hendek apartment is located in an elegant 19th century building, freshly renovated, 100m away from the beautiful Galata Tower. The whole building was refurbished in late 2011.
Below the building are friendly electricians’ shops (as well as cafes, restaurants, small grocery shops and artistic boutiques a few steps away) and you will quickly feel part of neighborhood life in all its character. The street is lively in the day but the shops close in late afternoon, so nights are quiet allowing for restful sleep. The building has a private entrance and stairwell (lovely original marble) with one apartment on each floor.

We understand the importance of location and this is why our apartments are in Galata. With its genuine, very welcoming community and intriguing mix of cafes, restaurants, small grocery shops and artistic boutiques, we think it’s the most interesting part of Istanbul. No matter where you wander, you will always find your way back to Galata Tower, which has been a well-loved landmark for the last 700 years.
Metro, bus, tram and ferry stops are all only a couple of minutes’ walk away. You can be in Sultanahmet (for the big sights of Ayasofya, Topkapı, Blue Mosque etc.) in about 15 minutes by public transport or 40 minutes on foot. In the other direction, by Metro, you can be in Şişli (for Istanbul’s biggest shopping mall) in 20 minutes or Levent (for Istanbul’s business district) in 25 minutes.

We recently came to Istanbul for a conference and booked 3 of the Hendek apartments (all in the same house with identical interior). We were highly satisfied: the apartments were spacious, newly renovated, with super (!) stylish decoration and furniture and made us feel at home at once. The whole booking procedure was very professional: Tarkan and Julia were very helpful in answering our many questions upfront and one of the staff came to welcome us at the beginning of the stay and to say goodbye at the end. When we had questions inbetween, they always answered very quickly and gave helpful advice. The location near the Galata Tower is nice, with a lot of cute shops and restaurants. As the location is pretty central, you can hear sometimes hear sounds from cars or people walking during the night, but overall it was not too noisy. Would definitely come back.

we stayed at the hendek for a week with our four children. it was a great location and the apartment was very chic and clean. we were able to walk to the tram and hit all the sites easily from this location in beyoglu. the beds are a bit too firm for my liking, but i would definitely stay here again. istanbul was such an interesting place and we all had a great time exploring it. this apartment made our vacation there even better!

Our first trip to Turkey and we decided to look for something special for ourselves and our daughter who was joining us with her partner from London. As owners of guest houses in South africa we understand what is required to keep up the very high level of inventory that we found in this apartment. A surprise business meeting was responsible for our return to Istanbul at the end of our countrywide tour of Turkey. Another of Tarkan and Julia's apartments was available and just as well appointed. If one wanted a cooking pot or Elastoplast it was where one would expect to find it. Beds, bathrooms and general comfort just perfect. Thanks for enhancing the enjoyment of Istanbul for us and with signs of business from that quarter picking up I am sure we will be back. Regards Philip & Lisa

We rented 3 flats in Galata and we had a beautiful stay. The flats are ideally located and in perfect conditions/ Very clean. They are exactly as the pictures on the website. The "stay Istanbul" team is really good and helped us to book airport transfers and other taxis during the weekend. Everything went smoothly and all the drivers were on time. I would highly recommend this place for a few days in Istanbul.

Stayed for 5 nights in april and cannot rate this apartment highly enough. Location is fantastic with Galata's trendy shopping and dining at you doorstep and a pleasant 15 minute walk to Sultanahmet. The apartment was beautifully furnished, spacious and very homely with all the amenities you could want. Upon arrival, I was met by at the apartment by a lovely woman as Fuat was otherwise engaged but I had the pleasure of running into him later at the apartment building and he even left a small farewell gift on our doorstep! I stayed a few nights in the apartment on my own and felt very safe walking around the area after dark and the apartment is very secure with keypad entry into the building. Whilst the spiral staircase is stunning, the climb to this forth floor apartment may not suit everyone.
I hope to one day stay here again! Faultless, thank you!

Myself, my brother and nephew stayed for three nights. Booking process was easy. Fuat met us on arrival and was most accommodating. Airport transfer went well, though next time would catch Havatas shuttle to Taksim Square for 10 lira (now that I know!).
The apartment had a great feel and delivered what it promised to. Would recommend this place to friends. -

We have just returned from a great long weekend in Istanbul and I cannot recommend this apartment enough. Having been slightly concerned we were the 'wrong' side of the Galata Bridge, the location of the apartment is perfect. 5 minutes walk from the bridge and 5 minutes from the main centre of the new town, everything worked out so well. Check in was very easy, the apartment easily fitted the 4 of us and was very clean and well stocked.

I stayed at this apartment april 26, 2013 for 6 nights with 2 other family members. Loved the apartment, very bright and clean. The RT transfer service from the airport went without a hitch. Fuat met us upon arrival and was also available during the week by phone. This made our visit so much more enjoyable than staying in a hotel especially for 3 ppl.

This is a huge apartment in a great location. It is a few hundred metres from Galata Tower and close to the great restaurants and bars of Beyoglu. The apartment was extremely clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The hosts were extremely friendly and flexible about the arrival/departure times - Fuat even messaged us when the weather turned cold to make sure we knew how to use the heating. I would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay in Istanbul. Have also stayed at Petraki Place which is equally as good.

Perfectly renovated flat only 5 minutes away from Galata Tower and
Metro Station Sishane or 20 minutes to the Bazar. Well equipped modern kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. Everything was clean,
the beds were spotless and comfortable. Fuat was friendly and very helpful.
Our children (21 and 14) also liked the area and closeness to the pedestrian
street very much. There was nothing to complain about.

We (four girlfriends) stayed three nights in this aparmtment. It is a really nice place, nothing is missing. Dishwasher, washing machine, thermometer, plaster - everything is there.
The apartment is furnished with care. The owners are very nice and responded quickly with any questions.
Superb was the transfer from the airport and back which we've booked trough the owner. The driver was right on time.
The view from the apartment is gorgeous. It is located next to the Galata tower which is within sight. So you are right in the middle of Istanbul - what more could you want?
This apartment is highly recommended to anyone who wants intensely immersed in Istanbul. -

The location was perfect and we loved being able to walk everywhere, especially the Spice Market pastry shop and the Lavazza coffee shop. We could always find the direction home because we were only one block from the Galata Tower and that is visible from everywhere.

In sette, (tre adulti e quattro ragazzi) abbiamo passato la settimana di capodanno a istanbul, alloggiando in due appartamenti Hendek nello stesso immobile. Gli appartamenti sono esattamentee come appaiono nelle fotografie pubblicate sul sito: confortevoli, decorati con grande gusto e perfettamente attrezzati. Tra le caratteristiche positive, c'e' il secondo wc, oltre quello della vasta sala da bagno, che rende piu' facile la cconvivenza e le operazioni di avvio della giornata. La situazione e' ideale, a due passi dalla Torre di Galata e dalla sua piazzetta piena di caffe', e a tre passi dalla funicolare che scende verso il ponte di Galata e dalla metro che sale invece verso la piazza Taksim e la citta' ''moderna''. L'accoglienza e la disponibilita' dei proprietari e' stata perfetta, compresa la gentilezza di averci riservato, come avevamo chiesto, l'appartamento del primo piano per il gruppo dei piu' anziani, visto che l'immobile non ha ascensore (ma la scala e' francamente molto comoda). a pochi metri dagli appartamenti c'e' un supermercato molto fornito, e sulla piazza di Galata un chiosco praticamente sempre aperto fornisce tutti i generi di prima necessita'. Puntualissimo e molto efficace anche il servizio di navetta da e per l'aeroporto (che viene proposto a parte con un modico supplemento).

Very nice apartment in a wonderful part of the City of Istanbul. The apartment was perfect for three people (one couple and our daughter). The beds were comfortable and the comforters were warm and nice. In addition, there was a nice living room with two couches and a small dining table for 4. Very nice.
The kitchen was well-appointed with all we needed to prepare simple breakfasts and meals (though the neighborhood is teeming with restaurants, and you'll likely eat out a lot).
Be advised that this space rewards those who like to stay in shape, as you have to walk up the hill to reach Galata Tower area and then there are four flights of stairs up to the apartment. We rose to the occasion and enjoyed the exercise, but if you're not in great health, you might choose another place with an elevator. -

Four adults stayed for a week in Nov, 2012. Overall, apt was clean and comfortable. Kitchen well equipped; white marble bathroom was pleasant to enter and shower water pressure was good. Great location, literally 2 blocks from Galata Tower; grocery store, veggie/fruit stand, bakery, eateries around the corner. Kind landlord, whose business also provides transportation to/from airport--a little bit more expensive compared to local cabs, but worth saving the hassle of dealing w/cab drivers who may not be familiar w/ the exact address.

We rented the 4th floor (no lift!) apartment on Hendek last week for a week. The apartment has a good kitchen, 2 bedrooms and a lounge which can also function as a third double bedroom - we had 5 adults and a child and found it was absolutely fine for our needs and probably very spacious by Istanbul standards.
The apartment building is approximately 100 years old but freshly renovated to a high standard. The beds are very comfortable, there is a view of the mosques from the master bedroom. If you aren't super fit, then the climb up the stairs to the fourth floor, especially with heavy luggage, is like having a built in gym session every day of your holiday! We were offered the opportunity to move to a lower floor but stayed put to enjoy the view. Lower floors probably have no views and would be darker (on one side the view is directly over a large car park).
It's a perfect location a few steps from Galata Tower. Having seen most of the major tourist attractions in Istanbul, we found this location to be a great base for exploring - more so than if we had stayed in the old city which we thought was just a bit too busy and touristy by comparison. Indeed when we go back to Istanbul, I can't think of a better area to stay in.
Fuat was fantastic in providing us with assistance during our stay - everything from helping out with luggage to suggestions on things to do and booking transfers.
Staying in Galata means getting lots of taxis which we found to be the most cost effective way of getting around - so long as you can convince the driver to put the meter on before you start your journey. This may mean having to approach several drivers before finding one who isn't set on price gouging a tourist - so pack your haggling skills!
Finally, nowhere in Istanbul is without very loud calls to prayer from the mosques at an early hour (~5am) - after a few days we managed to sleep through it.

This is really a good option to enjoy Istanbul through the prism of a resident and in comfort. We were very happy with the apartment and many thanks to Fuat for the flexibility when we arrived late and for letting us keep out bags in the apartment late on the last day. The apartment is ideal for 4 people. It it only a couple of minutes walk from Galata Tower, which is a great area and a nice part of Istanbul experience. The Galata Tower was partially visible from the kitchen window. It is roughly a 10 minute downhill walk to the train station at Galata Bridge. Coming home, it is best to ride the furnicular to avoid the uphill walk.
The features and fixtures of the apartment were clean and modern and the apartment had a great feel to it. One thing to bear in mind is that it is quite noisy durng the day as this is a retail/cafe area. The sofa bed in the lounge was a little uncomfortable for our 5th adult, but if you are only housing 4 in the apartment, it would be perfect. The two toilets was an excellent feature!
The host was excellent and professional to deal with. This location is really at a mid point between both of iStanbul's airports if you are getting a tax service. -

We stayed 4 nights in this beautiful apartment in oct 2012. The situation is great, next to sishane tube, galata tower on doorstep, easy public transport to sultahmet and the asian side attractions.
The flat has been decorated very stylishly, but with great sensitivity to the old building. The walls are stripped back natural brick, the ceilings are impossibly high with the undulating natural arches of the ceiling intact, and then there are funky coloured glass panels high in the connecting walls, bringing in modern style. It has everything you need for a comfy stay in the kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms.
The team were so kind to us, before we went, while we were there, even stopping by to say goodbye and make sure we didnt need help leaving and going to airport. Tarkan who we booked it with was consistently helpful, answering questions, always responding quickly, going the extra mile, and Fuat who met us there was fantastic. Lovely to meet genuinely helpful and kind people.
The best thing, the fact you could be so comfortable and homely in a busy city.

our apartment was wonderful, an old and very well renovated house, with 2 new toilets, with all the comforts and fast internetconnection. The location is very central, I think in the best neighborhood of Istanbul, at night incredibly alive, but the apartment is in a quiet street. Everybody was very nice and helpful, the driver of the airportservice and the representant Fuat. We enjoyed our stay very much, we will recommend it to all our friends and we will definitively go back to Tarkan and Julia!!

What a wonderful welcome when you walk into your vacation rental and it exceeds all your expectations! Historic ambiance, modern conveniences and very well maintained - this lovely two bedroom apartment really enhanced our stay in Istanbul. The views from the kitchen and larger bedroom, especially at night, were another nice surprise. We also enjoyed the location of the apartment and the proximity to Galata Tower. I can also highly recommend the 'Orientation Walking Tour' arranged by Tarkan and Julia (owners/managers). I would happily return to Hendek apartment, even though the climb to the 4th floor took a bit of getting used to. The luggage service at the beginning and end of our stay was much appreciated.

Our stay in the trendy, very well equipped apartment was wonderful! Thank you for the excellent service, from the booking of the apartment, the shuttle service that was waiting for us at the airport, the friendly reception and the perfect accommodation. We loved that the apartment was centrally located, a quick five minute walk away from Istiklal Caddesi. The apartment is lovely, beautifully renovated with an attention to detail. All the amenities that one could hope for: TV, internet connection, washing machine and even a dish washing machine! Thank you, thank you we can't wait to visit again!

The Hendek apartment is good value for your Money. The recent renovation was done well. Everything worked well. The bathroom is spacious although badly needs a shower door as the current set up, though modern and stylish, causes a fair amount of water to spray on the floor. The washing machine works well. The kitchen is fairly spacious and sunny. There is a four burner cook top but no oven which is not necessary for a short term rental. The only issue for our stay was that there is no a/C. The three fans provided however are strong and silent. Still without a/C it got uncomfortable. Please note that this apartment is in a lively neighborhood with lots of traffic from the many electrical supply stores that are the hallmark of this street and revel ears at night, i.e. it can get a bit loud at night as you will need to keep the windows open for a draft. The apartment is on the third floor up a winding, steep staircase which is a real challenge for older folks and people with physical disabilities. We really liked that there was a separate toilet and a storage area for suitcases as well as sufficient drawers and hangers for clothing on racks. The wood floor is expertly renovated and varnished. Wireless Internet worked well although there was a service outage on the first day which was quickly repaired.

We were hoping that the (good quality) fans would be enough to make a high summer stay comfortable -this is the first summer since the renovation- as we prefer to avoid a/c for environmental reasons and also not to damage to the 19th Century building unnecessarily. However, we've now accepted that air-conditioning in this case will improve comfort over these few weeks and so we intend to install it in time for next summer.

We were a group of four friends who stayed in the apartment for four nights. The place is beautifully decorated throughout, and well-equipped with a small kitchen, and towels, hairdryer, etc. in the bathroom. Wireless was available for free throughout. The location was excellent, just two minutes' walk from Galata Tower and the main shopping street. The manager was extremely friendly and helpful.
The only down-side was that the second bedroom had a double bed, which would have been fine for a couple but was a little cramped for us.
Otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend stay!istanbul apartments. -

My family and I stayed here for 6 nights in early May. The apartment itself if very nicely decorated with all amenities like fridge freezer, dishwasher etc.
There were 2 bedrooms, one double and a twin. There was also 1.5 baths which is good with 4 people staying.
While the apartment is marketed as being close to Sishane metro, you'll find it's not the one you need. Most if the sightseeing/ shopping/ activities are across the river in Sultanhamet, so you'll actually need the Karakoy metro, but it's only a 5 min downhill walk to this metro station. Be prepared to do a lot of uphill walking, Istanbul is very hilly.
Pros and cons of the apartment

Cons:
1. It's in the 4th floor and there wasn't a lift, which was a bit of a problem for my parents.
2. There is quite a bit of noise from the street at night, people shouting quite loudly as they walked past 4 stories below.
All said, I really enjoyed my trip and would go back and stay at the Hendek apartment again. -

Nice, quiet location in a very centre of Istanbul. Luxury equipped, large flat on 3rd floor, unfortunately no lift available. Person in charge can arrange a taxi for you and will help you with everything,

Stijlvol appartement in leuke buurt. We waren er met 2 volwassenen en 4 kinderen. Erg aardige verhuurder. Lopend of met de tram ben je zo bij de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden.

The apartment is well equipped and perfectly located.
Renovated, it is suitable for 4 to 6 people.
The reception is perfect and the check in and check out are very easy with confidence.
It is even possible to get up at the airport!
I recommend this rental to anyone who wants to visit Istanbul, the modern and ancient. -

a spotlessly clean, very tastefully renovated, and spacious apartment (Hendek), very close to Galata tower and surrounded by lovely bars, restaurants and small shops. A charming area and really convenient location, Tunel entrance and Istiklal a few metres away. The apartment was furnished with a keen eye for detail with regard to both aesthetics and convenience. Kitchen adequately equipped. The whole apartment was spotlessly clean, as was the linen! Airport pick-up excellent. Tarkan, Julia, and Fuat were extremely helpful, kind and friendly. Communication was fantastic: all questions via email promptly answered. A lovely, lovely, stay, thank you! Look forward to staying at one of your apartments again soon. -

Couldn't fault the service they arranged airport pickup and drop off, and briefing on the apartment and surrounding area. They answered our questions and were available for advice and instructions on how to operate the heating.
Newly renovated in a character building that has been sympathetically decorated and furnished. We didn't cook in the apartment as there are numerous restaurants, bars and bakeries within easy walking distance but the kitchen seemed to be well set up.
Brilliant location just around the corner from the Galata Tower, easy walking distance of Istiklal Street and the New Mosque is just a twenty minute walk away over the Galata Bridge.
The location was the best feature. The beds were a little hard for our liking. The three flight of stairs may not be workable for everybody but it didn't worry us and we are nudging sixty!! -

I know our son wrote to you...but as his parents we want to congratulate you on the simplicity and beauty of your apartment...we just loved going back to it after a full day in your beautiful city..Galata is a great location...we walked happily across the bridge to the Mosques...the ambiance day and night was a revelation.we just had a great time and would certainly come back...
one thing for us was missing...a microwave oven...as there is no oven...it would have been a bonus for our party of 5 to be able to cook or warm up simple food...also it wasn't clear where and how you recycle glass and plastic ...as we do all the time in France and ireland where we come from...thank you for your hospitality..

We arrived on a Wednesday night and were greeted by the nicest host (Fuat), who explained how the hot water and heating worked, and was also very kind to give us recommendations for food for that night and the following days.
The apartment is exactly as it is described on the site (a very good renovation with character), that felt very safe and quiet (we actually felt very safe anywhere we went in Istanbul), and had enough comfortable space for 4-6 people (and up to 7 people if they get along). We were gladly surprised by the amount of useful appliances in the kitchen and the comfortable beds (...quality of the linens and towels).
Located in a very popular area, just ~100 metres from the Galata tower (very handy landmark to give directions to taxi drivers), and 5 mins walk to the Istiklal avenue (very good spots for food/drink off the main street), it really has the best restaurants and bars (with and without views) close by (i.e., walking distance).
Around the apartment there were also two main supermarkets (Migros + Spar, I think), and a couple of fruit stalls were you could get your morning juices (grapefruit was an eye opener, very tasty). Coffee was more of a challenge (although we did have a French press in the apartment), but we managed to get good/strong ones on the second day from a place around the tower and on the way to the tram.
Liked best - the actual apartment, and the fact that it was close to night life, but in a quiet street
Liked least - cannot think of anything

our 5 days in this apartment was just perfect.
the area where is the apartement is absolutely stratecig for every important places and the apartment is just lovely, confortable with all facilities and very dity and clean:))
the honers are very very gentle and available and help us a lot also for the matteo's eye glasses then he lost at the airport during the way.
