This house is beautifully maintained and cared for. Our only slight negative comments are that it is next to a busy road and therefore can be a little noisy at the front of the house. Not sure whether we just didn't spot this on pre holiday info but some tea, coffee, salt and pepper to us are given as the norm unless advised to the contrary. The owners were attentive and quick to respond to any queries. Lovely place to stay. Read more
Thank you for the review. I am sorry there should have been some tea and there was salt and pepper at the back of the cupboard. Deborah
A lovely experience

We stayed here this summer for a few days. The accommodation is spacious and nicely furnished. The booking was dealt with efficiently and flexibly. You have to be aware that the road outside the house is busy and as roads are, it was a little noisy at night, but this didn't really negatively impact on our stay because the house itself is really nice. What made the experience was sitting out on the sheltered balcony for dinner on sunny summer evenings (it is on the opposite side to the road and therefore is quiet) and really does have stunning views. The lounge/diner is very large and comfortable, with a nice dining table and comfy sofas. Overall our experience was very positive Read more
Thank you for the great review. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay and that the weather was good for you to enjoy the balcony. Deborah

We stayed at this property for four nights at the end of July 2013 whilst we attended a wedding celebration. This property has to be one of the best that we have stayed in. The house is deceiving from the outside but the interior exceeded all expectations. It is spacious, very well present and provides all of the comforts and luxuries of home.
As for dealings with the owner, Mrs Sare, these were very professional as well as being outstandingly efficient.I will definitely stay here again when visiting this part of the country. Read more

We had a lovely stay at 65 Fortuneswell, The accommodation was extremely comfortable and well equipped.
The balcony over-looking the sea was magical especially when enjoying a glass of wine on the hot evenings.
Even the stairs were a bonus keeping us fit!
All the family had a wonderful time. Read more

We enjoyed a delightful week holiday at 65 Fortuneswell - a very well appointed, attractively furnished townhouse-style cottage on the Isle or Portland in Dorset. The cottage was immaculately clean and very well appointed, with wonderful views from both the sitting room and, especially, the 3rd floor balcony which is accessed through the hallway and the main bedroom. Within walking distance of Chesil Beach and within an easy drive of many other interesting places. Deborah Sare, the owner, has thought of all the niceties that make arrival so pleasant from clear, specific directions and information about access to tea and biscuits in the kitchen. I made inquiries and reservations through the Internet, and Deborah always answered promptly. She is also very available if you need help with anything (as americans we were unfamiliar with how the heating system worked, for example), but not at all obtrusive. The only reservation I have is for people who have mobility issues, especially people who use a wheelchair, that the house is not accessible as it includes 4 stories, so you do need to be able to climb stairs. Otherwise, it's great - a lovely retreat in a gorgeous part of the country. Read more
Thank you for the review I am glad you enjoyed your stay - it was a pleasure to meet you both. Deborah

I spent the weekend at 65 Fortuneswell with 4 girlfriends. Before we got there the booking process and communication with the owner was excellent. We were given loads of information about places to visit and eat/drink. When we got there... Wow! That view from the top balcony is something else! (It certainly helped that the sun came out to play all weekend). The whole place is beautifully decorated and we really liked the fact the beds could be requested to made up as singles or doubles. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need. We found the location to be really convenient for visiting Weymouth and checking out the sites around Portland. There's lots of pubs/restaurants within easy walking distance and a Co-op a couple of doors down. All in all we had a wonderful weekend and I would not hesitate recommending it to friends and family.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 65 Fortuneswell. The house is very well equipped and what made it for us was the master bedroom with the big balcony and it's view of the sea!!! Even though the house is on a main road we didn't find it too noisy at all, especially as two of the bedrooms face out towards the back of the house. The sitting/dining room is so spacious and you can even sit in the bay windows and watch the world go by! Having a parking space is also a plus.
There is a Coop just down the road for convenience but even better, a Tesco if you drive up to Easton where you can also find a lovely coffee/gallery shop just off the square called 'White Stones'.
There are plenty of walks around Portland and a walk down to the Marina (where they intend to have part of the Olympics this year!)is also a must.
We would definitely recommend a stay here, thank you Deborah!

What a lovely week we had - bookmarked by returns to a really wonderful house in Portland. Everyone in our party enjoyed the stay - I only wish we could have stayed longer. the rooms were great - plenty of space and the balcony off the master bedroom has the best views of portland. The location is so convenient - just up the road from the coop and the chip shop - and there was plenty of room for all of us to have dinners together around the table. We will be back. Thanks!

This is a wonderful property in Portaland, very close to Weymouth. The house is modern, comfortable and very clean. 3 large bedrooms will easily accommodate 6 adults. A well stocked kitchen, a well furnished living room, 2 full bathrooms, a balcony overlooking the sea, and private parking round out a great property. We were worried that the property may be cold in the winter, but double-glazing sorts this out. The master bedroom opens out on to a large balcony, which makes me want to go back there during the summer.
It is a stones thrown from a Co-op for all your grocery needs and across the street is a bus stop. A handful of very good pubs/restaurants are within walking distance.
We did have a little trouble getting in to the house, but it probably had to do with us arriving close to midnight and it being a cold, January night. Deborah provided us with very clear instructions and lots of information on the local area. Booking and reservation was very easy.

A lovely little house, pleasantly decorated, and with private parking immediately behind. Located onto a surprisingly busy road, but the double glazing deadens most of the noise, and the master bedroom and second bedroom face the other way (towards sea) and as such are quiet. Wonderfully spacious balcony at the top of the house on which you can catch evening sun and look out to sea. Overall a very well presented and laid out house, with excellent facilities. Conveniently the local supermarket (small) is only about two minutes walk making shopping and cooking very easy.

Lovely property with an excellent central location. We travelled with our seven month old twins and needed the advantage of space, car parking and a good accomodation. This beat that hands down. Excellent all round, Clean, tidy and on site parking too. We liked it so much we are thinking of booking again with some friends. Easy check in on site too.

We booked this property very last minute. We are due to get married in July and due to the stresses of planning a wedding we needed a well deserved break away from all the stress. This gave us exactly what we needed. A beautiful and very comfortable property in a lovely location. The local pub, the Cove House Inn- a must visit. Thank you very much,

We had a great time staying at 65 Fourtuneswell. My husband toddler and I thoroughly enjoyed our time on Portland. The house is perfect and a great location for getting to good local facilities, restuarants and beaches. The master bedroom and balcony are particularly stunning in this house! Would definitely recommend.

This is a hidden gem of a place. My partner and i booked for a few days away to de stress as we were moving house not long after. We loved this property. It was extremely clean and fully equipped with dish washer, washing machine and 2 loo's. But the thing that was very special about this place was the balcony off the top bedroom. Wow factor. This place was so perfect that i proposed to my partner with the view of the sea beside us. We will probably celebrate by going back a year on. Thank you to Deborah for a wonderful stay.

My family and I stayed at 65 Fortuneswell while on Portland this summer and it was perfect. Such a beautiful holiday cottage set in just the perfect location. It had great views out of every window!! We were rather disappointed to be staying in England for our holiday this year, but Portland far exceeded our expectations! We highly recommend!!!
