Madison, WIThe annual Ski Trip
Left on 01/10/2013 for a stay in January 2013
This was our third winter at Big Powderhorn. We had a group of 7 adults and had plenty of space. The kitchen space was a bit small but functioned just fine. The large fridge was great for all of our groceries. The dual living rooms were nice to spread out. We also enjoyed the wood fireplace very much. Entering in the bottom of the unit was very spacious for all of our gear. There were nice cubbies and hooks above a bench and heater for all of our belongings. The next morning our coats would be dry and warm. The sauna and hot tub were nice after a long day. I was disappointed that the washer and dryer did not work. It would have been nice to dry our wet stuff. Second, there needs to be lights between the house and the garage where the hot tub is. It's too dark out there. Rope lights would be perfect right there. Finally, you really need to get rubber matting for the stairs leading into the hot tub or railings. I fell and cut myself in a few places and another friend fell as well on the icy steps. This is a huge safety hazard. Overall we had a very nice stay and would recommend it to others.

The sauna and hottub were great. Kitchen and general living areas smaller than I imagined which made it a bit crowded with 8 people. Great outside playing grounds for the kids. We had warm weather and were able to enjoy the deck. We skied IndianHead one day and then the meltdown happened quickly. We explored the many trails and waterfalls in the area.

Mendota Hts, MNWe relaxed completely in this sunny home with all the amenities.
Left on 03/16/2012 for a stay in March 2012
This home has several inviting spaces to relax -- the main floor living room, spacious outdoor spa, and sauna downstairs. We like to cook and were delighted to find the kitchen had all the utensils and was as easy to use as our kitchen at home. The shuttle bus is easy to use and fast, and so it was no problem being a couple of blocks away from the slopes.

Wausau, WIHot Tub, Hot Tub, Hot Tub!
Left on 03/07/2012 for a stay in February 2012
Nicely furnished unit; appreciated having dressers & TVs in bedrooms & hangers in closets. Wood burning fireplace, outdoor hot tub & sauna were major pluses. Great to have a unit with size & amenities with a 4 person minimum during the week. We would have not been able to stay at Big Burn otherwise. Spiral staircases were difficult when hauling luggage, coolers, etc. We were able to check-in early...nice. We will rent here again.

suburb of chicagoGreat house for ski vacation
Left on 01/03/2012 for a stay in December 2011
This was great house to stay with our family of 5. All the accomdations were great. The owners had the house nicely decorated for Christmas, even a decorated tree. We loved the hot tub, sauna and games. We liked the house so much we stayed in for dinner and grilled instead of going to restaurants.

Washington DCCozy, clean, and comfortable!
Left on 12/28/2011 for a stay in December 2011
This is a great location for any season. We will stay again here as it is perfect for a family of any size. We missed the opening of the hill, but found plenty to do in the few days we were there. The place was furnished well, very clean, and had everything a family might need. The place was even adorned with holiday decorations. Thank you!

MilwaukeeNice place
Left on 03/15/2011 for a stay in February 2011
Really nice place. We went with our family plus another family and the sleeping accomodations were great -- plenty of room and beds were comfortable. Nice location from the hill also. We also skiied a couple other local hills and the location was convienent. The kids used the shuttle to go to the pool and that worked out nice. Also enjoyed the live music in the lounge.
Only negative which is minor -- we went at the end of Februaray and there were still Christmas decorations up including a big tree in the lower level that took up space for where we would put our boots, coats, etc. Also, way too many nick nacks for my taste. I had to move things to make room on counter tops for our stuff. -

Berlin WIKids first experience at Powderhorn
Left on 02/23/2011 for a stay in February 2011
Big Burn was very convenient for our outing as we were able to come home for much needed rest periods and return to the hill easily. The boys loved the foos-ball table and the circular stairway. (The adults didn't love the stairway quite so much when bringing in supplies but we understand why so many cabins use them.)
The kitchen is extremely well stocked with dishes and glassware. The beds were very comfortable for most -- it might have been too much to ask an adult to sleep in the bunk bed room with teenagers! Excellent water pressure in the showers. Gas grill, Wi-fi and sauna all worked flawlessly.
One vehicle had a difficult time getting up the driveway but all roads were a bit slippery that day.
We were quite disappointed that the ice skating rink wasn't open - they said they were using it for parking space. There also wasn't a tubing hill because of the need to move operations to the Caribou Lodge. Luckily for us, we had plenty to do at Big Burn.
Overall, a very positive vacation experience! -

Left on 02/10/2011 for a stay in February 2011
Big Burn was a beautiful place to stay. The home is furnished beautifully. The kitchen is full of top-of-the line equipment. There was plenty of room to spread out in the house. It has Wi-Fi access. The sauna was wonderful. The location was great as it is near the main lodges, restaurants, etc. I would recommend this home to anyone looking to rent--except in early February because we will be back!!

Left on 02/03/2011 for a stay in January 2011
Big Burn is a great place to stay...it is close to the hill, clean, comfortable, and can sleep quite a few. There are multiple common spaces so you won't feel like you are right on top of each other (several different Tv's, foosball, fully stocked kitchen, etc.). I hope to return sometime soon with more friends/family! The staff at Bpla is fantastic and very willing to help! I would come back/recommend without hesitation.

Babycat Grandparents
Ramsey, MinnesotaOur default "premier " unit after suffering at Crossbow unit
Left on 01/31/2010 for a stay in January 2010
This trip was a reunion of sorts for us. We have stayed here over the past 30 years with family and friends and wanted our only granddaughter to ex perience what we have. We would return here in a heartbeat. It is everything we anticipated for a premier unit. We loved the sauna and jacuzzi, but the water heater could have done a better job supplying us with better heated water. She told us that she was so happy we could stay here.
Unfortunately we had to suffer at the first night's rental, Crossbow, a supposed premier unit due to overall poor up keep and fumes and noise given off from the downstairs hot tub, and poor wireless internet. Our granddaughter suffers severely from allergies and was coughing and breaking out from the overpowering poorly managed chemicals.
We are not sure we will return here again given this disapppointing experience. Lutsen and other areas offer similar amenities with fewer surprises. We were pleased to have moved to better accommodations, but you need to have standards set so your guests get what they expect and pay for. -
