Description from the owner
aslan!place is on the third floor of a grand 19th century building -with lion motifs- right next to the beautiful Galata Tower: from some windows you feel you can touch the tower. The living room overlooks the lively pedestrianised square below, while the kitchen and one bedroom have glimpses across the Golden Horn. Sishane metro station is less than 2 minutes walk away.
The bedrooms are stylish: two doubles (one is very big with lots of space for an additional folding bed) and one twin. There is a good sized, well-equipped kitchen with separate dining area and a comfortable living room with sofa and bar table overlooking the tower. Th...Read more

Haslemere, SurreyFabulous stay in Istanbul!
Left on 05/30/2013 for a stay in May 2013
We are four female friends who travel away together for an annual city break - this is our 9th year and the best so far!
Everything went like clockwork from the moment we arrived at the airport until our holiday ended when we returned to the airport. Julia and Tarkan organised our airport transfer in both directions, the drivers were very good and courteous, including someone to carry our suitcases down the 3 flights of stairs.
The apartment was very well appointed and positioned next to the Galata Tower overlooking a square. There were plenty of restaurants nearby and we experienced some wonderful Turkish food.
Istanbul has a very efficient tram transport system and it was easy to travel to different parts of the city. We are all very active and did not mind the walk back up the hill to the apartment and also the 3 flights of stairs, but this might not suit everyone!
If we needed to contact Julia and Tarkan we either phoned them or sent an email (there is free wi-fi in the apartment. We always received a very rapid response and nothing was too much trouble. We would certainly recommend their apartments! -

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the aslan apartment. It is beautifully equipped, clean, light and airy. Beds were vey comfortable and wifi worked well. The location is excellent (within 5 metres of the Galata Tower) with lots of good restaurants and bars near by. The guided introductory walk was also excellent and good value for money.

The service began at the ataturk airport where we had ordered the Shuttle bring us to the apartment. Our driver helped with the translation at avea (we bought a SIM card for our phones).
Monika met us at the apartment and was very professional and courteous. She provided us with all the information we needed to get started on our visit and went even further by helping us find a trustworthy travel agent to visit other parts of Turkey.
The apartment itself was bright, clean and wonderful view of Galata Tower and Galata Square. The tower itself is no more than 3 meters from the main window! The master bedroom has a corner view of the Golden Horn, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and so much more. The only (very minor) drawback is the 3 flights of stairs to the apartment but with out those stairs you would not have the views!
Thanks again to the wonderful group managing this property. -

We stayed here during the Istanbul marathon 2012. The location of the flat is very good! The flat was recently renovated and very clean. The living room is really nice, with windows facing the Galata Tower. It is worth noting, that the double beds have just one large duvet, i.e. no separate duvets. The two single beds have separate duvets.

We spent a weekend with my wife last weekend. Was a very nice vacation in the city center. The house had everything that we needed. The house is very spacious, beds very comfortable, very clean bed linen and towels never had a problem at all. The rooms are light can be adjusted. Close enough to touch our hands if we extend the Galata tower. I would recommend it to anyone.

This flat is a good combination of old style and modern amenities. It has everything you need for a stay in istanbul. The location of Galata is ideal , close to good restaurants, bars , modern shops, and a short walk the main shopping area, or across the bridge to the older , tourist area. The company which owns it can arrange airport transfer, and sends a rep to meet you which is good.

VermontExcellent Istanbul apartment
Left on 10/29/2012 for a stay in October 2012
A lovely, spacious apartment in a great location for touring Istanbul. The apartment is nicely appointed and very comfortable. Despite its location next to the busy Galata Tower, the apartment was quiet (unless the windows were open). The only drawback is that the apartment is on the third floor, so it may be challenging for those who have difficulty navigating stairs. The staff member who greeted us was friendly and helpful, and the owners were responsive and flexible in accommodating our schedule. All in all, we were very happy with our stay in this apartment.

Left on 09/23/2012 for a stay in September 2012
Lovely apartment, 3th floor, good view, very spacious with only three of us. Loved sitting on high table near big window having an Efes or two(off-licence below) in evening, listening to lively atmosphere in Galata square below. We walked nearly everywhere from here, but got tram and tünel funicular back one day from old town because it was hot. 10mins from Galata bridge restaurants. Shops close by. At weekend could be a little noisy for light sleepers, but we didn't mind, we didn't hear any loud music, just sound of people drinking/talking.

Austin, TexasUnbelievably Loud--Wouldn't Stay again
Left on 07/21/2012 for a stay in June 2012
This apartment is directly across from Galata Tower, which is very picturesque. To walk to the tower from the front door of the building takes only a few steps. Every night we were there, starting in the evening, a crowd including hundreds of people gathered to sing, shout, play instruments, drink, and break bottles. The noise was often not that bad around 10:00 or 11:00 PM, but by 1:00 am, the crowd noise was extremely loud, and easily penetrated the window-glazing, air-conditioning and fans provided to block noise. Around 4:00 am every morning, several municipal trucks arrived with workers who swept up the layers of broken glass that covered the square. Even at that hour, there were still groups of people drinking in the square.
It was a cute place and the people with the management company were really nice, but we'd never stay there again. If you can't sleep in your rental, no matter what else it offers, it doesn't work.Response from Julia and Tarkan - 01/06/2013
Owner
We'd like to point out to future guests that the level of noise issue below the apartment, unfortunately experienced during this visit, has now been resolved and is kept in check by the local authority. We're really sorry for the bad experience that is related here and so sad that our guests couldn't sleep well as a result. This is something we would always take every measure possible to guard against.

If you like high ceilings, stylish furniture, great beds and interiors with authentic local influences - this is the place for you. Each day we enjoyed the apartment more - the view of Galata tower, the local shopping and restaurants, the open air breeze in the evening. When it got hot - we turned on the air con ! We made breakfast in the mornings with the great grill and some small meals in the evenings when we were too tired to go out. For us, it was an ideal family apartment with great service from Tarkan and his team - one of our favourite places.

Impossible to fault the service provided by Istanbul!Place. From the pick up at the airport to local information their service was warm, professional and reliable. The apartment was perfect for our family of four. The apartment, spacious and beautifully decorated, lacked nothing that we needed. It was wonderful to be able to wander out the door of the 19th Century building into the square or up to Istiklal Cadessi. Whilst the Galata Square can be noisy in the evening it just added to the atmoshpere for us. Can't wait for our next stay.

We stayed in aslan apartment for 4nts in January 2012 & loved every minute. Perfectly situated near Galata Tower (in fact if you have 4 metre arms you could reach out of the lounge window & touch the tower!!
After having stayed in Galata/Beyoglu we realised we wouldn't actually liked to stay the other side of the bridge in Sultanahmet anyway.
Just a 20-30mins walk across Galata bridge takes you into the Spica Bazaar & Sultanahmet district, so easy to walk across into the hubub & see all the sites & then retreat back across the Bosforous to your quieter more bohemian quirky home which is Galata.
Tarkan was a great host & answered every question we had
The hardest thing of our stay was leaving the cosy centrally heated apartment to do the tourist bit but coming back was such a joy.
Stay here without hesitation & enjoy the other side of Istanbul, countless quirky cafes, bars & restaurants within a short walk of thee apartment, live like a local whilst in Istanbul -

The location was perfect - close to all the major sightseeing and nightlife if that's your thing. Very convenient for public transport. But the best thing of all was the sense of a stylish home away from home. Everything you need was provided and it just made going home as enjoyable as the rest of Istanbul. Will definitely recommend it to all our friends. Check-in and check-out was very efficient as well.

Left on 11/01/2011 for a stay in October 2011
We enjoyed 5 days in Istanbul with the family and found this the perfect place to explore the city. whilst seeing a little more of how the locals live too.
The location meant that it was always easy to find our way home, as the Galata Tower was our landmark next door, and allowed us to use the local shops and restaurants as we wished, without making expeditions far away after a long day sightseeing.
The apartment itself was light, airy and elegantly presented, without being scary to bring kids in, with interesting views and a really relaxing feel to it. Well-equipped, we ate breakfast in every day and had some comfortable early evening snacks before venturing out with recharged batteries.
Yes; there are 3 flights of stairs, but that balanced the baklava nicely!
We plan to return. -

Julia, Tarkan and their staff were very friendly and helpful. The driver, they organzided for us, had to wait more than an hour at the airport, because our flight was late.
Although we arrived late at night (12pm!), Ozzy expected the four of us in the apartement.
The apartement itself is newly renovated and decorated with a lot of taste, we liked it! From the living room you can oversee what's going on in front of the Galata tower.
Little shops, a supermarket and many restaurant are just around the corner. We even walked to the Bazar and the Hagia Sofia. But also Metro and other public transportation, like boats, buses, trains are in walking distance.
The boys (10/12) liked it, because there was more room to play, than in a hotel and they could eat breakfast "at home".
The old building is owened by different parties, so the outside and the common hall of the house is not renovated yet.
The diswasher did not work, so they offered us to send the cleaning lady to do the dishes - this was very nice.
For us, it was the perfect location to explore Istanbul.
