Great bedroom/bathroom space,but tiny kitchen/cooking area
Left on 03/07/2013 for a stay in March 2013 | Grandma Bug
We made the most of what it offered - the young children loved the Jacuzzi tub and the big variety of Childrens movies, even though there was just 1 small TV. Very adequate bedrooms/bathrooms, but the photos had made the kitchen appear much larger than it was. We made the most of it and had a great time. Close enough to the hill to pull the toddlers to the lodge on their sleds.
Grandson's first time skiing

We stayed at Chalet du Nord for the second time in 20 plus years of visiting Big Powderhorn. It has been remodeled and is very cozy. There were 8 of us visiting. 5 adults and 3 kids. The sleeping accomodations were very good, the only downside is the living area. It is a little small. The kitchen was adequate and there is a hot tub room which we thouroughly enjoyed. It also has a very nice sauna. Our Grandson skiied for the first time and had a blast. The location is great, just a short walk to the lodge. We would definetly stay there again.
Just right for a medium-sized group

The cabin was a good fit for our group of 8 for a weekend. The large kitchen/dining table was especially great - everyone could sit together and eat without being spread all over the living room. There were also plenty of bathrooms for that number of people - a plus when everyone is active and needs to shower!
Being a short walk/shuttle from Powderhorn could be a plus if you are planning to ski there - we were doing a lot of xc skiing so we had to drive everywhere, but the location is pretty good in terms of proximity to Ironwood.
Just right for the price!

Chalet du Nord was just right for the price. Overall, we had plenty of room (except for the cooking area/kitchen). Some of the bedrooms have been updated, yet others have not been. The sauna was a plus. Fyi-it is more than just a block walk to the Caribou and/or even the far lift on the path through the woods. The shuttle is highly recommended, with their prompt, friendly service!

Great experiance despite the fire

We were staying at Powderhorn when the fire happened. We happened to be skiing at Whitecap that day (all week at Powderhorn) and we returned to our chalet around 6:00pm when there were still several fire companies on scene and active flames visable. We had to route around roads we werent familiar with but it was fine. The next day the hill opened up on schedule and the service was great as usual. We needed to rent equipment for our son and it was quick and efficent. You would not have known they had a major disaster less than 24 hours ago. Kudos to the staff. We are looking forward to next year and our thoughts are with the staff and owners of Powderhorn. You guys were grace under pressure. It was sad sad to see the lodge where we have spent years coming to destroyed but are looking forward to seeing your remake.
Great family time together

This is our 3rd year at staying at Chalet du nord. We like it for its 4 bedrooms and three baths. They also has a sauna and hot tub. A minus for the hot tub with the water being pretty brown. They have just redone all the floor which is very nice. It would be nice if they put an area rug in the living room by the fireplace. The kitchen cooking area is tiny. You cannot have more than 2 people in the area. The stove needs to be fixed or replaced, only two burners were in working order. It has a nice big dining table. If you need anything they will take care of it for you.
Stayed for long weekend in February

We had 4 kids, 2 adults, plenty of room. It is dated a bit but not a big deal when just looking for a place to eat, sleep and put down a few brewskis. Circle drive is nice, dont have to back out. Sauna, did not use. Has a big whirlpool tub, kids liked. Close to the hill that one of our kids walked there as he did not want to wait for us, we took our truck. Nice, will stay there again.

The unit was ok but in serious need of an update. We have stayed in several over the past couple years and this one is at the bottom of the list.
