Left on 11/20/2012 for a stay in October 2012
My partner and I left the kids behind for a week of peace and quiet in the most beautiful place I have ever visited. We were not disappointed.
Joyce and Brian were friendly, very helpful, provided us with lovely accomodation and left us alone whilst always being there to help if needed.
The apartment was perfect. A comfortable bed, a lovely bathroom, everything we needed in the kitchen. As an added bonus we were able to connect our iPod to a rather excellent dock and listen to music whilst admiring the view. We particularly enjoyed the sense of seclusion even while there were other holiday makers in the attached apartment!
The location of the apartment is excellent for exploring the North of the island. Located half way between Portree and Dunvegan makes it easy to get to a shop if you need one and there are many places of interest within 10-15 miles.
Overall lovely holiday for an unbelievably good price! -

We spent a week in apartment 1 and could not have been happier. Literally everything we could have asked for was there, and the apartment itself was light and airy whilst also cosy. The huge window gave us stunning views over the sea loch and provided prime otter watching!
Brian and Joyce were the perfect hosts, there for advice/day out suggestions and wildlife spotting tips.
We had great meals out, wonderful walking and saw a huge range of wildlife. We would strongly recommend it to anyone. -

The studio is in a beautiful, peaceful, and convenient location, with fantastic views over the loch. It was absolutely spotless and well maintained. The layout has been thoughtfully arranged to maximise the views. The information provided about the local area was invaluable, and the friendly owners were on hand to answer any questions.

An excellent place to stay. We went walking and kayaking.
The kitchen was very well equipped for a studio.
Comfy chairs for relaxing and looking at the view (we'd brought our telescope so were forever jumping up to look at more distant views).
Very welcoming hosts and a lovely garden. -

Lovely clean studio put together with comfort in mind including all modern amenities. The view from the large window was very relaxing. The location was very peaceful yet not too far from any of the attractions or walks. Joyce and Brian were very friendly and helpful. Should we ever get to Skye again (such a wonderful island, especially as the sun shone all week) we would definitely stay here.

My husband and I were traveling after a long period of hard work months, and wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of life: this was an absolute dream of a vacation, thanks much to Joyce Heggie's beautiful self-catering cottage! The space was perfect for us as a couple: a large bed, spacious kitchen and bathroom, and simply stunning views of an inlet of the loch we overlooked. While we spent much of the days touring the island and walking to gorgeous vistas, we also spent nearly every evening at the cottage, seated at the large window overlooking the loch, watching the sunset for hours. It was quite a romantic scene, and just the peaceful place we needed. We didn't hear a peep from anyone else.
This was the first time I'd been to a self-catering place that didn't have leftovers from previous guests (like old olive oil or peanut butter jars and the like) - it was so fabulous to come to such a clean place (though do bring all the food necessities you'll want to cook with, like spices).
You'll need a car to get there and get around - but it is well worth it. We have raved about it to all our friends, and will continue to do so for some time. Thank you for providing such a lovely getaway for us, Joyce! -

Absolutely, without doubt, brilliant. Everything was excellent. The studio lacked nothing, Brian and Joyce were most helpfull and allowed us to store our bikes undercover.
The weather was perfect - hot and no rain and there were very few midges!! The location at the end of the loch had views to die for. Wi-fi was most useful. There was nothing we did not like!! -

We just loved this place. We came to Skye for the first time to do some walking and this was the perfect place to be. Excellent location for touring the island, excellent accommodation, everything you need, so comfy, spacious and warm and we agree with other reviews that the shower is a welcome luxury. The views are spectacular and Brian and Joyce are on hand to help and advise if you need them. What more can I say... just loved it!

Where to start! I have never left a review on anything before but i felt compelled to because of how much i enjoyed the stay. The booking was very easy and communication with Joyce and Brian was nice and very helpful! Even let me reserve it for a day while i could confirm my own time off from work. They were happy to answer any questions i had right up until a couple of days before we arrived. They also sent some extra instructions on how to get there in case the Sat Nav led us wrong which were very easy to follow. When we got there we were told which studio we had and it looked exactly like the photos inside and out. Which after travelling extensively around the world i know is very rarely the case. It was cosy and warm with underfloor heating, the whole studio was spotless and looked it had been professionally cleaned. The bed was so comfortable it was hard to get up in the morning and the view onto the loch was stunning, it was lovely to wake up to! There was also a nice little garden area in the back to sit in during the day and at night for lunch or tea. Another thing which is handy is that knott is ideally located, it is just out of portree and so you feel wonderfully isolated but not completely out of civilisation. And if you have to you can enjoy one of the local live music pubs at night everything is a short drive away, from portree, to the cullins, to boat trips, to the old man of storr and beautiful coastal walks. Anything you might want to do has been printed out and put in folders for you to see when you get there, from interesting walks that you could go on, to places to visit to things to see and to os maps to guide you while you are out and about which was very helpful as this was out first visit to Skye. I reccommend taking a walk on the edge of the loch just off the studio as there is abundance of mussels and razor clams that we picked and cooked ourselves which was delicious.
I can't reccommend highly enough of this place and as we were leaving i asked about how busy they were next year as i plan to come back to skye and i will definately stay here. Joyce and Brian were wonderful hosts/owners who were ever so friendly to chat to and to ask for help if we needed it. It my was my girlfriend and I's first holiday together and we will not forget it. By the end of the trip we were looking at houses in knott to see if we could buy anywhere we enjoyed it that much. Thank you again and we hope to see you in 2013.
p.s. i almost forgot, it was very well priced and got more than we paid for i am sure. I have uploaded some photos so please take a look! -

The service we recieved was excellent. We were met as soon as we arrived by Joyce who showed us where everything was in the apartment and gave us information on the Loch etc.
The apartment was fantastic. Bright and airy and very well equipped. The views from the big windows out on to the Loch were simply stunning. The bed was very comfortable and the swivel chairs were a nice addition. There was an excellent power shower, perfect after a days walking.
We came for a walking holiday and the location of the apartment is very well placed to drive to all corners of Skye, if you don't mind abit of a drive to get to places. The apartment is in a remote location, which was part of the appeal for us. The nearest place to buy provisions was Portree which was not too far to drive to (about 20 minutes)
The views from the apartment were my favourite part of the holiday. I can not think of anything to find fault with.

Absolutely brilliant studio apartment. Beautifully decorated with even better views. Ideal for two people. Everything you need. Specific acknowledgement to the shower which is true definiton of 'power' shower. Joyce was extremely helpful on arrival and left us to do our own thing which was appreciated. Will definitely return at some point. Would thoroughly recommend.
The only thing I was slightly disappointed about was not seeing any dolphins but that is just bad luck. -

My wife Sue and I have stayed in studio one on two occasions. We recieved a warm welcome and the studio with its stunning view exceeded our expectations. The view out of the window down the loch is fantastic. We even saw an otter! The room is well planned and the shower was awesome, like a tsunami!Even after two visits there is still lots to see on Skye. We will return to Knott again in the near future.

High standard apartment with a.o. a very lovely shower! After a day walking (most of the time in the rain) it was great coming home, take a nice hot shower, and relax in the 2 chairs with loch views, enjoying a wee dram. Good beds, a well equipped kitchen. As we said; just great! very friendly owners, we sure will be back once!

Superb accommodation that offers fantastic views out on the Loch. The studio offered us home touches, with great attention to detail. We loved the relaxing reclining chairs used for a window outlook and excellent kitchen and bathroom facilities that have high standards of finishing. Joyce and Brian are very warm host and have a plethora of knowledge about Skye, they were only to willing to advise and guide us. We had a wonderful week on the island but were amazed to spot otters and sea eagles from our studio window! This place is a hidden gem and is excellent base to explore the island.

Thoroughly enjoyed everything about this apartment. Have holidayed in apartments, gites and cottages in all kinds of places over many years and this is in the top 5. Location brilliant, superb bakery in Portree (The Isle of Skye Baking Co). The best part of our stay at the Heggies' apartment was their compassion when I had a serious fall in the Cuillins and broke my wrist and badly sprained my ankle etc. We were even offered an extension of our stay free of charge. Sadly we were unable to take advantage of this generous offer (flight commitments and so on) but we thought it very characteristic of the Heggies' overall thoughtfulness.

We had an amazing relaxing stay, Joyce and Brian Heggie couldn't have been any more welcoming. They were able to offer excellent advice about what to do and where to eat in the local area and the folders with information in the Studio were very helpful too.
The Studio itself was spotless and had been very well though out, everything we could have ever needed was available and to top that off the view from the picture window was outstanding.
The studio is located not far from Portree but just far enough for you to enjoy the peace and quiet.
Skye was a beautiful place to visit and we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and hope to go back soon
