The Pennyghael Estate covers approx. 10,000 acres, stretching from the shores of Loch Scridain southwards to the sea cliffs at Carsaig, overlooking Jura, Islay and Colonsay, and westwards for 5 miles from Pennyghael village. There is abundant wildlife on this beautiful island and visitors may see otters, red deer, sea eagles and golden eagles. For hill-walking, Mull has endless opportunities and there are splendid coastal walks along rugged unspoilt shores. On the estate, loch fishing for brown trout is free and shooting in season can be arranged at an extra charge. TroonHogmanay in Mull
Left on 01/25/2012 for a stay in December 2011
This cottage is warm with a good log fire and lovely views- also good walks up the glen , sea eagles can be seen and peregrines. The garden has a fence- good for children and dogs. Dismayed not to have towels provided and the directions were useless- getting off a ferry in the cold , wet dark of December, you need a lot more than was given. However finding the estate manager , By chance, he was very kind and led us there. You need to be fairly self sufficient, not many shops about and there was no mobile or landlines available when we were there.I would say that the cottage was basic and comfortable and we( 4 adults) were happy and therefore good value. Little niggles were 4light bulbs /3 night store heaters not working,( other heaters were there, and loads of previous tenants food in the kitchen- enough out of date oil to run a chip shop! The weather was consistently wet and we had to dry out every time we went out!Go to enjoy, scenery- the scenic route to Salem, the wildlife and the peace.

Spectacular views greeted us as we arrived on a sunny day, and within a couple of hours we had seen a golden eagle and a sea eagle. Later we managed to photograph an otter. Apart from the very rocky road to the house travel was easy for the careful driver (single track roads). Bunessan and Iona were within easy reach and the latter is always worth a visit, no matter how often one goes. All in all an excellent holiday place, even in wet weather!

Left on 08/17/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We arrived in loveley sunshine and straightaway we could see the seal's from the windows on the island. The pictures on the website do not do it justice. Great location. You need to take supplies with you as the shop in Pennyghael does not stock much and is not reliable for openings.

Left on 10/16/2010 for a stay in June 2010
We keep returning to Mull and, in particular, to Torrans. Paul Chauvet, the Pennyghael Estate Manager, will always put himself out to help and, should the occasion arise, deal with any problem. Otherwise, you are left alone to enjoy the delightful location of Torrans and the stunning views and wildlife. We would love to be able to keep it to ourselves!!
