Additional Location Information
Visiting this area you will find you are right in the middle of the "Castle Trail". Castle Fraser, a National Trust Property, is the nearest and only 3 miles away. The village of Alford, the home of the Aberdeen Angus and 9 miles west of Sauchen, is where the Grampian Transport Museum can be found. This venue hosts many events, including the Grampian Motorcycle Convention and the Military Vehicle Tatoo. Inverurie, a 20 minute drive away, is a small market town with a large supermarket. It is on the banks of the River Don where salmon and trout can be caught. 14 miles south of Sauchen is the pretty Deeside village of Banchory famous for its two golf courses and salmon fishing in the River Dee. A drive up this valley will take you to Balmoral Castle and Crathie Church where you may just spot a royal or two. A car would be essential visiting this area and there is plenty of parking space at West Wing.

This is first class accomodation, very well kitted out with everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Owner very helpful if anything is requested. Good price for the level of provision. A very good location to use in order to explore the area. Good advice about the best pubs and where to eat etc also. To be thoroughly recommended.

We have stayed at West Wing twice which in effect speaks for itself. The cottage is cosy and well equipped - there is nothing we can think of that is missing. Maddie and Jim are on hand should you need anything (which you won't!) but on the other hand, although the cottage is attached to the farmhouse, you won't know they are there as the cottage is completely self contained. Due to it's location it is quiet and peaceful and the perfect place to get away from it all. We cannot recommend it enough and will definitely return at some stage as it now feels like home - I only wish it was!

West Wing is a fabulous holiday cottage with excellent facilities of a high standard. It is extremely comfortable and stylish, and attention to detail has been given. West Wing is set in a wonderful peaceful location, from where you can explore the region, although you do need a car.
