Description from the owner

Villa Brizay is a very spacious 4 bedroom property. Private swimming pool. High on Monte Puchol with stunning views of Javea, the sea, the hills and Calpe in the distance. At the end of a cul-de-sac so quiet with no passing traffic.

Each bedroom has its own bath/shower room. Built high on Monte Puchol the villa is close to Javea Old Town. An easy walk 10 minute in to town. A bit of a struggle up hill back to the villa. You can also walk to the Port in about 20 minutes.

The views are stunning and the "twinkle" effect at night is amazing. The private swimming pool is a good size and has steps in to the shallow end and a ladder at t...Read more

    Additional Location Information

Jávea has long been the destination of choice for discerning visitors who are not interested in mass-market resorts. Holidays in the area centre around the family, and visitors to the area spend hours at their private villa enjoying the privacy and their own company. The Old Town in Javea has undergone extensive improvements recently and all the work is now finished. There are lots of traditional bars and restaurants in the Old Town, and a number of new trendy tapas bars and restaurants as well. The Museum is worth a visit, and it is lovely just to stroll around in the evening catching glimpses of the village houses, many of which have been lovingly restored.
If you want more action, the Arenal beach area and the Aduanas Port areas both offer numerous bars and restaurants. There is the sandy Arenal beach, and numerous rocky coves including the beautiful Granadella beach. Boats and pedaloes are available for hire at the Arenal beach. Each year Jávea celebrates several fiestas. Ones not to be missed are San Juan, June 18th to 24th, being the main fiesta of the 'old town'. The last night boasts a terrific firework display and the burning of a 'falla'. During July there is the colourful Moors and Christians festival and 1st to 8th September is the Virgen de Loreto, port fiestas. Not to be missed is the last night, 8th September, the firework display over the fishing port is spectacular.
The Northern Costa Blanca has long been a popular holiday destination for Spaniards and foreigners alike. The area is still famous for its Valencia oranges that are exported all over the world. Within half hour's drive is Benidorm where a fun day out is guaranteed with a visit to Terra Mitica (theme park), Aqualandia (water park), Terra Natura or Mundomar. And in the evening a trip to Benidorm Palace where a spectacular cabaret is performed - not to be missed! Visit Alicante to see the old Castle, or wander around the port. And a little more local, enjoy a drive inland to picturesque Guadalest perched high above a lake. The city of Valencia has many monuments well worth a visit and is also a great place to go shopping. And not too far away is Buñol where the world famous 'Tomatina' fiesta is celebrated each year on the last Wednesday of August. It is also possible to visit Barcelona by train in a day!

Nice View - that is it

Left on 11/03/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We have been going to Javea for many years now, have rented various houses and decided that we would try out a new house for our recent trip. Based on reviews and photos we saw online, we thought we found a fitting place to stay for vacation. Although the house takes up to 8 people and we were only three, the rental company was willing to rent it at a reduced price. Once we arrived at the rental agency, the disappointment started. The office was closing and there happened to be a lady locking the door who asked our name and then just handed us an envelope. No hello, no explanation, just the envelope which gave us directions to the house and the key. Upon arrival at the house, we were mesmerized by the view over Javea and of the ocean. But after we entered the house, we realized we made a wrong decision on choosing this vacation rental. The house seems to be the first built on that hill back in the 80s and for that time period it was a house of luxury. Since then nothing has been changed in the house with the exception of maybe newer furniture in the living room. The kitchen, all bathrooms and the bedrooms probably have the same furniture from the initial owner. Although this could be considered retro these days, it was falling apart, sometimes moldy and smelling of its age. The piping in each bathroom was rusted and had a foul drainage smell; the carpets throughout the lower level were stained and smelled like mildew. We may be a bit picky but we like to cook and the kitchen and BBQ were just a nightmare. The cupboards were sticky from years of cooking and humidity and the crockery or anything in them smelled funny. The utensils and silverware have seen better days and should have been changed out a while ago. The stove was from the 80s and we were scared to use it for fear of setting the house on fire. The cooking plates were rusty and the writing near the knobs was worn off so you never knew just how hot they were. The BBQ is just a rusty grill sitting on stone slabs. There were no parasols or seat cushions on the pool deck and only two plastic chairs for the plastic table outside. We had to call the rental agency to request parasols/seat cushions and to fix a toilet problem we had. Although they say someone is always available, we had to leave numerous messages and write emails before someone brought a parasol, however no cushions.
We feel we need to write such a review because for the amount of money this agency takes in per week, there should have been some investment into this house and the service provided. There is a lot of potential in the house but guests should not have to be worried about being disgusted when they step into a room. There are many other houses in Javea that offer better service and nicer amenities for a lower price.

      To summarize things:
+ Awesome view from the pool area and dining area of Javea and ocean
+ Pool area has sun the entire day
+ 5min drive to old town, 10min drive to arenal beach
+ Bar area near pool deck
+ Possibility to accommodate many people
      - Kitchen lacks cleanliness, coffee machine and small amenities like oil, salt&pepper;
      - Bedrooms and bathrooms need to be renovated immediately
      - Cracking paint, mildew smell on carpets and in cupboards
      - Lack of guest services and explanation of house/appliances (especially considering their age)
      - Furniture, appliances, and crockery /silverware very outdated
      - Inadequate BBQ or seating arrangements on pool deck for number of guests
      - No air conditioning

Very large Villa, great location with fantastic panoramic views of Javea Old Town, Port and the Beach area. Good size pool but limited terrace space. Villa well equiped albeit somewhat dated interior. Would certainly recommend this villa particularly if travelling with another family.

Exceptional View in a great family spot

Left on 03/14/2011 for a stay in June 2010

We stayed for a week with two toddlers. You are at the top of the hill with a view over all Javea, the view is breathtaking, quite 'hollywood hills'. We joked it was the kind if view movie stars enjoyed. All the rooms are spacious and the villas exteriors are all secured with security gates. We found it very easy to secure for the kids (who loved it). The bathrooms are of an older design, but very well appointed.

You are at the top of the hill with complete privacy, but walking in summer in Spain isn't really practical. We grabbed free parking down on the front everyday (although I don't know what parking would be like during Peak season.) We could hit the beach in five minutes, I'd really recommend Javea in June. It was so lovely.

I'd have no concerns recommending this private, spacious and exclusive villa.

      Great stay- Fantastic views

Left on 03/14/2011 for a stay in October 2010

We visited Javea in October and stayed at Villa Brizay, we were a party of 6 including 1 child and we all had a brilliant time. The views are just incredible. The owners have obviously been updating the villa as some rooms have been freshly painted; there was brand new crockery and terrace furniture. You definitely need a car to stay here, it is a bit of a steep drive up, but we hired a Punto and had no problems and its well worth it for the views right across the bay of Javea and into the mountains. We spent many an evening on the veranda on the new (and very comfortable) furniture, enjoying the view and the local wine. We tended to go out during the day, having lunch out (lovely tapas) and visiting local sites, its a few minutes drive from the old town and the newer arenal beach area. We also drove a little further to visit the coves around the coast to the south of Javea and Cap de la Nau and went up to the windmills which sit right up on the mountain behind the villa. We had great time here and even managed a slightly chilly dip in the sea and the pool, but it was late October. We would recommend Villa Brizay, especially for a relaxing break away. Great for groups, such as ours.

      Villa with fantastic views

Left on 06/10/2010 for a stay in May 2010

As there were only 2 of us, we only had access to the spacious top floor of this villa. This we found comfortable, (especially the Tempur mattress in the bedroom), but a little tired and in need of modernisation. The main attraction of this villa is the fantastic panoramic views across Javea, out to sea and along the valley. An excellent spot to watch the twinkling lights of the town at night..!
I would be cautious in recommending this villa for children, as the garden is very steep and has few if any safe play areas. Also the pool area would be quite small for a large party. The villa is ideally located close to the old town and port areas, and the main tourist beaches are only a short drive away. A car is essential - preferably small to negotiate the tight little roads up to the villa.

      a Fantastic and relaxing holiday

Left on 06/10/2010 for a stay in May 2010

We were a party of 5 adults , 2 children and had a fantastic holiday in Villa Brizay . The villa is huge , with 4 large bedrooms, great pool and the most brilliant view. I think the view made the holiday for us , right over Javea. The drive upto the villa was not the best experience as its quite a steep and narrow hill , going up in first gear all the way. But you are actually only about 5 mins drive from the main arenal Beach area. The villa was very comfortable lovely lounge and terrace area with plenty of seating and plenty of loungers for us all. Just one thing I would mention that there is only 1 electric point in the downstairs bedroom ,the glasses and crockery could be doing with getting renewed as there are all quite old . On the whole the villa was a great choice of accommodation with plenty of room for us all.
