Additional Location Information
Isla Mujeres, the Island of Women, where time passes slowly and your dream vacation becomes a reality.
Isla is the perfect place for a short vacation or a new place to call home. You'll soon agree as you spend your days relaxing on a powder white beach, snorkeling in the crystal blue waters or just lounging in your hammock under your favorite palapa. By night you'll dine on fabulous meals of every variety. After you've eaten your fill, there is still plenty to satisfy all interests. Take a relaxing stroll through the moonlit streets while breathing in the ocean air. If you're so inclined, take in some of the abundant nightlife and maybe even dance your way 'til dawn.
The Isla Mujeres is located due east off the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. It's about eight miles across the Bay of Women (Bahia Mujeres), still in sight of its neighbor to the west, Cancun. Isla is five miles long and roughly one half mile wide at the widest point.
The climate of Isla Mujeres is, as you might expect, PERFECT. The temperature is fairly consistent, hovering around 80 degrees most of the year, with the hottest months from July to September. As far as rain, unless you’re traveling during the wet season, October to November, you're likely to experience an afternoon shower or two at most.
The population, as you've probably guessed, is primarily Mexican. A small amount of us locals are comprised of one-time vacationers who found they couldn’t tear themselves away. The island economy has historically been based around the fishing trade, but as anyone who has spent any time on the island will tell you, tourism isn't losing any ground. A combination of Cancun and the Tulum Corridor bring vacationers to Mexico in droves. The island's charm, beauty, and wonderful residents will prove to be an overwhelming draw as well.

We just got back from a week on Isla and I must say this house was great. We loved the sunrises in the morning and the walk along the sea side walk way which started at the back of the house was nice. Lots of room for 4 people. The porch on the front of the house was nice for when it was to windy to sit out back. It was nice to have the short drive to town for dinners in the evening. And it was always nice to drive to the Gloria neighborhood to Limon for dinner which was outstanding!!! Robin helped me with info before we left and she was very prompt. Ps note to self do not go to Soggy Peso on empty stomach and have a Margarita, I was half in the bag at 1PM, OMG!!! House was clean and decorated nicely. (PS could use a new pair of scissors in the kitchen) Bathrooms nice and always hot water. Hard to get use to putting used toilet paper in trash can, but was quickly converted. Overall I would recommend this house to anyone visiting the island. My only complaint would be able to hang up clothes in the bedroom across from the bathroom. Small detail, maybe a pole from the shelve to the wall. Thank you again Robin for sharing your wonderful house with us. Would stay there again in a heart beat!!!

Boston, Massachusetts, USANice house in a unique location
Left on 02/04/2013 for a stay in January 2013
Case Cielo is a very unique property. It is located at the narrowest part of Isla Mujeres, with the Caribbean at the back of the house, and Bahia Mujeres (the bay between the island and Cancun) at the front of the house, with no structures blocking either view. Our daily routine included taking sunrise pictures from the patio at the back, and taking a beverage up on the roof in the evening to take stunning sunset pictures. The views from the roof may be the best on the island, even better than the penthouse view at the Ixchel Beach hotel, where we have stayed in the past. The roof now has a pergola-covered bar with swing seats. The outside of the house has recently been painted, so it looks great. When you take the ferry from Cancun, you can see the three story blue house to the right of the Navy base.
The first floor apartment has two spacious bedrooms, and two baths. Everything was in good shape, with only a few minor maintenance issues, which Sue and Manuel took care of right away. It is about a fifteen minute stroll to Hidalgo, where most of the restaurants are. We actually found this short walk each way to be a pleasant addition to our evenings, but the ever-available taxis will take you home for 30 pesos.
The open concept living room/kitchen is ideal for entertaining. The internet worked fine for all but one day of our stay. The TV is tiny, but we don't usually watch TV on vacation so that was not a problem. There is a 4-CD player that can also serve as an iPod/iPhone dock. We liked the selection of CDs that the owner provided (we must be from the same generation ;-)
We really enjoyed our two weeks in Casa Cielo.Response from Robin Mostachetti - 02/07/2013

Casa Cielo is an adress to keep in mind. It is clean, has all the amenities of a mnodern home, it is well managed and sits at the outskirt of the main drag; yet a short walk to town. The back of the house is a mere rock throw to the Crabbean sea but the rocky shore and treacherous undertow is a major drawback.
If one is in search of the idyllic, quiet, far away, nestled among a swaying palm tree island with endless sandy beaches there are far better options in the Carabbeans or the South Pacific.
Isla Mujeres is a small and rather populated island. Cost of living is comparable to other island but taxi fares are some of the lowest I have seen.
We enjoyed our one month stay but being somewhat loners,we would most likely seek different skies to blend with our
solitary and aventurous spirit. -

We very much enjoyed our time at Casa Cielo!! The views from both the front and the back are wonderful. We loved listening to the ocean as we slept, and the breeze blowing through was brilliant...the kids have never slept better in their lives! Very easy walk into town (and that is with a walking 2 1/2 year old) where everything is available. The layout of the house is nice, lots of room for the kids and adults alike. We were 2 kids, 2 parents, and 2 grand-parents...and never felt crowded or in each others way. Marla is great, and very, very helpful with island knowledge and suggestions, she really helped to make our trip to Isla so much more. Having Pauncho next door was equally fun, and we enjoyed many moments with him, which continued beyond our stay at Cielo...a very interesting and happy man! Definitely recommend this property for those wishing to stay on the north end, but wanting to have a place with space and peace.

Raleigh, NCWonderful week with our family
Left on 10/28/2010 for a stay in December 2009
We had great communications with owner, Robin, to help us plan this wonderful week then were greeted at the ferry by our Isla Mujeres contact person who, along with Robin, had suggestions of restaurants, shopping, beaches for sunbathing, beaches for swimming, where to rent golf carts, where to buy groceries, fishing charters, etc. Our views were magnificent since the front of the house is on the Bay of Cancun and the back is on the Caribbean Sea. We relaxed in the comfortable house with charming island decor and enjoyed every moment of our week. New Year's Eve in Isla is amazing! The whole island gathers in the square for an all night party with music and dancing. What fun we had!!! Shopping is fun, the food is superb, the people are welcoming, and we can't wait to go back and can't say enough good things about the island and Casa Cielo! You will remember this trip with smiles on your faces!

I traveled with 4 other lady friends and was concerned that space and privacy might be an issue.I was pleasantly surprised the house was large and private with many places to rest or read as well as to gather and socailze. One of my big issues is the beds,I barely sleep in my own bed but didn't want to get out of the bed at Casa Cielo as it was so compfy! The views from each room are out of a travel magazine, not to be believed,Breathtakingly beautiful.
This house is located less than a mile from the ferry,I arrived alone and had no problem getting to the house on my own by foot.We virtually walked to town every day and every night, very doable. We took a cab on two occasions right in front of the house. The convenience of the amenities of this home are superb, the bathrooms are beautiful and spacious, the bedrooms have plenty of storage, the kitchen is well stocked for the basics and the furnishings are sleek and island inspired.I give this home a top review and Isla will embrace you like a long lost friend! -

When visiting the island there is no better location to stay. It is close enough to walk to everything. The house is clean and provided a relaxed and fun atmosphere. I love waking up to the sound of the ocean in the house. The manager was there to help in everything that we needed and provided us with recommendations for all the things we wanted to do. I highly recommend this house to anyone wanting to explore this beautiful island.

Casa Cielo is a beautiful house that sits right on the Caribbean beach with wonderful ocean breezes and the sounds of crashing waves outside the windows. One of the best things about it is its location! It is such a nice walk into town on the seawall, and not much farther to North beach. You definitely save money on a golfcart and taxi's. The layout and decor is open and airy and has a distinctive "Island feel". They have a great stereo system which you can hook your i-pod to, or listen to their great collection of Cd's. The house has Wi-Fi, and a small TV/DVD that you can hook up to the cable if you wanted, but honestly I don't know why you would. It is great to sit on the back patio and look out onto the ocean, or sit on the front porch and watch the sailboats on the bay, or sometimes see the Navy practicing marching drills. The beds are super comfortable, a luxury seldom found in Mexican hotels. The kitchen has everything you would need, although if you enjoy cooking gourmet meals, it might not be for you. There are so many great and inexpensive places to eat, that it shouldn't be too much of a disappointment. All in all, I fell in love with Casa Cielo, and can't wait to go back!

This was actually my second visit and have planed on one again in February 2111. First the house is very comfortable and accommodating with the large double bedrooms and 2 baths, with the comfortable living area on the other side. You can not imagine the views from all rooms. Just the ability of watching the sunrise over the Caribbean and sunset over the bay of Cancun is breathtaking. Walking through the village, quaint restaurants and bar, with superb local food, and great beaches make this an ideal vacation get a way.

The views are incredible and the location could not be better. You can walk to restaurants entertainment and shopping. The owners were accomodating in every way and supply all the amenities. Since this is a newly built home it is pristine inside and out. The value cannot be beat and Isla Mujeres has to be one of the friendliest places we have ever been. I have recommended this lovely home to many family members and they have all been equally impressed. We are going back next year.
