Fabulous turf-roofed guest accommodation set in an beautiful secluded spot high on the Oa peninsula on the Hebridean island of Islay, Scotland. The architect designed lodge is clad in local stone and has been carefully built by island and Argyll craftsmen. With its turf roof the building appears to flow out of the landscape in perfect harmony with its very special surroundings. Set high in a world of its own on the Oa peninsula Coillabus enjoys wonderful views over heather and sea towards, Ireland, Kintyre and the rest of Islay. Yet the ldge is just a ten minute drive from the village of Port Ellen and a half hour flight from Glasgow International Airport. The island of Islay is known as the Queen of the Hebrides and is famed for its eight iconic malt whisky distilleriess, miles of sandy beaches, wildlife and bird watching, golf and watersports. The lodge has a fishing permit for trout fishing on the nearby lochs. Golden eagles are spotted regularly from the wide galleried windows of Coillabus.
