Premises

We provide our guests with a little bit of home. Let yourself be awakened by the morning sun’s warm rays. If you do not feel like exploring the area at first, make yourself at home and enjoy a good book with beautiful music. Or relax in the garden after an adventurous hike. In the kitchen one can indulge in the culinary arts – or if you don’t want to try that, just make a coffee there. If you still want to know what’s happening in the rest of the world, lounge in the living room, choosing from more than 20 TV programs on the flat-screen television.

Furnishings:

Although most of our guests enjoy the generosity of our apartment just for two, it can accommodate up to four people. A king size bed, a single bed and a sofa bed for two are available. The bathroom offers bathtub with shower and toilet. A radio, CD player, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, a Weber charcoal grill,microwave, baking oven, coffee maker, electric kettle and toaster are all provided. Because of the generally low exposure rate at our site, cell phone reception is limited.

Driving Directions Munich Airport:

This unit is located conveniently near Munich Airport. From Munich Airport the distance to the unit at Setzplatz 10, 83676 Jachenau is about 82 km (51.2 miles), approximately a 1 hour 14 minutes drive by car. In addition, there are good public transportation options available for Jachenau, in case you don't want to rent a car. At the top of this page is also a map with the exact location of the object.

Location:
“Altes Forsthaus” is quietly located in the small village Setzplatz. Far from traffic noise, but only a walk of 10 minutes along the creek away from the village’s center with restauranrs, the church, the village grocer’s and the banks. You can also use our “Semmel-Radl” (bread roll bike), which you are welcome to use, to get your breakfast rolls.
The surrounding mountains are also reached quickly. What we offer isn’t an on-farm vacation, but you will be in unspoilt nature. In winter, it’s only a few steps to the cross-country skiing slopes. Ideal conditions, all in all, for not having to drive a car for a few days – and if you want to, you can even get here without car (e.g. by rail). There are direct connections by bus from the train station in Lenggries, and for guests with guest card, travel on the buses between Jachenau and Langgries is free. With advance notice, we will also gladly pick you up from the train station in Lenggries.
History of the Altes Forsthaus
The “old forest house" has a long history. The foundation is now over 100 years old. Until 1995 it belonged to the Bavarian State, from whom it came into the hands of the Warham family. In 1996 the building was renovated from the ground up and adapted to modern standards of comfort. The result is the small, charming oasis of well-being it is now.

Rolling meadows resplendent in flowers, cows peacefully grazing on them in summer, mountain pastures offering pleasant relaxation on mountain hikes, the Walchensee lake drawing bathers with its refreshing water, water sports enthusiasts thanks to the wind and fishermen with its various fishes.
Are you simply looking for peace and quiet?
Jachenau is a place that embodies soft tourism. So, if you couldn’t care less about crowds of people, full beaches and all that, but would prefer lived traditions and places which you can have all to yourself, even at the height of summer, you’ll be in just the right place. You can join activities organized by the tourist info, or just as well go and do what you feel like doing by yourself.
For activities in open air, there are dozens of possibilities: water sports or fishing in the Walchensee lake, biking in the valley or on the mountains, hiking and mountaineering, skiing, cross-country and snowshoe hikes, playing golf, and much more. Bathing in Trimini in Kochel or in the Alpamare in Bad Tölz, visting the Seesauna at the Tegernsee lake. Summer toboggan run and rope course at the Blomberg mountain or at the foot of the Brauneck. Bullcart rides or tandem flights in Lenggries, pedal boat or canoe rides at the Walchensee lake – you are sure to find your personal vacation highlight.
