The chalet was nice and cozy and close to excellent X-country skiing. Everything worked and the weather cooperated. However, if you want to play music cds, bring your own player.

The house is the perfect size for a 4 or 5 person family, but can easily accommodate a few more. The beds sleep 6 people comfortably. The house itself is not too far from the hill, only about a two minute drive. Or a free shuttle service is offered, so that's convenient. They stock the place with everything from pots and pans to paper towel to silverware to towels, blankets, bedding. Anything you need is probably already there. Board games and a nice TV. The service was fantastic, easy check in and check out. Overall, our stay for a small group of friends was easy, painless, and a great time overall.

The cabin was clean, comfortable and very close to Powderhorn. We walked one day. Check-in was easy and the staff was very friendly. Nice TV and kitchen.

Since posting our first review in January 2010, Mt. Vista has seen a number of significant upgrades that add to the comfort level without taking away from its rustic charm. The crazy old TV was replaced with a flat panel, the hot water system was upgraded to an on-demand wall boiler, and the kitchen received a really nice upgrade. We love this place and were really excited to get it for the Christmas holiday this year, although we are not so excited by the lack of snow we are having. The only thing we are not so keen about was the appearance of a couple of dead dear heads on the wall that my wife claims are staring at her when she gets dressed in the morning! :-)

We had a great time. This was our first time staying in this unit. We enjoyed all the seating in the living room, the updated kitchen and the nice flat screen TV. It snowed and ski conditions were perfect. Overall a perfect weekend!

In the past we've rented a space in a 4-plex, this year we decided to rent an entire unit. The Mt. Vista was a perfect choice. My 10 year old son loved the whole loft sleeping experience and I liked the wood burning stove. "Cozy" is the word we used to describe Mt. Vista. Everything worked well from the shower to the heating. We will definitely rent this unit again, possibly one more time this current season. Heck, we even asked discussed if we should purchase the unit, we liked it that much.

My wife and I have visited Big Powderhorn for at least the last 5 years and
have held season passes for the last 3 or 4 years, and have always been
greeted warmly by BPLA staff, and by the Ski Lodge staff who manage to
remember our names from one year to the next.
This was the first time we had stayed in Mt. Vista, but had stayed in a
number of other BPLA accommodations including Schneehutte, Dinos, and
Edelweiss. We really prefer the A-Frame layout to the condo and feel they
are on par with Edelweiss (for different reasons). They look small on the
outside, but are surprisingly roomy. The things we like the most about this
style are the multiple sofas, fireplace, large table, and great view of the
hillside.
Mt. Vista is about 3 blocks from the lodge, which is one of the main criteria
for booking accommodation because my wife and I like to park the car at
the rental, and walk to the hill.
The main things we liked the most were the large sofas and large table
where we could spread out and relax. The only thing we did not like so
much was the furnace, which seemed to have a mind of its own. It was not a
major problem, but the furnace seemed to cycle on and off every few
minutes regardless of the temperature setting. I seem to Remember
Schneehutte did something similar, so it might be part of the design.
Although my wife and I are not all that interested in the TV when we come
to Powderhorn, this unit has the worst television I have seen in any of the
BPLA units. Its picture is so bad that the organization would be better off
dumping it and having no TV, if it cannot be replaced with something that
works.
