Description from the owner
The Apartment is situated just 100 metres from the high tide mark of a sheltered bay and has an uninterrupted view over Loch Snizort Beag to the Outer Hebrides in the distance. Although in an idyllic peaceful location it is ideally located for touring the whole of Skye as well as local walks .
The bay is home to otters, seals and a variety of seabirds. You can even harvest mussels, cockles and whelks at low tide while exploring the easily accessed pebble and black sand shoreline. Golden and Sea Eagles can be spotted overhead. A profusion of Orchids and Primroses and an abundance of other wild flowers can be found on the headland an...Read more

Left on 04/10/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We spent 9 days in this lovely tranquil apartment with fabulous views to the loch spotting the seals and the otters. There was everything we could possibly need to make our stay comfortable with some good eateries handy to visit in Portree and Waternish. There was plenty of room for four people in the apartment and very comfy beds. Excellent roads for cycling with hardly any potholes made our holiday even better.

This cosy apartment is in a beautiful location, we enjoyed spotting birds and seals in the Loch over breakfast!
The owners were very friendly and helpful. The apartment was as well stocked with maps, walking routes and local information as the tourist information office!
Armed with this wealth of information Knott is a great base from which you can explore the island. It's not far from Portree either where you can find shops, cafes, etc.
Great value in the low season and you practically have the island to yourselves!
Knott cottage was recommended to us by friends who stayed in the Summer and we'd definitely recommend it to others. -

This was our third visit. We love the warm welcome and homely atmosphere of the place. The accommodation is cosy and well appointed ~ all the home comforts one needs for an enjoyable holiday. The accommodation is well situated in a quiet, peaceful location with superb views across the loch ~ on clear days the Outer Isles are visible! Despite its quiet location, access to the main road is just two minutes away ~ and then just ten minutes, or so, takes you to the principle town of Skye, Portree. For nature enthusiasts, wildlife we've seen from and around the cottage includes wild orchids, common seals, roe deer, otter, porpoise and sea eagle etc.. There are many things we like about Knott Cottage, too numerous to mention, but nothing we don't like. It is a fabulous place in a fabulous location.

From the time we arrived until the time we left,Joyce was always available to give good advice on places to eat and where to see wildlife- the purpose of our holiday. The apartment exceeded our expectations with fantastic views up the loch and out to sea.All our needs were met with great attention to detail. We enjoyed the peace and tranquillity of Knott but had to plan our shopping well in advance or face a lengthy drive to get basic provisions. No corner shop!

We have been to Skye a number of times, my first being in the late 1960's when I was in school and fell in love with the island.
This was our first trip without our children [both well into their twenties] so we were able to do what we wanted accompanied by the dog: coffee shops, galleries, artists, wool and sheepskins, more coffee shops, Loch Coruisk boat trip, the Three Chimneys [but only for lunch] and coral beaches. It was a wonderful break and the accommodation was excellent as well. You can't find a better sink to wash up in, the rooms were well equipped and comfortable, and we were allowed in to see their two apartments as well, which were beautifully equipped too. The welcome was warm, the e-mail contact helpful, and the midges were kept at bay by the winds and the occasional showers. Able to visit the Toy Museum at Glendale for the last time as it is closing, but go up the road to the Red Roof gallery and cafe for some food. Lucy's at Dunvegan is a fabulous cake shop that wouldn't be out of place in the most civilised of southern suburbs,The Flodigarry has a wonderful view out to sea on the terrace but the scones and tea were expensive [£15 for two!]. There are so many places to go and see that you will rarely be disappointed, and the scenery is breathtaking. It is a long way from Fort William, but your heart leaps with anticipation the moment you cross the bridge on to Skye. We will be back, and if the dog returns to our daughter, we will be back to the apartments and the Heggies. Thanks.

We had a fantastic weeks holiday in an idyllic location, the apartment being open plan was ideal for a family. It was clean modern and catered for all our needs. We received a warm welcome from the owners, who were very happy to suggest places to eat etc,. Accommodation was excellent value for money and well located to explore north Skye. Very much hope to stay there again next year!

Left on 09/27/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We stayed at the Knotts Cottage apartment for a week in July 2012 and we loved it. The children (4 and 8) actually want to live there (and adopt Joyce and Brian as their grandparents).
The apartment is very nicely furnished, it is modern and clean and the kitchen is well equipped. The view from the windows across Loch Snizort is stunning and the garden is lovely. There is a good selection of books, games and puzzles for rainy days. It is also fairly central for many attractions on Skye and an easy drive from Portree.
Joyce and Brian made us feel very welcome and shared their knowledge about the area. If we visit Skye again -and we certainly would like to- Knotts Cottage apartment would be our first choice for accommodation.

Our stay on Skye has been perfect thanks to this apartment. The landlord are very welcoming and helpful. The flat has everything you need and is located in a central place of the island, close to all main interests.
In the evening, one can look at the sealife from the lounge ! -

Left on 09/20/2012 for a stay in July 2012
The flat was clean and had everything you would need for a holiday -including many extras, like books and board games for rainy days, and guide books/leaflets with activity ideas and local events. The couple who own the flat were wonderfully welcoming and helpful, and were quite happy to entertain my son with his questions about their garden! One night we left the car lights on by accident, and they noticed and came to alert us -a small thing, but beyond the call of duty and certainly much appreciated since we wouldn't have been going anywhere in the morning if the battery had died! The location is close to Portree and within easy access of all of the central roads for the Island, however I don't think there's much public transport there so you would need to bring your own. Best thing -the view from the flat and the comfort of it, worst thing -it's quite difficult to get to the loch edge due to fences (manageable for myself and my son, not for my mum). We've been before, and we'll definitely go again.

Had a fabulous relaxing week. The Isle of Skye is a wonderful place to get away from the busy City lives we lead. The location was good although had we not done our homework before hand we might have found it a little too quiet. The accommodation had everything we needed, proprietors were lovely, friendly and helpful and a jolly good holiday was had. If you have a dog make sure it is "Frontlined" before you go away. The ticks our dog collected were not from the apartment I hasten to add.

The appartment had everything we wished for and Joyce and her husband made us feel at home and were more than friendly.
The appartment is located in a little hamlet, but pefectly located for trips across the isle. We were fortunate to see the sun every day and therefor got to see a lot of the isle. Amazing and beautiful island. Hope to come back one day -

We have stayed here on three occasions now, each time the accommodation has been first class, nothing is too much trouble for Joyce or Brian. The apartment is warm and cosy, well equiped, with plenty to do if the weather is against you.The views from the apartment are wonderful, no matter what the weather is doing. During our time, we have seen basking shark and seals from the window across the loch, but as yet, the otters have eluded us.
The location is excellent for seeing the island. There are excellent walks to be had from the cottage, and access to all other parts of the island are good. There are a large collection of walking routes provided in the extensive 'things to do' folder provided in the apartment. -

Joyce and her husband were very friendly and welcoming, offering their own home comforts and providing lots of useful information.
The accommodation was great, really comfortable and with brilliant views across the loch.We had everything we needed and felt comfortable asking our hosts if we did find we needed anything.
The apartment was very well located. Quite close to Portree for food supplies, but far enough away to be quiet and unspoilt. There were plenty of places to visit within a reasonable distance or you could just stay at home and enjoy the views and the wildlife.
