This idyllic 10 acre waterfront/beach property comes complete with one of the grandest custom-built residences on Ometepe Island. The 2,500 sq. ft. stately home has 4 bedrooms on the second floor. Two master bedrooms feature queen-sized custom built “St. James”-style beds. The full bathroom with hot water & tub has an privacy door into one of the master bedrooms. The 2 additional bedrooms have: in the first, a set of bunks with a double lower mattress; and the other, a double bed. In total, the 4 bedrooms can accommodate 9 sleepers comfortably (2x2 in queen beds, 2x2 in double beds, & 1 in the twin bunk).

Expansive views feature bre...athtaking panoramic vistas over the orchard & fields across Lake Nicaragua to the windward shores of the Nicaraguan & Costa Rican mainland. As you walk directly out of your bedroom onto the 2nd floor deck for your morning coffee & to watch the dug out fish boats collecting their daily catch of inexpensive & delicious lake fish, you begin to appreciate the magic of being on the largest lake in Central America. Binoculars perched beside you (there is a pair & “The Birds of Costa Rica” at the house) are ready to spot another exotic bird as it lands 30 feet away in the Julie mango tree. The only time of day when there are more bird species is shortly before the dramatic sunsets dip below the distant Pacific Coast mountains.

On the ground floor, an open floor plan design incorporates the living, dining and kitchen areas, protected from the sun by a wrap-around veranda: ideal for this southern climate. The modern food prep area has large counter spaces and is fully equipped, from the cast iron fry pan to coffee grinder and blender. The new large frost free fridge will keep all of your fresh food and beverages in fine form. The 1,000 sq. ft. covered deck wraps around the lake side of the house offering a comfortable lounge area, outdoor dining area for 12 and numerous hammock spots. A second bathroom with tiled shower enclosure completes the ground floor.

The constant onshore breeze allows this energy efficient home to enjoy pleasant temperatures year round without air conditioning (except May when the breeze stops). There are fans throughout the house for those days! To get to the closest swimming beach just walk down in front of the

house (300 yds.). Guests often mount the fleet of bicycles, including the tandem, for a short flat bike trip (10 min.) to one of the island's most popular and picturesque beaches, Punta Jesus Maria. Once there, enjoy Rojer's little bistro serving excellent inexpensive seafood and other “typico” dishes. The fresh water clam ceviche is unbelievable (only available when the clams move into shallower water), but other dishes and ice cold beverages are there in all seasons.

A 20 minute bike ride to Moyogalpa, the island's main town, delivers you to numerous shops recently upgraded to include the cheeses and other popular Western foods you may crave. This town has a dozen restaurants, banks and friendly welcoming locals. A bus passes near your house travelling in both directions on a regular schedule ($0.25) coordinating with all departing foot and car ferries (9 in total!). Taxis are also available by arrangement. 20 minutes in the other direction brings you to the town of San Jose – home to resorts (owned by 3 brothers) of Chaco Verde, a lovely location to enjoy a sunset meal or drink and frequent culture performances.

Emerson, the property's caretaker, and his family provide 24/7 security and services from their separate home on the corner of the farm. Catering, cleaning, baby sitting, etc. can all be pre-arranged.

Although the farm is private, the village of Los Angeles is at the top of the picturesque driveway. A traditional square is where the locals and visitors gather at sunset to play, enjoy the lit basketball court or just laze on one of the many park benches. On weekends and holidays, the street vendors set up barbecues. The numerous island rodeos, the world famous fresh water spring and pool, the river kayaking, volcano climbing, waterfall trekking will give you plenty to do and see (if you can drag yourself away from the property!).

Known as the “Oasis of Peace”, this island and this community enjoy a tranquility and happiness that brings visitors back time and time again. There are no fast food joints (but a 5 star pizzeria!), no traffic jams nor online obsessions (although the house sports wifi).

Come, relax, enjoy! We have travelled the world and think it does not get much better than Los Angeles, Ometepe Island, Lake Nicargua, Nicaragua.

Additional Location Information

Our 10 acre estate is located 6 kilometres south of the port town of Moyogalpa in the village of Los Angeles. We are 2 blocks towards the beech directly behind the public square. The neighbourhood has an excellent general store, big public square, 5 churches and an excellent vegetable store. The buses travel through the town hourly from 6am til 7 pm.

  George, I wanted to tell you how much my family really enjoyed "Rincon Macedonia" or whatever you call your beautiful home. Emerson and Leyla were awesome and my grandchildren and their children played together for most of the time. Even though we had no electricity for the first night and bouts of it through out the other eves, it was tremendously relaxing for me. I am a pastor in Texas and having the opportunity to just relax (Emerson took the boys for a ride for at least 1 hour) and getting to ride "Nieve the horse" down on the beach (I love to horseback ride) was so relaxing and healing for me.
  We did not know that a reservation was necessary for the ferry, but we spent the morning of our departure at Gerry's coffee shop waiting for an opening and Gerry spoke very well of you. All in all, it was a dream and I hope to visit again soon.

  Comfortable escape on Ometepe

  My husband and I stayed at this comfortable home in the spring of 2010.
  We loved Nicaragua and we loved Ometepe! This well equipped house is a perfect place to retreat for a few days and is an excellent place from which to experience the sights and sounds of the island. The little village that is at the end of the driveway is a wonderful place that completely comes alive in the evenings under the lights of the soccer/basketball courts. I would highly recommend this lovely house for anyone looking to explore Ometepe.

  Ometepe, the farm, the volcano's... everything was amazing!

  This place is one of a kind. The house is gorgeous. The large open living space is accommodating to families and groups of friends. A large patio raps around the front of the house and is a perfect area for dinner parties, games, reading and just kicking back in the hammocks. And the panoramic view overlooking the farm's orchard and Lake Nicaragua was just awe-inspiring.
  
  The finca is about a 10 min drive from the ferry and from the main town. We would ride our bikes to town to check out the action. It's a pleasant ride on the pave-stone road. There was a small convenient store a 3 min walk from the farm that sells beer and other essential items. Its about a 4 min walk down to the water where you can go for a refreshing dip in the lake.
  I must say I really enjoyed being able to grab fresh limes from the tree that encroaches onto the patio (unlimited supply). Oh, and the avocado tree was also great!

  The house and property feels very Nica, local, basic but comfortable for someone used to a higher standard of living. Situated near the village square you can easily step out and mingle with friendly locals or enjoy the privacy of the property's large yard or lake beach front. A Nica care taker family lives discretely on the property but is always helpfull if need be. I found staying there to be very relaxing and a wonderful experience for me and my husband.
