Even though the apparement it self was quite small,it was ideal formyself.Linda was very helpfull allong with her tips of what is arround.With the supermarket accross the street Ipamina beach around the courner and Copacobana Beach about 10 min walk.Metro 1 min walk buses outside,the locaton was perfect.The appartment had all the amenities that i needed.

The not so "Terrific" studio

When I rented this place was advertised as an "apartment" and I've found and "studio" and had no description regarding the location of the apartment within the building which is terrible-located facing the inside of the building and you can hear every move of the neighbors as the neighbors windows face directly your windows with barely two meters in between. We've stayed 5 nights; our first night was full of noises from the neighbors washing and cleaning clothes, oh! let me clarify; this studio is actually the "service" room from an apartment so the neighbor that you will be facing will be the "service" room from the neighbor and they use this room really for service and not for sleeping like this "terrific" studio. Our second night was worst as there was a dog barking inside the building for hours and as this apartment is facing the inside of the building the echo was making the dog-bark a concert which was unbearable; I spoke with the security guy who spoke only Portuguese and he couldn't understand my complaint and also couldn't hear the dog as he is facing the exterior of the building; already frustrated at 1:00 am I wrote an email to the owner as she was not in the city explaining the situation: adding to the noises my complaints were:
-To have a better description of this place as was advertised as "apartment" and it is a mini-studio with the shower together with the toilet; So while you sit at the toilet you can take a shower.
-In the description had no mention that the place was facing the service room of the neighbors otherwise I wouldn't have rented this place.
-As the blocked windows (you can't see through this windows) face the neighbor every time they turn-on the light this light goes to your face while you are sleeping as this "studio" has no curtains.
Next day I left early to explore the city, when I came-back in the evening the surprised was to find the reply of the owner, which was "I am so disappointed to hear that the Ipanema studio is not meeting your needs. I am authorizing a refund for any unused nights if you like to move out"; Move-out? What type of "host" offers to its guests as a first hand solution to "move-out"; shockingly I wrote back that since I am a tourist without knowledge of this city and I am not a backpacker going door to door to look where to sleep I will not spend the little days left to look for other accommodation; there was no apology for disguising the description of the "studio" at the time of the rental and the reply regarding the noises was that was "out of her hands"; that she will speak to the security guy but that was all. Very disappointed of the reaction of the owner, very disappointed of this studio; The location of this place within Ipanema is Great but I would not recommend to anybody; now you can see that the description was changed - thanks to my suggestions - but if you are going to Rio de Janeiro only to party and not to sleep then this is a mini-service-room-studio for you!Response from Linda C - 06/07/2013

After 19 wonderful reviews, this review was indeed a huge disappointment & unfair. We work very hard to please & listen to all of our guests, advertise our Studio accurately, and offer excellent value for the price. This reviewer's wife arranged for the rental, and it appears he was not aware of nor read the Studio description on Flipkey/TripAdvisor. If he had read the listing, he would not have unfairly complained about features that were clearly stated:
+ The rental has always been advertised as a STUDIO in the title and text on Flipkey/TripAdvisor.
+ 8 pictures clearly represent the studio’s size.
+ We clearly state the studio contains a ‘wet-bath’ and describe it.
The studio windows indeed face the back of the building and are much preferred in Rio as street-facing bedrooms suffer from traffic/street noise. The doorman or rental managers can easily address neighbor-noise, if alerted. The barking dog was a problem for all neighbors in all buildings that face the core, and was quickly resolved after one day. And in an effort to continue to enhance the space, we recently installed a blackout curtain above the bed- although many guests thought it was unnecessary. Thanks to all our past guests who actually ‘read’ our Flipkey/TripAdvisor listing carefully, and gave us such positive reviews! We’ve appreciated and worked hard to deserve them, and will continue to do so in the future. We look forward to welcoming many more guests with the same warm hospitality, excellent quality, wonderful service, and value our guests have come to expect. -

We have stayed in the apartment for 9 days and it has been a fantastic base for all our activities in Rio. It is near everything and has ipanema beach and a supermarket on the doorstep. Linda was very helpful and even provided someone to meet us even though she was not here.
Studio is small but has everything you need and is very reasonably priced for the location.
We have loved our time here and would recommend staying here and using Paulo to and from the airport as well as tours. -

My friend and I stayed 7 days in Linda's vacation rental. The studio apartment is just perfect as it has all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The location is only a block from the beach and it is very safe to walk around the area. Best of all Linda is very helpfull and honest. If this is your first time in RIO, I recommend Paulo (Linda's friend) for driving you from and to the airport. I will definately book this apartment again if I come back to RIO...

We came to Rio on our honeymoon to experience Carnivale. Rio during this time can be expensive however we found this place to be very well priced ( you won't find better value for money!). While initially the place may appear small it is equips with everything you could think of needing for your stay in Rio.
It is located in the most convenient location- everything is on your doorstep! Only a hundred meters from Ipanema beach (and post 8 which has the best Capirinhas in Rio!), a 10 min walk from Copacabana beach and within meters from the metro station, bus stops, a supermarket and some great restaurants!
Linda is the perfect host, so friendly and willing and available to help in anyway she can. Before we arrived she emailed us a lot of useful information to help us plan for our trip. When we arrived she took us for a tour of the area and included lots of local tips. She also has an information sheet in the apartment explaining which buses to catch where, where to eat/ drink/ do laundry etc. She is also always available on Skype or email for any extra advice you may need. We can't rave enough about her and feel our trip would not have been as amazing as it was without all her advice!
If you're travelling to Rio, do yourself a favour and stay here! -

We were received by Linda with kindness, blankets and a basket with bread, cookies, cheese, beer all that we need at first.
The room was well equipped with appliences, good mattress, books, but so small that there isn´t no place for a door in the bathroom!
The location is perfect near the beach, bus-stops, near restaurants and a good supermarket in front.
I would recommend only for one person. -

Great place to stay 1 block from Ipanema Beach, bus/subway line, restaurants and shops. Owner goes out of the way to assist before, during & after trip; unsurpassed responsiveness and attention to our many questions and needs. Extremely helpful neighbors and concierges made our 7-day stay very enjoyable. Can't get a better location anywhere in Rio. Apartment provides all the amenities of home. Wi-fi was amazing and a lifesaver; helped us keep in touch with work and the world. 24-Hour grocery across street was convenient and much used. Felt extremely comfortable & safe day and night walking the streets around the neighborhood. Only drawback is subway is down for 8 months preparing for Olympics; however shuttles to nearby subway station are provided. We got around "everywhere" using buses, which are cheap, can be caught a block away and make frequent stops.

Tuvimos una experiencia muy grata al llegar a Ipanema y corroborar que Linda nos estaba esperando ya que al reservarlo y señar por internet teniamos un poco de miedo de que no exista. Linda es una persona muy atenta que te manda mails con información sobre Rio y vive en el dpto de al lado por lo que acude a cualquier solicitud. Al llegar nos acompañò a recorrer el barrio mostrà ndonos los lugares de interés y el último dìa permitiò que dejaramos las valijas y luego ducharnos y cambiarnos en su dpto ya que el vuelo salìa mas tarde de la hora del check out (y ya estaba ocupado el studio) por lo que pudimos hacer playa por la mañana. El studio se encuentra muy bien ubicado a solo una cuadra del mar, con un supermercado 24 hs enfrente y la famosa calle de negocios de ipanema a solo 2 cuadras. Si bien es un studio pequeño cuenta con todas las comodidades (aire, cocina, heladera, mesa y sillas) para pasarla super bien en Rio.

Upon arrival we were escorted around the neighborhood showing us the sights and the last day allowed us to leave the bags and then shower and change in their dept because the flight was later than the time of check out (and I was busy studio ) so we could do beach in the morning. The studio is conveniently located just one block from the beach, with a 24 hour supermarket and opposite the famous business street just 2 blocks from Ipanema. While it is a small studio with every comfort (air, stove, refrigerator, table and chairs) to pass really well in Rio." -

studio pequeño pero ideal para dos personas, excelente ubicación, alrededores con todo lo necesario, supermercado, parada de autobuses y metro. Nuestra anfitriona se porto excelente, dándonos todos los puntos de interés, indicaciones de lugares que visitar, que locomoción tomar, etc. Se porto muy bien durante nuestra estadÃa, acompañándonos ademas al sambodromo a ver ensayos del carnaval.

Perfect base for any Rio visit! The apartment is central to Rio! You are a very short walk to the world famous Ipanema beach, local restaurants, bars, subway and buses. Linda (landlord) will leave you a detailed city summary that will give you the 'heads up' on all of the local attractions. Try to book a day trip with Paulo...he will get you to the major attractions before the other tourists show up! Apartment is located in a secure (door man 24/7) building that can't be beat!

Wow, what a host!
Linda worked hard to ensure our stay was brilliant, whilst in her apartment.
Whilst the apartment is small, this was expected given she makes this very clear in her description. The location is fantastic, a stones throw from the beach, with a supermarket across the road, and many bars and cafes to explore.

We had an amazing time in Rio and one of the reasons for that was staying at Linda's place! Located in the heart of Ipanema, the studio allows you to travel quickly to any of Rio's tourist places. In less than one minute from the studio you can find a grocery store, subway station, great bars and restaurants. The beach is right around the corner of the street! Super friendly hospitality, we will definitely be back!

We are sad to leave RIo De Janeiro (Brazil), the city of wonderful people.
We had a marvelous time. But for the local help and support, we would not have had this wonderful time. We thank our hosts Linda, Paulo, Evandro, Silvia and Daniel from the bottom of our heart.
When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive- to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love-then make that day count in your wonderful city of Rio De Janeiro. Rio has all the things that people dream of in their lives to live in a country. For example,
• the weather
• the mountains
• the ocean
• people who are caring and affectionate
• tropical climate
• Iquazu Falls
• the great river of amazon
People in USa & Canada are dreaming to find a city just like Rio and Iquazu in all their lives and they are still searching.
This place was truly the highest and the brightest of all worlds - the most beautiful senses, the most exquisite emotions.. the most malevolent desires, the kindest deeds. Perhaps it was meant to be so. Perhaps without the kindness and caring of foreign guests, the highs could not be reached. We feel that the Brazilians are the ones who has given the ability to achieve greatness in providing marvelous time to their guests in this city.

The studio I stayed in was clean and had all the basic necessities. You'll find a 24 hour door man as well as a 24 hour grocery store across the street. The owner and property manager are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. My first trip to Brazil was a memorable one thanks to the location and convenience of this place.

Safety was a big concern for us when we visited Rio, so we jumped at the chance to rent a place in Ipanema for such a great price. The studio is everything as advertised: a safe location with a doorman on watch 24 hours a day, right next to the main shopping/restaurants in Ipanema, and a short block away from the best beach in Rio. There was even free wifi included! Linda was a pleasure to work with throughout our experience, even giving us tons of recommendations on where to eat and how best to get to the top attractions. Definitely book this place up while you can!

I had a outrageous time here during Carnival, and you couldn't ask for a better location. In a quiet building, with security gate/guard at entrance. Fabulous market across the street, complete with coffee/food bar. Wonderful park (with regular markets set up there) - also across the street. A couple of blocks from the Metro Rio subway station and the lively, colorful Ipanema beach. Beach side, you can enjoy a stroll one direction to nearby Leblon, or go the other direction to adjacent Copacabana. Enjoy!

I had a great time while there. The place is small but has all the amenities necessary. Access to the beach is very close, public transportation right there, and the door man is very helpful, answering questions etc. It is a very neat, clean apartment, with own entrance not far from elevator. It has a kitchenette, a bed, table with chairs for dining, and toilet/shower all in new condition. And it is reasonable.

I stayed in this room for thirteen days. It is small but has everything I needed. Very comfortable bed, very, very clean. The location is perfect, close to the beach, safe neighborhood, lots of restaurants and juice bars. Metro up the street, market across the street. I would stay here the next time I visit.

I attended a two week Portuguese immersion class in Rio last summer.(January 2011) and the studio was perfect. The location was close to the metro station, one block to the beach, and grocery store and restaurants all in walking distance! On Sundays, there is a flea market in the park across the street, popular with locals and visitors alike. The breakfast and pizza at the grocery store is inexpensive and convenient. Nice secure building and very comfortable for one or two people. I will always come back. The owner has many helpful tips for things to do in Rio, and she has lots of suggestions for your stay if she is in town. A must stay! Te amo Brasil!
