the location is great if the lift at the bottom of the hill is open they closed that side of the mountain monday threw thursday so if your staying on those days you have to take a shuttle to the lodge to ski which defeats the purpose of ski in ski out it could use better cooking pans forsure the wood burning fire place is awesome and they had plenty of wood stocked for us to use and the pacman arcade game kept us busy for hours

This was our 18th annual "guys" trip up to Powderhorn, and the majority of the times we have stayed at the Eagles Nest. It works perfect for our group usually between 6-8 guys. Even though the past 2 years we weren't able to use the ski in/ski out aspect due to weather, non snow making, etc it really makes it even a better place to stay when you can just dump your skis off the deck, and pop in for some food and/or bevi and head right back out. Overall, we have had some really great times at the Eagles Nest, and really fits our needs for space, rooms, kitchen, and general layout. Hopefully we will be back in 2014 for our 19th year.

Nice clean place, good support from staff. the right fron burner was out on stove and the stove was a little slow to heat on the other burners.

Left on 03/03/2011 for a stay in February 2011
Eagles Nest is slope side so the easy access to the slopes was awesome. The place was old and pretty run down. Beds were very hard and the place was a little dusty on arrival. Games were wonderful for the children but pac man game does take quarters to run. The high top bar was large and a nice to play cards and eat around. Bottled water was also a nice surprise. The kitchen was stocked with enough utensils and pots to make anything we wanted and it was nice to have a real wood burning fireplace for a change. Service was wonderful, they were there in very little time with anything we needed like towels, wood, and water refills. It was also nice to have 2 separate living rooms with TVs. We had a great time as usual skiing and after a long day on the slopes it was a good place to crash and enjoy a fire and the company of our family.

We love Powderhorn and hope to be able to enjoy the trip for many more years! Started out as a party trip with friends and now we spend our time changing diapers, running to town to pick up six packs of juice boxes, and snow plowing with kids between our legs. Eagle's Nest was great but wish there was a little more attention paid to having railings on stairs and lofts safer. Quite a few of our little ones fell but thankfully no one was hurt. We had a little one fall 12 feet at Top Notch two years ago(to their credit, the owners fixed the railings immediately, sent us a very nice note and pictures of the repairs). We will be back in Top Notch in '12.

Delafield, WIThis was a great place for extended family with teens
Left on 01/26/2011 for a stay in January 2011
Our family group consisted of four couples, 2 teens and 3 children, and there was something for all of us to like...kids loved the giant whirlpool, teens the loft rec room with their own TV & fooseball, and grownups liked the spacious great foom with fireplace that worked and well equiped kitchen. The slope was perfect for intermediate skiers, but our novices had a bit of trouble with the challenging lift...ask the operators to slow it for the little ones. Bring lots of quarters for the pacman machine. Sadly, the ice skating rink was unavailable. If the road up to this place is slippery, plan to get a good run going to get up this hill. We would love to come back here again if we can get it.

Left on 03/03/2010 for a stay in February 2010
We had 3 families, a total of 12 people, 6 kids, 6 adults. Cozy place, convenient to Shotgun run. Unfortuneately, one of the kids fell and broke his collarbone.
Would have liked to been better informed at check-in regarding the evening entertainment around the area. We were also told a few weeks before the trip that there was no outdoor grill at the Eagle's Nest. We actually found 3 grills on the deck. The skating rink was in horrendous condition. We noticed that the garage was locked up. If the garage isn't being used for cars, why not make it into another bedroom or rec room? -

OshkoshPerfect getaway!

The Eagle's nest was the perfect location for our family to escape for the weekend. It was easy for the kids to get back to off the slope...and nice to be able to get together for lunch or to warm up.
My only recommendation is to install a dryer! The house is big enough to have one and with all of that lake effect snow, skiers really need one! Our clothes were so wet after two hours of skiing they were literally dripping...and of course never dried before we went out again. -

We liked Eagle's Nest very much. It was spacious and clean. The location was
good. It was nice to be close to the Caribou Lodge. Only negative I can think
of was that it did not have a great oven-seemed very slow to heat up and one
of the burners did not work.
