South Fox Lodge is approximately 30 to 35 minutes from Yellowstone National Park's west entrance. If you decide to make this trip, you can experience the park's beautiful rivers, lakes, mountain ranges and canyons. You also might catch a glimpse of some grizzly bears, wolves and bison.
The lodge itself happens to be located in a wooded area close to tails. So you don't actually have to go to Yellowstone to experience nature and wildlife. For days you prefer to take it easy inside the cabin, relax in front of one of the satellite TVs, soak in the hot tub, or warm your hands in front of the fireplace.

We received good service. The one disappointment we had was the lack of the hot tub we had been promised. We had looked forward to that since the day we booked the condo. If we had been given notice before hand it would have been nice.
We loved the home. The decorating, the largeness of it. We loved the table and the counter. We all fit perfectly.. The grandkids loved playing in the loft and all the beds were comfortable. The top loft was a little hot at night and made it uncomfortable to sleep. Some fans would have been nice to move the air around. My husband and I had the master bedroom downstairs and it was absolutely perfect!! One thing we have talked about is going back again, possibly next summer but this time spending all of our time in and around Island Park and out of Yellowstone. We spent too much time driving back and forth and found Yellowstone disappointing because of the lack of animals. The hikes we took around Island Park were beautiful and serene and the fire pit and deck and the swings at the condo were basically unused, which we regret. The best thing was the condo and its location and the stars at night (we have some beautiful pictures of them) and the quietness and serenity of it all, the memories. The least favorite thing was the lack of the hot tub. We love the mountains and everything about them. This vacation was like camping out in the mountains and all the beauty of nature, but with all of the comforts and even some luxuries that we don't have to enjoy everyday in our own homes. -

The cabin was well done and had every luxury. The area was perfect. The cabin was close to everything we wanted to do and see. We all had a great time and made some lifelong memories.
Making the reservation was easy and the staff was always available when I called. -

Kids loved the layout and fun places to explore and sleep. The kitchen was nice, family area comfy but the real delight was the railings for second floor and loft.

Overall exellent. There were some shards of glass in a previously broken window on the outside ot the master bedrooom leading out to the hot tub, and a loose electrical outlet in the left bedroom at the top of the stairs. Other than that fantastic. thank you very much.

I want to give this place an a+ rating, which it almost would have gotten- its an awesome setup- accommodated our family reunion of nine adults and one baby really well! The floor layout is awesome, it is close to Yellowstone and tons of other activities, and we loved the open kitchen and the firepit outside. It had wireless internet, cable tv, laundry facilities, and plenty of space. The big downer was finding bedbugs. We all had to throw away pillows/blankets, and very thoroughly wash everything else at laundromats before we could return to our homes. It was a major hassle and we all felt creepy-crawly for weeks afterward.
The house was generally clean- in fact we didn't find them until the third night, so it wasn't a disgusting or obvious infestation- but once we started looking they were definitely there, evidenced by small blood smears on most of the sheets. We left a couple of the bugs we found in a bag for management so they could verify. The log book showed some foreign guests had stayed there previous to us. My guess is they left behind these unwelcome critters! I would definitely think twice before risking exposure to bedbugs- but if management could guarantee they were eradicated, then this place is pretty nice.Response from Island Park Reservations - 03/18/2011

Problem eradicatied! We have went through this cabin with a fine tooth comb, the cabin recently flooded so the carpet and pad was all replaced. The bed bug problem was taken care of and the house had no complaints since. This is a wonderful cabin and we are so sorry our guest had to go through that. Last year was a bad year for the hospitality business and all in it, but we have battled through it and our cabins are in great shape ! We hope you will return.

We had a great experience in Island Park. It is so beautiful and so much to do. We brought our 4 wheelers and mountain bikes. The fire pit was a fun experience too.
I would recommend that the carpet in the family room be replaced. That was my only complaint. -

This was a beautiful area. Every morning, a moose and her calf would walk by the deck area . The home was beautiful and well kept. The second floor and loft was perfect for our 5 kids.
