Lakefront Log Cabin on Henry's Lake is a waterfront, 2352 sq. ft. 2-story vacation home located in Island Park, Idaho, 20 minutes from Yellowstone National Park. It has 4 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms and sleeps 10 people comfortably, in 4 queen beds and two twins. The deck offers a 200 degree view of the lake, unobstructed by houses and framed with attractive hand-peeled log railings. The home is constructed of 14 inch diameter hand-peeled logs, creating a cozy and rustic atmosphere. Perfectly positioned on the north west shore of Henry's Lake, it offers magnificent views of Henry's Lake to the east, Sawtell Peak and Mount Jefferson to the s...outh, and Saddle Mountain to the west. The beautiful mountains of the Continental Divide loom to the north and wrap around to the east, completing a panoramic, 360 degree view of Rocky Mountain splendor.

This is the perfect place for a fishing vacation because it's situated on one of the finest trophy still water fisheries in the northern Rockies. Trout fishing is excellent because Henry's Lake has abundant populations of cutthroat, rainbow, and hybrid cutbow trout. The largest fish in Henry's Lake are the rainbow cutthroat hybrids that tip the scales up to 16 pounds. The state record for brook trout weighs in at 7.2 pounds and was caught in Henry’s Lake. The home has a private marina nearby with boat launch available for your use. A boat rental company and cleaning station, Wild Rose Ranch, is five minutes way. Or you might like to fish the nearby Madison, Henry's Fork of the Snake River, or the Island Park Reservoir in Island Park. Yellowstone Lake and the rivers of Yellowstone and Hebgen Lake in Montana are also well within reach. You'll enjoy returning to this lovely log home after a day of fishing or exploring Yellowstone National Park.

The cabin is situated on a 1.24 acre property in a quiet neighborhood of half a dozen homes. The lawn is well maintained and an automatic sprinkler system keeps it lush and green. The back deck has a BBQ grill and outdoor seating. You'll enjoy quality time with friends and family as you gaze upon ponds and the vast lake beyond. Gorgeous views of Henry's Lake and the mountains will encourage you to relax and unwind as you take in the peace and quiet.

Located a half mile from Targhee National Forest on the north, the property is visited by elk, deer and moose. Ducks and geese frequent the property's ponds, while local osprey cruise the shoreline, providing excellent bird watching opportunities.

You will love the western decor with its attractive hand-peeled log furniture, dining table, chairs, and rustic aspen beds. The great room has a beautiful new oak floor with three comfortable leather couches situated around a flat screen TV with satellite service, DVD player and Ipod entertainment system. The white tail deer on the walls add to the rustic charm. The adjoining kitchen is fully equipped with anything you might need to cook a meal including olive oil and spices.

The log staircase in the great room leads to the Bear Room in the loft where a queen size bed and two twin beds are located. The adjoining bathroom has a sink and shower.

The large dining room offers magnificent views of Henry's Lake. It features a wagon wheel chandelier with antique lanterns and a 10 person cedar dining room table. You'll enter the Trout Room (the master bedroom) from the dining room. It has a queen size bed and fantastic views of Henry's Lake and the distant mountains. The adjoining bathroom shared with the Elk Room features two sinks, a shower and an attractive claw foot bath tub.

The Elk Room has a queen size bed and a view of Saddle Mountain where herds of elk can sometimes be seen in the fall. Exquisite elk antler light sconces grace this room. The Yellowstone Room has a queen size bed and is located just off the great room under the loft. It has an adjoining full bathroom with a sink and shower. There are two locations in the home where you can do your laundry, one in a closet in the Yellowstone Room suite and one in a utility room.

Other activities:

Yellowstone Park with its thermal features and abundant wildlife is only 20 minutes from the home. The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone with its towering waterfalls can be viewed from several vistas such as Artist's Point, offering magnificent panoramas. There is a Yellowstone Expedition Guide available for your use at the home which will assist you in planning your trips to the Park. Teton National Park is a must see and well within reach during a day trip.

Another attraction in Island Park that's worth a visit are the Upper and Lower Mesa Falls. You might also enjoy horseback riding or a scenic hike in Harriman State Park.

  I loved this property. My favorite part about staying here (August, October) was the quiet. When you opened the lakeside door you could hear the ducks and birds. You could hear the water lapping at the shoreline. I just immediately relaxed every time I stepped out on the porch.
  In October, there was a beautiful mist that moved across the lake in the early morning as I had my tea. It's lakefront property 20 minutes from Yellowstone, with the feeling of privacy. And of course the fishing was awesome for my husband, and close by. My hubby caught a lake trout bigger than 2 lbs. every 15 minutes at Yellowstone Lake, actually outfished the guides. Ooops, now I'm bragging. He's hankering to go back, as it is difficult to get to good fishing in So. California. The guys went fishing and the girls went animal watching, shopping or just hung out at the cabin. It was a great vacation for everyone.
  The animals in the park were great. We had a bison cross the road in front of our car and watched the same one charge another car that tried to pass the bison. Another time I got bit by a black fly when I rolled down the window to take a picture, because we were so close to a bison walking down the road in West Yellowstone.
  Oh, and my favorite place to eat was The Trout Hunter. Go when it would be comfortable sitting outside. (It's not worth it to eat inside.) The Trout Hunter is a half hour south of the property, at the south end of Island Park and across the street from Rainbow Realty, and definitely worth it. The food was great. But the best part is that you're sitting in an unshaded courtyard, surrounded with grass, next to the river. Just awesome. We will go there every time we go back.
