Stablesgate is so named as the area used to be the stables of the Topkapi Palace. Apart from the rare advantage of having so much private space, one of the main attractions is the setting.

My family and I stayed at Stablesgate House No. 5 from 24 to 30-Jun-2012. It was a great stay and we were very comfortable in the house with all its amenities. The house is located right in the middle of the local housing area so you get to see and feel how the local lives. There are small local minimarts and fruits shop nearby so if you don't feel like going to armada hotel which is like 5-minutes away, for your breakfast (good spread), you can just get your bread, butter, cheese and other foodstuff from these shops. Also, from Stablesgate, we could walk to Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Topkapi Palace... pleasant walk as you can see alot of small local shops with interesting buys and there are many small restaurants/cafes along the way you will be spoiled for choice.
The only setback of Stablesgate House is you have to take the stairs to the kitchen, bedrooms, terrace, so its not for people who have knee/leg problems. The terrace is worth the climb as you can view the Marmara Sea. There were times when we could spot dolphins in the sea.
Special thanks goes out to Berk at reception. We encountered 2-nights of power outage and Berk without any hesitation assured us and made us comfortable by providing us with rooms at the hotel itself as our house was in total darkness.
