AberdeenGreat base for exploring Istanbul
Left on 05/12/2013 for a stay in April 2013
This is a great base for exploring Istanbul as it is close to the tram line. Lots to do in the immediate vicinity too - shops, restaurants, museums etc. The flat was very comfortable and extremely clean. Air conditioning and heating worked well (we needed both as the weather was mixed!)The only down side is that there are restaurants immediately outside the living room so it can be noisy. It didn't bother us - in fact some of the live music was really good. Aydin was a great host and we appreciated his tour when we arrived as the area is a bit of a rabbit warren. You must try the freshly baked simits for breakfast along with freshly squeezed orange or pomegranate juice - wonderful!

Left on 11/29/2012 for a stay in November 2012
My sister and I stayed here in November and would rate this apartment to anyone. Previously we had stayed in the 3 bedroom apartment owned by the same family.
Both apartments were nice and in a great location. The family are extremely friendly and helpful. The service and location was excellent.
Highly recommend these apartments to anyone wanting to visit this area. -

We were a small family My husband,I and my two daughters .we rent this apartment in august 2012 ,and it was an wonderful place with the best owners ever seen.at our arrival aydin the owner was waiting us at a very late time 2am but with unforgettable greeting.the apartment was exactly as the pictures show ,very clean and well equipped .the surrounding area was too inserting because all was nearly to the flat especially to the magic Istiklal's street .honestly we enjoyed our stay there with the great aid that aydin and his sweet wife had given to us .We recommend this flat to all people from the oldest to the youngest one, be sure that you will fall in love for this Tremendous country without forgetting its kind and generous people. Thanks again to aydin and Evrim ...see you next summer!

Left on 10/07/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We had a wonderful holiday, helped by this perfect location in Istanbul - a vibrant and interesting area, full of small shops and cafes. Nothing was too much for aydin and Evrin to do to help us - we loved the hand drawn map. Aydin even drove us to the port on our last morning; the rain making taxis unavailable. The flat gave us all we needed, with a beautiful main bedroom with balcony, and appealing decor throughout. Having a sitting room and dining room worked really well - a luxury! As two couples we would have liked a larger second bedroom - and the bathroom was the smallest I've seen! Friday and Saturday night music from the restaurants was very loud - but earplugs sort it!

Aydin and Evrim, the landlords, have given the flat a characterful feel which made it a happy place to stay. Most of all they were very generous to us, from their welcome to aydin's introductory tour of Beyoglou, his good conversation and his advice. They made us feel comfortable in Istanbul and our holiday, such a pleasure.

AustraliaWinderful Istanbul Experience
Left on 07/21/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Anyone looking for a wonderful Istanbul experience, this is the place for you. Aydin and Evrim are truly fantastic hosts. Communication with aydin was excellent and everything that was promised was delivered. We rented apartment 4 for one week and 3 of us shared the apartment (one couple and one single). Aydin's 'Welcome to Istanbul' tour in which he walked us around the local vicinity was extremely useful and introduced us to the best places to shop and eat (and there is plenty of that!) and really set us up for the week to come. The apartment was perfect for us. Extremely homely, clean, comfortable and had everything we wanted. The kitchen and bathroom are compact, but perfectly adequate and embellish the real Turkish experience. The location simply could not be better. In the heart of Beyoglu and within walking distance of absolutely everything; taxi, bus, train, tram, ferry, Istiklal Street - you could not get better. Everything is local. There is a most wonderful bakery just down the street, a grocery store right across the road and a restaurant on the roof of the apartment with a view to die for. Our only regret is that we only had one week. We could have easily and happily stayed here for a month! We were very sad to leave Istanbul. It is one of the best cities in the world in our opinion. We will certainly return to Istanbul in the future and would definitely stay here again without any doubt.

LondonVery warm and nice apartment at a great location!
Left on 07/01/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We were 3 people staying in this very nice apartment for almost a week and really enjoyed our stay! The biggest plus of the apartment is the location which is just brilliant to reach anything you like, get to one of the best bars and restaurants in Istanbul and optimize logistically your stay. Secondly, the hosts were just great, very warm and helpful, gave us great directions where to find what in the area and in the city itself. This really nice family was also a huge help when one of our friends felt sick and had to go to hospital, our hosts arranged everything for that, offered our friend tea, food, etc..and all of that in the middle of the night. The apartment is very big and can easily host 3-4 people, there is a lot of space. I have to say the area is a bit noisy as there is music coming out from all the bars and restaurants on the street, but it was not a problem for us as we mainly enjoyed going out and exploring the city. All in all, we can only recommend this apartment and this host family! Thank you for your hospitality and care!

We stayed 3 nights in mid-April (group of 3 adults) and enjoyed our stay. We were very satisfied with the location of the apartment: all major sites are within walking distance, plenty of restaurants and other services around, tram stops nearby. Evrim and aydin were extremely helpful and kind. The apartment was unique with old furniture. In our aprtment the bathroom was small and modest but as a whole it was a very good choice. Looking forward to go back with my family!

I recommend you this accommodation in case that you want to be on the spot. There are many restaurants, pubs and clubs in surroundings. To main attractions (mosques, bazaars) you can walk or go by metro. Accommodation is clean, large and with many rooms. Owners were very pleasant and prepare for us map of surroundings, so we knew where the exchange, post..is. They always responded our questions. We spend there a week in four people and were absolutely satisfied. I would only not recommend the flat to families with small babies, because the bars and restaurant are very noisy till midnight. We had the pleasure of staying in this flat on our recent trip to Istanbul. Evrim and aydin, the owners of the apartment, were very helpful and charming. It is located in a great area full of nightlife and very convenient to transportation. The flat has a nice dining room and living room, perfect for lounging after a long day of sightseeing. We definitely will stay here when we visit Istanbul again one day. Thank you E and a for your hospitality!

Left on 04/11/2012 for a stay in April 2012
We spent 7 nights in this apartment the first week of april 2012. It was myself, my husband, our 2 daughters (10 and 7) and my brother, who flew in from the States. First, Evrim and aydin, the owners, were so kind and helpful. The first day there Evrim walked us around the neighborhood and gave us a great map she had made of good places to go for anything we might need. We didn't see her much the rest of the week, but I know if we had needed anything we would have been helped. The location of the apartment is fabulous. You are tucked in between Istiklal Street and the major street to catch the tram. It's well suited for tourists but you also get an authentic neighborhood to go with it. The apartment itself is clean, updated, and cozy...just the right amount of space for a small family. Our oldest slept on the sofa in the living room, which she loved! Everything was clean and updated and made for a great home away from home. I will say if you have any issues with walking up stairs, this might not be the place for you. There are 3-4 flights to take depending on the entrance you use. But having said that, if you have any issues with stairs, hills, walking, etc...Istanbul may not be the city for you. All in all, this place was wonderful. We'd stay here agin in a heartbeat...or any other property owned by this couple!!

A wonderful flat - quaint and cozy, with the most welcoming hosts you could ask for! Everything was clean and well-maintained, the location was close-in for seeing the sights, and Evrim and aydin were helpful and gracious - answering questions, showing us around the neighborhood and helping us get to the apartment. We even enjoyed the loud music! A perfect arrangement from which to see the beautiful city of Istanbul.

Aydin and Evrim were absolutely the most accommodating people I have ever met in traveling. Aydin spent at least one hour showing us the area and provided us with a detailed map. We were also given great recommendations of things to see in the area and places to dine. The location is great - near Taksim Square. Therefore, the walk to many restaurants and shopping is only minutes away. It was also a very easy walk to the metro.

Left on 01/25/2012 for a stay in January 2012
My friend and I rented this flat for NYE 2012 and had a wonderful time during our visit. Aydin was very accommodating, making himself available for any question we could think of throughout our stay and taking the time to show us around the neighborhood on our first day in the city.
The location is absolutely wonderful, a short walk from a plethora of bars, restaurants, and shopping. We had all the amenities needed for adventuring tourists and plenty of space to spread out and relax after a long day of sightseeing. The old city is only about a half-hour walk with many sights along the way. We will definitely stay in this flat again if we get another chance to visit Istanbul, and I've already recommended the flat to a friend.
Thank you for your hospitality, Aydin! -

We stayed at this apartment for two weeks and had an absolutely wonderful time. Aydin and Evrim were extremely accommodating to all of our needs and made our stay in Istanbul the experience of a lifetime. We stayed with our two children, ages 10 and 6, and there was ample space for all of us to live comfortably. The apartment had every amenity we could desire.
The apartment is located on a very charming street filled with restaurants and live music. From the apartment, it's a five minute walk to the world famous Istikal Street, where every type of shopping and restaurant is available. It's also a short walk to the tram which takes you to all of the historic sites in the Sultanahmet area.
We would absolutely stay here again and have already recommended the place to family and friends. Our only regret is that we had to leave!! -

Left on 08/22/2011 for a stay in August 2011
We had a fantastic time staying in this apartment for five days. The other reviews accurately summarise the appeal of this property; great location, lots of space, comfortable beds, attentive and caring hosts, unbelievable view from the rooftep restaurant on the top floor (great for a drink or meal). Downsides are few in comparison, but are worth mentioning in the interests of balance: noisy neighbourhood which could disturb a few light sleepers, but only at weekends, and small, awkward to use bathroom. Would not stay anywhere else in Istanbul, judged by our experience.

Left on 07/11/2011 for a stay in May 2011
Aydin and Evrim are gracious attentive hosts. Due to missed connections we arrived separately in the evening and aydin waited for each of us at the office to ensure access to the apartment. They are happy to help with advice and directions. The apartment was very clean and spacious. The bathroom was tiny and may not be for everyone. We did not use the kitchen. Great location just off Istiklal Cad. You have lots of shopping and restaurants within walking distance. You are steps from the action in Beyoglu. You can also walk to historic old Istanbul in about 25 minutes. You are close to the tram as well if you are not a big walker. Beware of the restaurants on Cezayir street (with the exception of the one on the roof of the building the apartment is in which is recommended by aydin). They will use aydin's name to try to lure you in with the promise of a discount. The food is mediocre and overpriced. Sit outside and have a drink but go elsewhere to eat. There are many good restaurants in this area. Overall I highly recommend this apartment and will stay here again when in Istanbul.

Left on 04/27/2011 for a stay in April 2011
The Flat was comfortable and tastefully decorated in keeping with the age of the building. The small wet room/WC took a bit of getting use too but was fine. Aydin made us feel very welcome and the brief tour of the local area on arrival was much appreciated and made all the difference in settling us in. The only real down side was the flat was a bit noisy at times but that said the great location easily made up for this.

Helsinki, FinlandGreat apartment on the hip Cezayir Street in Istanbul...
Left on 03/03/2011 for a stay in February 2011
This apartment was lovely, a great value and very comfortable. It was very clean and the beds were nice. For a family of five, it was great to have the kitchen, living room and dining room space. The only problem with the apartment is the bathroom which, though new and clean, has the shower right next to the toilet with no divisions, so there is no way to avoid getting the floor wet (and sometimes everything else in the bathroom). Otherwise, the apartment was perfect for our stay.
Evrin and aydin are more friendly hosts than managers, and we felt as if we had known them before. They even went out of their way to buy some breakfast items for us when we told them we were arriving late at night with children. The apartment also did not have a coffee pot and aydin brought one for us the next day when we said that we could not survive Istanbul without our morning coffee! As the other revieweres have mentioned, the street is a bit noisy, especially Thursday to Saturday but the music is actually quite nice and it didn´t bother us. The best thing to do is to go out and enjoy the atmosphere on the street, but it is definitely not a place for anyone who needs absolute silence. One of our best meals was in the lovely restaurant on the last floor of the building, with a great view, live music and excellent food, who could ask for more? They even gave us a discount because we were Evrin and aydin´s guests.
We really hope we can return to Istanbul, and we would love to stay in Evrin and aydin´s apartment again! -

Left on 12/10/2010 for a stay in June 2010
My girlfriend and myself stayed here for a week whilst we soaked in the sights of Istanbul.
The Good:
Aydin and his wife were extremely welcoming. The apartment was clean and spacious and set in a lovely location.
There is a convenience store close by as well as a tram stop to take you too all the sites.
The not so good:
The apartment is in an area where there are many bars. Aydin and Evrim were completely upfront when we booked the apartment about the noise from them. During the week the noise would generally stop around 10pm and if we closed all the doors we couldn't hear them however at the weekend the noise level increase significantly and on Saturday went on until 4am.
Don't let the noise put you off though. This apartment is a great place to stay.

This is a bright and spacious apartment in a busy location in Istanbul. Aydin and his wife were fabulous hosts. When we arrived, we got a tour of the neighbourhood to help us orient ourselves. The next morning, Aydin even took me to the grocery store to make sure I found it. There is wi-fi in the apartment and, in the planning stages, we found aydin very prompt and responsive when we communicated with him by email. As a heads up, there are a lot of restaurants in the area so that means it is a festive feeling neighbourhood and reasonably safe for walking even later in the evening, but you can hear music from the nearby restaurants in the apartment.

Fantastic location, comfortable appartment, and friendly service. True, it is a tad noisy in the evenings, but the music stops at a reasonable time (12pm ish) and then it is amazingly quiet.
The main bedroom is lovely, with a balcony to enjoy the evening sun, Shame the smaller room is a bit pokey in comparison.
A very good place to stay, and I would deifnately go back.Response from Evrim and Aydin Balcik - 11/30/2010

Thank you very much for this kind review. Just a quick respond about the small bedroom. We are working on it. We've just made some changes for good, also we will make small renovation in the flat to make it much more comfortable in a couple of weeks. Also we will change the photos of the flat soon, because we need to show the new decoration.

Left on 11/29/2010 for a stay in September 2010
I contacted aydin through e-mail for accommodation for our family reunion in Istanbul but had no clue about the person or the quality of his apartment. From the initial e-mail exchange, I found him accommodating and very cooperative. However, the real treat was when I got to Istanbul. Earlier, he had offered to pick me up (this might change per his schedule) and this was a real convenience to me arriving at foreign place.
The apartment was clean, spacious and well maintained on an upper floor of a building that its lower floor was an outdoor restaurant; furthermore, the lower floor restaurant was surrounded by rows of other outdoor restaurant that gave the feeling of one long and lively outdoor restaurant with live music every night. We felt attending a long lively party during our vacation without taking a step. In addition, there is a lovely restaurant on the roof of the same building (open terrace), which offered extreme convenience at dinner times with excellent view of the city. This specific set up gives the apartment much more buzz factor than it is advertised for. The young couple that own the apartment, Aydin and Evrim are real Gems. They always smile, and are helpful and accommodative. This is valuable comfort factor when you are thousands of miles away from home. They helped us with everything, from tram directions to washing our laundry. The apartment is also close to most everything, such as center of Istiklal avenue, ferry in Eminonu (also spice Bazaar), Sultan ahmet or Blue Mosque. Because of lively entertainments in the restaurants downstairs, this place may not be suitable for couples with infants or your children. In this place you don't just rent an apartment, you are treated like a guest. Highly recommend this place.

LondonBest flat run by the best couple in the best part of Istanbul
Left on 11/25/2010 for a stay in October 2010
This property is owned by the nicest most hospitable couple. My partner and I arrived in instanbul separately of eachother and in the middle of the night. We were Both greeted by the owner and showed around the property and given the keys to get a good nights rest.
The following day we woke at our own leisure and the owner made himself available to show us around the local area, point out good eateries, clubs, markets, transport links and anything else we were interested in!
The flat itself was lovely! High ceilings and spacious with beautiful antique furniture. Linen was fresh and clean. The bathroom and kitchen were modern and well equipt. The main bedroom has a lovely small balcony with views.
The kitchen comes with pots, pans and all the usual things you would expect in a well put together flat. The hot water was constant and central heating was available if the weather got seriously nippy at night. The flat is nestled in a wonderful vibrant private block with bars cafes and restaurants directly below. The bedrooms however face away from the hustle and bustle thereby guaranteeing a restful night away from the noise of any party-goers!
It's a two minute walk away from the closest tram stop and about ten minutes from the closest metro station.
I really do not believe we could have stayed in a better place. The mixture of the host, flat and location, we had a really excellent experience in instanbul,

Left on 11/21/2010 for a stay in September 2010
Situated on a lovely, picturesque Istanbul street, almost in the heart of the noisy and lively part of the Istanbul, 5 minutes away from Istiklal street, probably the most crowded street in Istanbul where you can find shops from Nike to Berska, from Starbucks to the local coffee shops (that I strongly recommend) and 15 min (walk) from Galata Bridge, this place is the perfect place to start your Istanbul exploration!
And don`t worry if you don`t know a thing about Istanbul! Aydin and Evrim are the perfect hosts, always so eager to help you with information about transportation, locations and anything that you could desire to find.
And in the evening, after day of wondering on the streets you can spend a lovely evening drinking a glass of local vine and enjoying the sounds and the live music just below your window.
I recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to discover the unique colors and music of Istanbul!

We spent one week in this flat. The owners are really helpful and kind. The flat is spacious, clean and nice to live in.
The location is perfect as well.
The only things are actually the second bedroom, which is really made for children and not for adults, and the noise from outside every evening, from 8pm to midnight, which means you have no chance to relax inside the flat.
Meanwhile, as it is for holidays, it is still a good place to be. But probably ideal for youth, not for senior. -

You will feel at home in an instant because of the hosts. They are very nice people who welcome you into this old and comfortable place. My favorite room is the big bedroom because it has a special light coming from the windows. The flat has everything you might need and it's a pretty cheap accomodation.
