

Wonderfully relaxing week on the ocean. A fantastic well equipped home on the ocean with beautiful views from the huge deck. Whale watching, shopping, hiking, fine dining and local music nearby. Friendly, welcoming people and a quiet, scenic town nearby with a fantastic beach and golf course. Something for everyone, you can do as much or as little as you ike.

We stayed at the Banks Road home in early June 2012. We found it extremely comfortable for 2 adults and it would easily have accommodated either another couple or some children. As it was cool most evenings, we really enjoyed the wood fireplace to take the chill out of the air. The back deck is huge , with stunning views of the water, especially at sunset. One of our favorite excursions was a day trip to Louisburg to visit the old fort. We made most of our meals in the fully equipped kitchen. We found this home to be clean, with a simple, modern, eclectic decor - a very soothing and relaxing space. Would go back in a heartbeat!!

Imagine yourself dining comfortably on the huge deck, listening to the soothing sounds of nature (or any music you fancy), breathing fresh, crisp air with your face warmed by the rays of the sun setting into the St Lawrence gulf... you won't miss the TV!
There's an abundance of reasons why you would definitely want to stay at Vicki's Banks Road Vacation home:
- a spectacular view (westwards thus includes beautiful sunsets) from both, the inside easy chairs or kingsize bed and the splendid deck,
- a lovely decorated interior that makes you feel that the owner really cares about the place,
- a comfortable and generous set of facilities (kitchen, laundry, bath & shower) that leave nothing to be desired,
- location, location, location... the home is fully secluded yet offers a great range of things to do and see within less than one hour's drive (e.g. Mabou or Judique for ceilidhs and concerts, CBH NP for hiking, Glenora distillery for fine dining) and the town of Inverness (for basic needs) is less than five minutes away, making the place a perfect home base for a western Cape Breton vacation,
- the beach, deck and lawn (for sun); the fireplace (set ready to be lit), steamshower and spacious house (for rain) as well as the attractions in the vicinity make you completely independent of the weather (our week was split into two almost equal halves of bad and fair weather and we enjoeyed every minute of it),
- and last but not least; Vicki and George (nearby-living caretaker) will do everything they can to make your stay as pleasant as possible (that's how it felt to us).
Were we not living so far away, we'd certainly be back this fall :-) -

AlbertaBeautiful!!

Recently my family rented this beautiful house for a week, we travelled from alberta, New Brunswick, and Halifax to meet in Cape Breton. When we arrived we were excited to see a kitchen that was fully stocked with all the dishes that we would need, pots and pans, coffee maker. The entire house was spotless, and there was a pile of firewood ready for the evening's fire. It was the perfect house for a week long relaxing get-a-way. The location was perfect for us, and what a view!

Washington DCBeautiful House, Stunning Location
Left on 09/21/2011 for a stay in September 2011
This is a beautiful house in a stunning location. It has all the mod cons of up-to-code construction with the gracious feel of an older home. The kitchen is well-equipped; the hot water supply and water pressure are fantastic; and the double pane windows, efficient heating, and working fireplace make this a cozy retreat in cooler weather. While we loved leisurely evenings preparing meals at the house and enjoying the spectacular sunsets from the patio, we were also pleasantly surprised that there were some viable options for dining out nearby. We had a wonderful holiday at the Banks Road home and look forward to returning! Thank you Vicki!

TorontoBeautiful Ocean View House in Cape Breton
Left on 07/25/2011 for a stay in July 2011
This is an incredible house with gorgeous high and wide views out over the ocean. We are a family of four with kids 5 and 7 and we all just loved it. The kids slept on the first floor and parents on second, the kids played in the spacious grass yard and parents watched from the recliners, kids watched a movie while we made dinner, it is just perfectly set up for a family.
The house is spacious clean and bright and we enjoyed just relaxing around the house with the children. Leisurely breakfasts, then a walk down through a fragrant pine forest to a private beach. There is a fabulous steam shower for off the master bedroom for those who appreciate these things. I had a great later afternoon steaming, cold showering and then resting while I watched the sun set.
Inverness is a pleasant town and the new Cabot Links golf course is expected to be fantastic. We also saw a lot of local music and did a lot of hiking, beach-combing and exploring around the island. Cape Breton is really fantastic and feels quite secluded. Best of all I had no cell phone reception, so I was forced not to check my blackberry and focus on the vacation!
Top marks for this vacation house! We've stayed in about four different houses in Nova Scotia on the South Shore over the last seven years and this house in Cape Breton is one off the best. -

This thoroughly modern ocean cottage has many vintage touches, and the end result is a strikingly attractive getaway. It offers plenty of room, with a tasteful and comfortable decor that shows much care and planning by the owners.
We enjoyed a perfect view of the ocean during the day and the stars at night. We relaxed on the large deck after barbecuing the "catch of the day", or after eating too much lobster boiled in the very well equipped kitchen. A large teak outdoor table was a nice touch too.
We have stayed in many rental by owner accommodations, but this was by far the best equipped and most appealing. The caretaker was also very polite and welcoming, and lives conveniently nearby if you need any advice or assistance.
The beach is a short, very scenic walk downhill and provided miles of secluded shores (albeit a bit of a hike back up, but the kids enjoyed the outdoor shower when we came home). For our touring agenda over Cape Breton over the week, this also proved a good center of operations.
However, it was so peaceful and stunning, and many afternoons were simply spent enjoying the view, listening to the satellite radio (with each room and the deck having its own volume), or logging onto the broadband to confirm the world back home was still there too.
We were travelling with our three kids, and an adult friend, and we were all very comfortable (the loft area and main floor bedroom offer good privacy and alone time).
Without reservation, highly recommended. -

Bradenton, FLIncredible property and home

I love the location and the house is charming in every respect. As you can see from the photos, the view from the house and deck is magnificent. Walking on the untravelled road behind the house is a pleasure, and the expansive beach is breathtakingly beautiful, framed by Prince Edward Sound on one side and magnificent cliffs on the other. The house is charming and clean. The dining area looks out onto the view of the water. Since the property sits on about 15 acres of land, it is very peaceful. The custodians, who live close by are most helpful answering any questions or concerns. I felt safe, happy, and serene in this fantastic vacation retreat.
