Smuggler's Den is a stylish first floor apartment overlooking the harbour in Isle of Whithorn. There is a double bedroom, a bathroom and an open plan living area with fitted kitchen, dining area and sitting area. Outside is off road parking for one car. The amenities of Isle of Whithorn are on the doorstep of Smuggler's Den, with opportunities for sea fishing, golf, walking and exploring the book town of Wigtown, making this a wonderful year-round couples' retreat.

    Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods.       Could do better

      Left on 04/20/2013 for a stay in April 2013

      This apartment is potentially perfect. The location is wonderful, with great views of the harbour and a fantastic pub practically next door. Easy parking on site. But there were a few things that spoiled the place, which a bit of TLC and about £50 would have solved.
      Every door in the place creaks.
      The cutlery was so cheap that all but two of the forks had broken, even though the cottage has only been available since last June (10 months). (Another one gave way while we were there.)
      Ditto the can opener.
      There was an extremely posh-looking loo roll storage unit in the bathroom but only about a third of a roll provided.
      They'd have done better to spend the money on some sort of bench, or some hooks, where you could put your clothes while you shower or bathe. As it is, you have to put everything on the floor.
      But the worst thing was that there wasn't so much as a teabag in welcome. You can't check in till 3pm, so it's a bit late to go shopping by then. There's a post office/shop in the village but the opening hours are quite creative. The next nearest shop is four miles away - back the way you just drove to get there. Given the isolation it might be nice to offer something. (Particularly since the visitors' book says somebody received a present for their dog last summer!)
      It might all sound like small things, but taken together it took the shine off an otherwise great place.
