Holiday Haus had lots of room for our 3 families. Loved the entryway room for all our ski equipment. Very short walk to the ski hill, very convenient. Kids enjoyed having the basement and foosball table to themselves. Floors were creaky as others have said, but didn't bother us much. My husband rented snowshoes and went up to Lake Superior one day. We appreciated the shuttle bus. Big Powderhorn is awesome! This was our 2nd year, hope to return again next year.

This is our second stay at Holiday Haus, it is a great place for multiple families with kids. The kids have a seperate living space downstairs. The ski-in / ski-out is a 25 yard walk from the ski hill, not a big deal. There is a large entry area with plenty of space for everyone's gear and coats. The decor is dated, but everything works and is comfortable.
We did have an exceptional amount of snow this year and had to shovel our own path from the door to the ski slope. The front stairs were also not well cleared. Other than that, another great Powderhorn Trip.

Besides the 10" of new snow thursday into friday
the weather was great, the house was set up very well
for skiing in and out onto the trail, we had 8 guys with
lots of gear for skiing and snow mobiling and plenty of
room for all, we would love to get this house again next
year. As always great trip!

who knew you could have a perfect home to share with another family. 5 kids and 4 adults and everyone had more than enough room. Play area for the kids was great, the kitchen was great to help save some money by staying in...We loved the whole place and will put this at the top of the list for homes we have rented up here.
A fantastic weekend

The lodge was very spacious and conveniently located. We had 8 adults and one child and everyone had a blast. There was plenty of space for us all to enjoy without feeling cramped. The fooseball table was a hit and the generously stocked kitchen made our family style dinners superb. It was wonderful cozying up next to the fireplace after a long day of hiking in the rain. As much of a hit as it was for a fall hiking adventures I can only imagine how nice it would be during the ski season!

The Holiday Haus was absolutely fantastic! The main living space is beautiful. We had a total of 9 people at the house and we were very comfortable. We did the Black River Harbor Road - very recommended to go see! Our only issue was where to put the garbage when we left. We didn't like the fact that we left on a Sunday and garbage didn't get picked up until Wednesday. Every morning our garbage was tipped over so we didn't want to put it out for animals! Overall it was a great trip, my friends are hoping to go back again next year! Thanks!

The most 4 memorable days in a cabin!! The weather was perfect. This cabin has it all!! Even pots and pans, silverware, kitchen knifes, all kinds of condiments... So clean!!! 10 beds!!! very large kitchen, nice table, beautiful living room, fireplace, flat screens, sauna room!! grill on the deck (actually 2 grills!!!), nice a/C, very spaceous cabin... the best service in the sign-in desk!! Copperpeak adventure was awesome!! My kids loved it!! We want to go back!! We want to try it in winter time!! very clean bathrooms!! I do not know how to describe the feelings and the sensation in this cabin!! I recommend it to anybody, especially with family!!! And if it is romantic... is the perfect spot!!! We love it!! Thank you Holiday Haus!!! We appreciate for you taking us in!!!
Service stores located at less than 5 minutes away!!! but the cabin is located deep in the woods, so it feels like you're away fron everything!! The best part was the creeks so near, and how confortable this cabin was!!!

The Holiday Haus was excellent. Plenty of room if you have a lot of guests. The place was clean and very comfortable. Even though I was there in august, it looks like it would be just as awesome in the winter when you hit the slopes of Big Powderhorn.

The three levels gave everyone their own "space." The upper level kitchen, dining room and living room space was a great gathering place for everyone to be together - with lots of light and a warm atmosphere. The large dining room table gave us lots of space for all to gather for meals and fun games. Having bathrooms with showers on all three levels gave everyone an available bathroom or shower when they needed it. The house was well supplied with all the essentials that we needed to make meals and very well stocked with kitchen and bathroom linens. The beds and living room furniture were very modern and comfortable. It was nice to have a washer and dryer right at the house incase it would be needed. We thoroughly enjoyed our four day stay in June and would love to go back to see the Holiday Haus in it's winter, skiing setting. Even though it wasn't the skiing season - my kids (who ski) would love to go back to try out the many choices of runs. Since I don't ski, I would most enjoy sitting by the cozy fireplace with a cup of coffee watching the snow fall outside the many window viewpoints!

We didn't need to bring much! This home was equipped with everything. The kitchen had every item needed to cook all of our meals and even had some spices in the cupboard!
It was very clean. Beds and furniture were very comfortable. Plenty of room to accommodate many people. Relaxed atmosphere made it easy to enjoy our vacation.
Decks off the entry level bedrooms and living area upstairs for taking your morning coffee and enjoying the sights and sounds of the surrounding woods. A lot of thought was put into this home, we were impressed!
A home away from home that we will want to return to.

Holiday Haus provided us with a relaxing atmosphere in which to kick back and unwind. Check in/out was very easy. The Holiday Haus was stocked with all the conveniences of home such as the full kitchen, washer/dryer and comfortable beds. The place is very spacious and great for a larger group. We enjoyed relaxing in front of the fireplace and watching the large newer TV and the game area was a great place to have family fun. During the day my family and I explored the beauty of the area by hiking the many beautiful waterfalls and seeing the sites of shores of Lake Superior. The area is beautiful in the fall and Holiday Haus was the perfect place to get away from it all. We had such a good time that we did not want to leave!

What a great place to vacation! Easy check-in/check-out. Meticulously clean! This home offered everything for our family~roomy, comfortable, seclusion, household amenities and great location. I would recommend this home to anyone traveling to the area. Everything had been thought through and was supplied, there wasn't a thing we missed, it was a home away from home - we didn't want to leave!

We truly enjoyed our stay at Holiday Haus! Great accommodations. We especially appreciated the air conditioning after a day of viewing the nearby waterfalls and walking along the shore of Lake Superior on a hot day. Nice to have a washer and driver available.

This trip is our 34th year at Powderhorn. We really miss the lodge. It was the place to meet after all day on the hill. The ride was easy. Check in was a breeze and the chalet. Holiday House was great. We'll see you next year.
Fun in the snow.

The place was very nice. Newer tvs and a new gas fireplace. Sort of missed having to make a fire but flipping a switch was much easier.

Check-in went smoothly! Driving by the burned out Chalet was tough to take! Lots of memories. Accomodations were adequate. It served our purpose and actually growed on us over the weekend. We would stay there again.Could have used some garbage bags, there were not any available. A washer/dryer would have been most handy to clean ski masks and dry ski clothes. Wish it had a woodburning fireplace, gas just isn't the same! The main level floor does "creek" Recommend taking the bedroom on the upstairs level! We went from 15 below zero, to sun and then a squall line coming thru with 10 inches of fresh powder!! We had to leave early to get home to see the Packers beat that semi-pro team from Chicago!! Would stay there again, however we like to try different houses with different memories! 3.5 out of 5.

Nice trailside location, however you had to jump over a little crick to get to the hill-easy & kids thought it was fun. Good location to sled from at night, too. Unit was clean and spacious. Good sized entry area that is nice for gear storage.
Could use a coffee table in front of fireplace. Mattresses weren't that comfortable.

The house is run down, fairly clean, floors are very creaky, so if you have some that like to sleep in and others who are early risers this is not a good situation. Kitchen was well stocked. Fireplace nice. WOuld be nice to have one more T.V. in the downstairs "game room " area. Would be nice if there were darts for the dart board. The sauna was nice. The bed covers on one or two of the beds were not clean and many of the drapes or curtains were needing repair. The big area by the front door was really great when getting ready to go out skiing, lots of room to put all your gear on and to store your gear. Short path (50 feet or less) to the ski hill - loved being right on the hill - it was the best feature of the house. In summary, the house had every thing we needed and the location was good but we will try a different house on the ski hill next time.
Nice but noisy at night

Great location. Unit was clean, everything worked, and the beds were comfortable. Our main complaint was a noise issue: The kitchen and family room area are on the third floor with two bedrooms directly below on the second floor. The problem is the floor/ceiling between the two squeaks everytime someone moves upstairs. It was not a few weak spots in the floor, it was everytime someone took a step. It is not a problem during the day, but those in the two bedrooms didn't get much sleep if anyone was awake upstairs. If the noise issue can be fixed, it would be a great place.
Love the Holiday Haus!

The Holiday Haus and Big Powerderhorn definitely exceeded our expectations! We had a group of 10 in their 20s and 30s so please keep that in mind when reading the review.
One great feature of the house was the large "foyer" area where everyone can put on/take off their gear. With a group of our size, this was a terrific feature. The house was adequately stocked with the necessary dining utensils, bedding, and bathroom supplies. There was plenty of chopped wood for the fire placed. We also enjoyed the sauna. The beds were clean and comfortable. While there was no DVD player, we were pleased to find the movie "Dumb and Dumber" in the VCR!
The ski in/out was decent. We saw other properties that had more open access to the slopes, but the trail from Holiday Haus to the hill got packed down in no time. If you got up enough speed, you could make it all the way to the front door. I don't recommend trying that if you are a less experienced skier!
The one downside was discovered by those sleeping on the first level. Since the house is old, it sounds like people upstairs are going to fall through the floor when you are trying to sleep on the first floor.
The BPH shuttle was also a great service, especially after a day of skiing and "visiting" at the Alpen and Caribou lodges.
Have reasonable expectations in the UP. You're not in Vail or Aspen so do not expect the same type of accommodations or amenities. For the price, this is pretty tough to beat.
Overall we had an excellent experience and are looking forward to a return visit in 2011!

Very short trail to a main beginner slope.
Fireplace with lots of dry wood.
Functional kitchen with dishwasher and plenty of utensils & eating space.
Drinking water (5 gal) appreciated and replenished at request.
Entry way with benches is great for getting outer clothing/boots on.
Beds are comfortable.
Thanks, we had a great time.

House was adequate… location is good. It was probably built or remodeled in the 70’s and hasn’t been touched since (including the non stick pans that have worn through and antique VCR and TV - no DVD player, Ipod dock, cell signal, or any “new fangled” technology to be found). Some things are in disrepair but the service to get them fixed was good (if you don’t mind the wait to get it fixed). It seems that the owner or the management company has lower standards than what I am used to when I travel out west. I guess they can get away with it in the great north woods (maybe do to lack of competition). The people are very nice and they do the best they can with what they are given. Next time I would probably look for a house that has had some modern renovation in the last 10 years at least.
