Additional Location Information

The historic town and neighborhood are filled with single family homes, many dating to the 1800's. Irvington was begun in the Steamboat Era and once boasted steamboat docks, The Irvington Inn, an Opera House, Ice Skating Rink, and Chesapeake Academy.
The Rappahannock River Yacht Club, started in 1939, is approximately a block and a half away. It's hosting the Turkey Shoot Regatta, one of the largest sail racing regattas on the Chesapeake Bay, October 11th to 13th. Over 120 classic boats will compete. Proceeds benefit Hospice Support Services of the Northern Neck and Riverside Hopsice Agencies in Tappannock and Gloucester.
There are two boatyards close by, Custom Yachts on Steamboat Road and Rappahannock Yachts on Rappahannock Road. The Tides Inn, a 4-star hotel, is two blocks to the north. It has a par-3 golf course, spa, and lovely patio overlooking the Creek along with a couple of restaurants. More top-rated golf courses, including the Tides Inn Golden Eagle and the King Carter Golf Course with four lakes and vineyards are nearby. Public tennis courts, along with shops, galleries, and restaurants line the town. The Steamboat Era Museum is open Thursday through Sunday and four local vineyards are within a few miles of the Coop. The nearby area has 13 vineyards. The rental Cottage is named The Coop, after a long-standing chicken coop that occupied the site up until two years ago.
Come join us either by boat or by car and enjoy a beautiful, relaxing time at the Rivah. (Virginian slang for river living.) We're just an hour and change from Richmond and its fine museums and creative activities. Washington DC is a couple of hours to the north if you're looking for international power and might. Williamsburg is an hour away to the southeast if you want to go back in time to 1776 and experience life during the Colonial Times in this living, historic museum on 300+ acres. If you're planning to fly into Virginia, the Richmond International Airport is one hour and 15 minutes away. Two additional airports, Dulles International and Reagan International are located in Washington DC. Major airports are also about an hour and a half away in the Hampton Roads/ Norfolk area. Just 15 minutes away, you'll find the Hummel Regional Airfield. Call and I can arrange to pick you up. Once here, you'll find plenty of parking on the property. Should you be interested in a spa visit; massage, mud wraps or mani/pedi;art classes; one of the top Famers Market in Virginia; sailing lessons; cruising to islands and around the area; world-class oysters; antiquing; kayaking; biking; bird watching and nature preserves; they're all right here, too. I'll have info in the cottage on all of it. I'm also happy to send you links beforehand for planning.
