    Additional Location Information

Near the southern point of the Isle of Wight, St Lawrence is within a world-recognised area of outstanding natural beauty and of special scientific interest. This sleepy village is steeped in history and has an old church dating back to the 13th century
Situated just 200 yards from the sea between the lower and upper coastal paths, Westgate cottage is just off the Undercliffe Drive near St Lawrence Well, one of the stops on the Pilgrims Trail
Opposite the cottage is Pelham Woods, a large woodland managed by a local charity. From here you can walk to the top coastal path, to Ventnor or Niton or to the bottom coastal path and Ventnor Botanical Gardens.
5 minutes drive from the cottage, Ventnor is a small village with a quiet esplanade and beach. You’ll find many nice shops, several takeaways, a small supermarket and several nice pubs and restaurants for the evenings.
Following the costal road from Ventnor, you’ll arrive firstly in Shanklin with its long sandy beach and arcades and then Sandown
Travelling in the other direction from the cottage, you’ll firstly reach the small village of Niton. Here you’ll find one or two nice pubs and a small supermarket. Following the coastal road from Niton, you’ll arrive at Blackgang Chine, a theme-park overlooking the Jurassic coast designed to appeal to children up-to the age of around 10. There are rides, mazes, castles, a pirate ship and many more things to keep you busy for a full day out. Carrying on the road you’ll eventually arrive at the Needles via Freshwater
Newport, the capital of the Isle of Wight is a 20 to 30 minute drive inland and you’ll find everything a large town normally has like a cinema, supermarkets, a large town centre, etc.
