(This is a review from 2010 but dont have that option) I travel to Harris regularly with friends and family, on this occasion back in april 2010 it was a large group of friends for a long weekend, we had a great time, brilliant value for money. Graham the owner was lovely and was always about if we needed him. The house was lovely so far is the best I've rented yet x

EdinburghFabulous house in a perfect location.
Left on 02/28/2013 for a stay in July 2012
July 2012.
We were married in Tarbert, Harris on the 20th of July and this house was the perfect place for us.
The house accommodated the Brides parents, her Sister and Husband and their 3 year old girl. The Bride, Groom and our teenage daughter and 3 year old son.
All nine of us stayed very comfortably.
On the ground floor, there is a nice sunroom just off of the large living room. A large dining room. A large well equipped kitchen with another eating area. Furthermore there is a huge utility and drying room which is perfect esp after long walk and the beaches or in the hills.
Upstairs, the 4 bedrooms are all a good size and the main bathroom has a seperate bath and shower. The master bedroom is stunning with an en-suite shower room. The rooms are all freshly decorated with a contemporary and cosy feel.
Outside, the large garden and decking area are excellent. The driveway has enough room for at least 3 cars and is gated off which was reassuring with 2 three year olds running around.
Overall, we were very impressed and look forward to returning in the future.

Left on 01/31/2013 for a stay in August 2012
Our family of two adults and kids aged 10 and 13 spent a week in Collam Villa in august 2012. The property was very well-equipped (especially the kitchen) and Graham could not have been more helpful or attentive. The decor was attractive and fresh, and the location of Collam could not be better - 2 mins walk to pub or hotel for meals and 5 mins walk to shops for groceries. Harris itself exquisite as ever.

Ten of us had the pleasure of staying at Collam Villa last September. Arriving off the Tarbert ferry the house is less than a five minute drive away. We received a lovely warm welcome from the owner Graham's mum and dad. They gave us a tour of the house and all the information we needed for our stay. We were delighted! The house sits overlooking Tarbert with sea views over to skye. It's large and roomy and although there were a lot of us,including a two year old,it never felt crowded. It's beautifully furnished and decorated, and has everything you'll need...even board games. The sun shone for us and the scenery was breathtaking. The location is perfect for exploring the island and beyond. If you fancy a meal or drink, Harris Hotel is just a few minutes walk away . It was perfect! Left a bit of our heart there so I'm sure we'll return again.

We stayed here with another family for a week (4 adults and 4 children). We had a great time. Really nice spacious big house. We particularly liked the little sun porch and the deck. Very clean and the owner is very friendly and helpful. It has great access North to Lewis and South down to all the beaches etc. The weather was even sensational! Would highly recommend.

we spent a week in Tarbert, exploring Harris and Lewis. The house is wonderful, enough room for 7 people and only 5 minutes from the ferry. Tabert is a good place to visit Harris (and Uigh) in the south and Lewis in the north. The people are friendly and the village has a public swimming pool with a sauna. We will surely come back.

We had read a lot about the outer Hebs but found that it was a good deal wilder and remote than any other part of Scotland we had been to. Having Graham's house for a week was ideal - partly because it is so central, and because it was a big house to a very high spec that made the stay a real pleasure.

We rented Collam Villa for my parents, grandmother, and a few other guests to stay in following our wedding on the Isle of Harris, and it couldn't have been better.
Communication before our stay was friendly and responses were received quickly, and Graham and his father were very helpful upon arrival.
The house itself is beautiful and very clean, with every amenity you could wish for. The location is perfect with a wonderful view from the deck and an easy walk into the town of Tarbert.
My mum never wanted to leave!
Thanks Graham for putting our family and guests up in style. Cannot recommend Collam Villa enough. -

We found out about this house at the tourist office.
We stayed 3 nights in a double bedroom with shared bathroom. For the first 2 nights we were lucky because the other guests were very discreet. I was a bit scheptical having to share the bathroom, but we had no problem at all.
The house seems to have been just refurbished (eventhough it was done 4 years ago), the owner Graham really takes excellent care of it. He's very kind and available in giving advice, suggestions, very friendly.
The fridge is filled everyday with yoghurts, ham, sausages, milk, fruit, and there's always bread avialable. The kitchen table has wonderful windows with great views.
There's an outer deck in the garden, if the weather is good I suggest you have breakfast there, or a cup of tea. Very relaxing. The house also has an ensuite double bedroom, another double room w/shared bathroom, and a twin room with a confortable bunk bed. -

We had an excellent stay in Collam Villa in May 2012 - Graham was very helpful with suggestions of places to visit, restaurants and local contacts so we could use our time on the islands effectively. The villa is very clean and spacious with everything you need. We were fortunate to have glorious weather so could enjoy the beautiful scenery of Harris and Lewis, and then relax on the terrace in the evening with not too many midges. The villa is in the perfect location for day trips, with Tarbert being on your doorstop which has all the essential shops you need including the Harris Tweed shop. We particularly enjoyed our scallops delivered by a local fisherman who taught us how to open and cook them - a highlight for us all, thanks Graham for the telephone number. We would definitely return if we are ever back in Harris and will be recommending the villa to our friends and family.

Left on 04/25/2012 for a stay in March 2012
We arrived at Collam Villa very late due to ferry crossings and travel etc. Graham was there when we arrived to ensure we got ther safely and to go through key points in the house, electric, boiler etc.
The house itself is stunning. So beautifully finished and very spacious. There were three of us in the house and it could quite comfortable have treble that many people.
The weather was not on our side as it often isn't in the Hebrides and so it made such a difference having a warm, comfortable home to spend rainy evenings in. This did mean we didn't get to use the sun trap but it is a lovely place to stand and take in the loch views on either side.
The house is perfectly situated. We wanted somewhere remote and considered a crofters cottage but Collam Villa is just on the edge of the village, close enough to walk in to but also on the top of a hill so you get a great view down on the street below without being surrounded by houses.
We spent most of our holiday travelling around the outer hebrides with Collam Villa as a base. If you want to do this then it is perfectly placed. You are just around the corner from the Tarbert ferry and half an hours drive to Leverburgh for the ferry to Uist. Stornoway is about an hours drive away so you have everything within easy distance. We managed to get from Tarbert all the way down to Eriskay off South Uist and back in one day, very easy!
There are local shops in Tarbert and a petrol station. One shop in particular sells absolutely everything you could possibly imagine and more!
I would not hesitate to stay in Collam Villa again. It is a little more expensive than your average cottage but it is well worth paying that little bit extra as what you get in return is fantastic! -

Left on 12/12/2011 for a stay in May 2011
We decided to push the boat out this year and book a luxury villa for our holiday...and boy were we glad we did!! The weather for most of our week could best be described as " a bit disappointing ". Wind and rain were the main ingredients and if it hadn't been for the excellent facilities we enjoyed at Collam Villa our long anticipated break would have been a real let down.
When we arrived on the ferry and made our way to the villa we had a moment of concern as the house was locked and no-one was there to meet us. Slight panic but after a short telephone conversation with the owner all was well. We were soon settled in after the owner gave us a very thorough tour of the property , explaining where everything was and how the heating system etc worked.
The living areas were spacious , well furnished and very comfortable. The kitchen/diner was well equipped and we had most of our meals there. The main dining room was also well appointed and would be very useful for larger parties ( there were only 4 of us ).
The utility room was well located , well equipped and much used during our visit. We needed to change out of wet clothes and boots and this room was invaluable. The only thing missing was a bench or seats to make those tasks a bit easier.
The bedrooms were very comfortable and had plenty of wardrobe and drawer space for our clothes. The bathrooms were all that you would expect in a property of this caliber.
The property was very clean and well maintained throughout. A very pleasant place to spend a relaxing holiday.
The wi-fi facility was very welcome and much used when the wind & rain kept us in.
Located in Tarbert the villa is well situated for exploring Harris & Lewis...and there is much to see. In spite of the weather we travelled throughout the islands and had some memorable days. We particularly enjoyed a trip to Huishnish where the sun at last appeared.
Hopefully we'll have better luck with the weather on our next visit. -

Collam Villa was a wonderful base for touring harris and Lewis. Our party was extended family of various ages including Granny aged 84. The accomodation was first class and the kitchen facilities were excellent. The villa has amazing views of the east and west lochs at Tarbert.
We especially enjoyed the lawn mower [a sheep!].
The Islands are beautiful and there is so much to do and see - the beaches on Harris are truly outstanding.

We stayed here for a week in July and absolutely loved the whole experience. Collam Villa is immaculate and stylish, with everything you need for a great stay. The quality of the interior was impressive, all rooms colour co-ordinated and tastefully finished. Lots of space inside the villa, so it didnt feel crowded. We particularly loved the patio outside, with amazing views, great to watch the sun go down with a glass of vino. Graham gave us a very warm welcome and was so helpful in every way, nothing was too much trouble and really made us feel at home. The location is great, scenic and peaceful, with a few decent local pubs, amazing beaches throughout Harris. We really did not want to leave! Can't wait to go back, would highly recommend Collam Villa and is worth every penny.

Superb week in Collam Villa.
The service provided by Graham was second to none from initial enquiry to our departure. The house was really comfortable and had everything we needed. Location was great and there are really lovely views to both sides of the villa. The proximity to the village and the pub made it ideal (would highlighly recommend the food at the Isle of Harris Inn).

The situation of the house,in the village of Tarbet, our arrival port, was not only convenient, but unexpectedly sited to provide us with privacy and with pretty unique views to the sea both east and west.
The heating and all appliances worked perfectly without complications.
The accommodation was as described on the website, the only problem being the lack of a dining table to seat nine.
The house was particularly convenient to explore the northern section of the Outer Isles, the fabulous beaches, the mountains, the remote coastal villages, and the extraordinary archaeology.

We all had a lovelt time whilst staying at Collum Villa.(we stayed with three other couples) The house is beautifully presented with everything you could need for your stay and the personal touches made such a difference. We were staying with three dogs and the large boot room on entering the house ensured that the dogs could be cleaned and dried before entering the main rooms. The house was spacious enough for even the largest of our dogs (an irish woifhound) the small consevatory with it's lovely view is a great place to escape to if you need a quiet few minutes and we watched two golden eagles (with binoculars) from the large decking area in the garden. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend! Fabulous!

This was our first visit to Harris and to this lovely villa, which was spacious, well furnished and equipped to a high standard. The weather was very good lovely and sunny. We enjoyed a picnic on the beautiful sunny beaches on the west coast of Harris just a short distance from the villa, spent the day at an agricultural show, enjoyed walks and car runs to various places and enjoyed relaxing evenings in the garden.
We (7 of us ) made the trip to St Kilda on the day boat Sea Harris which sailed from Leverburgh - this was an adventure - which we would thoroughly recommend. We also fitted in a short drive to Lewis - the Callanish Stones, Stornoway museum for the Lewis Chessmen exhibition..etc etc.
Although we thoroughly enjoyed all our activities on Harris It was always nice to return to the villa and enjoy the comforts it provided..
Thank you...

We arrived to a warm welcome from Roddy, the owner's father. The house is well furnished and was spacious enough for our group of 9 plus a baby. There's ample space for storage of walking gear, wetsuits and surfboards in the greenhouse or shed.
For food its worth checking out the Hotel Hebrides at the harbour or the anchorage if you are in Leverburgh. Local stores are well stocked. For shoppers there's tweed galore and lots of galleries, the pick of which are the Skoon art Cafe and Post in amhuinnsuide.
There are amazing walks, great beaches and waves, fascinating wildlife and a week was nowhere near enough time to do justice to Harris let alone Lewis. There were even Red Deer in the garden.
Also worth mentioning are the trip to St Kilda (try kildacruises), great local seafood (try Shona in Tarbert), and the Lewis Chessmen exhibition at the Museum in Stornoway.

The property is in an excellent location within the village of Tarbert with superb views due to an elevated position. Inside the property is large and spacious, plenty of room for a large or extended family. Everything you require is catered for and upstairs in the bedrooms, the fabrics used and furnishing add a touch of luxury to your stay. Our family stayed at Collum Villa for 4 days in March 2011. On arrival we were immediately met with a very warm, personal welcome. The house was spacious, beautifully furnished and decorated to a very high standard as well as being scrupulously clean and fresh. The kitchen and utility rooms were very well equipped and tea, coffee and milk had all been left out for us which helped in making our arrival at Collum Villa even more relaxing. The house has a bright and nicely furnished conservatory area, with beautiful outlooks to both East and West Loch Tarbert from throughout the house. As well as being given all the information we required on fixtures and fittings on arrival, we were also advised the garden might be visited by a couple of deer in the evenings, and so it proved. I could not praise the welcome, the accomodation and the setting more highly. We will definately be back for a return stay.

I would love to go back again and stay in the house in the summer so i could make full use of the beautiful beaches Harris has to offer.
Could not find one single fault with the house or the service and would highly recommend it. -

Collam Villa is a great place to stay if you want convenient and high quality accommodation. 2 minutes from the ferry and a stone's throw from the pubs and shops of Tarbet. The house is extremely clean and very well equipped with a lot of thought (and good taste) going into the choice of furniture, in particular in the bedrooms. It does have a modern house feel so if you are hoping for a traditional blackhouse or croft, or fisherman's cottage this might not be for you but if you want to relax in hotel-standard holiday house it's perfect!

We stayed at Collam Villa in early October and were blown away by how gorgeous this house is. We had read the reviews and looked at the photos but they really did not do the house justice. On entering the house you will be amazed at how spacious it is, while still managing to be cosy and welcoming. The house is perfectly placed in a quiet location and yet you can walk easily to the lovely village in a few minutes. The nicest swimming pool I have ever used (modern, spotless and friendly) is a few minutes walk away. There is also a childrens playpark nearby.
The house is well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Graham, the owner, is very obliging and knowledgable of the area and will give you all the information you will need about your stay. Harris is a beautiful Island with some of the most stunning beaches and scenery I have ever seen. This really is a wonderful place to stay - I cant recommend it enough and we will definetly be returning next year! -

I had called Graham (the owner of Collam Villa) asking if he could accommodate my request for when I was coming over the Isle of Harris and he couldn't have been more gracious and helpful. We had extended family coming over to see not only Scotland but the UK and they were very impressed. It was a shame that the weather wasn't bright and beautiful for our whole stay but that is Scotland for you.
I whole heartedly recommend this place to anyone who would like a place to stay whilst exploring what the Islands and Highlands have to offer. It was a home away from Home.
Thank you again. Hope to see you again in the future. -

The property is lovely- furnished to a very high standard with everything you could wish for. The house is cosy and the location is fantastic for touring all of Harris and Lewis. I am sure we will go back - we had a fantastic two weks and felt thoroughly refreshed when we returned to work. I can't recommend it more highly!

from our initial arrival to our departure we were made very welcome in high quality accommodation. We have rented many self catering proprties in scotland and this is the best so far.The experience matched the expectation created in the particulars. The location is perfect for exploring Harris and being 2 mins from the ferry terminal is a real plus.We left very satisfied.
Our only comment would be around the showers, great to have them but they are not particularly effective. -

Had a wonderful time in Harris in a wonderful self
catering home - that is what it was a home from home.
It is the first holiday ever we have not wanted to
come home and wished that we had booked it for longer
- we will certainly be back and look forward to
hearing of any other ventures which Graham enters
into. The attention to detail was wonderful and
there was nothing missed out. Graham was so
knowledgeable about the island and was able to point
us in the right direction for seeing the sites and
also for getting fresh seafood. Well done Graham!
Even the weather was kind to us in early March. -

We stayed at Collam Villa for 4 nights last August. The accommodation is top quality and Graham went out of his way to make us most welcome. If you are visiting Harris, I would strongly recommend Collam Villa.

The service from the staff could not be better! The house was totally renovated with new comfortable furniture including a glass veranda with a beautiful view. The location on a hill is excellent with almost no noisy traffic around the building. Not far from city center.A lot of different food in the kitchen for your breakfast. To sit in the veranda of glass in the evening overlooking the landscape was great.Disadvantages? Difficult to find any,the only thing I can think of is a need for a little more heating, specially in the bathroom.

We (the 2 of us) came to Harris with 1 night's accommodation booked at a hotel thinking we would camp for a few nights after that but the weather turned very windy so we needed to find another roof for the night. we were recommended to give Graham a call and happily we were able to get a room in Collam Villa.
The house was very modern- the high end of Ikea- very comfortable and very clean. The house was then offered on a room basis where you shared kitchen, living and dining space with others. The fridge and cupboards were well stocked with breakfast stuff. We thought it was a great balance of the freedom of self catering with the social opportunities offered in hotels and guest houses. We met some interesting fellow travellers. I understand that the house may now be offered simply as a whole house rental. If this is the case then book it, you'll enjoy it- round the corner from a hotel with good food and beers and close to the ferry point. -

The owner, Graham, was very friendly and helpful. The house was beautifully presented and comfortable with lots of useful extras thought of and provided and everything as new!
There are great views over the harbour from one side of the house and sea views and mountains the other!
It's a few minutes walk down to the main street shops, the bar and the swimming pool from the house and there is a small childrens' playground a few minutes away too. Our children also enjoyed painting pottery and the hot chocolate at the tearoom near the ferry terminal. It only takes about 15 minutes to drive to some of the best and most beautiful sandy beaches in the world!!
It was a brilliant place for our family of 5 plus 2 grandparents to share and be able to spread out in!
It was only the rain and some midges that tried to spoil our wonderful holiday! -

We stayed at Collum Villa recently & would recommend this house to anyone looking for top quality accommodation on the Isle of Harris. Finished to a high standard, this is a very well furnished modern house in the main town of Tarbert. Sky TV & wifi internet access included. The owner is extremely helpful going that extra mile to ensure your stay will be a memorable one.

Stayed here for a few days when all hotels were booked on arrival at Tarbert. Great choice as the house gave us the freedom to eat breakfast when we wanted to and cook or bring back food to enjoy at our leisure. The rooms are clean and well decorated and appointed, but you have to be happy to share with other residents. Still a second toilet downstairs so not a problem. The house is very well appointed, comfortable and warm with everything you need. The owner was attentive and very helpful, and we would stay here again if we returned to Tarbert.

A fantastic stay in a superbly equipped, high end house with views that will stay with us for some time to come.
The owners have great local knowledge being local themselves and are on hand with recommendations and advise whenever you need them.
We had a great time in the midst of a very cold hebridean winter and would definitely return!! -

We were the second people to stay. The house is clean, spacious, modern and in a good location for Harris and the southern islands. The house is a business, its well furnished, not full of second hand tat and not cluttered with ornaments. There were 8 of us and it didn't feel at all claustrophobic. The owner is friendly and helpful. We'd stay again.
