Hacia el Sur is a very beautiful, traditional villa surrounded by 3,000m of sloping Mediterranean gardens. It has a stunning and very private pool, built inside a natural mountain ravine. This lovely position has an incredible backdrop of the Montgó mountain which looks more like a filmset than reality. One of the most attractive features is that the pool is not immediately in front of the villa. Instead, the owners have created an amazing and complete summer environment, including an incredible summer kitchen, a lounge and bar area, a dining room and a large al-fresco shaded dining terrace. This gives guests the advantage of several very di...fferent environments to enjoy, rather than just the 'pool holiday' that many other quality villas offer.
It is a beautiful and peaceful location with panoramic views from the Mediterranean sea across the valley to distant mountains. There are several areas in which to relax and sun bath, landscaped gardens with secret places to explore, a secluded and private swimming pool, Jacuzzi pool, air-conditioning, Wi-Fi wireless internet access, private parking for up to four cars, and only a few minutes drive away from the sea, golf course, tennis courts and the many delightful restaurants of Jávea. In fact, one of the very best restaurants in Javea is at the bottom of the road, as are two of the best 'meal-of-the-day' restaurants. A perfect retreat to your perfect holiday in the Spanish sun.
Jávea is is a jewel on the Costa Blanca, combining great natural beauty and modern facilities with the charm of ancient fishing port, a traditional Spanish village, golden sandy beaches, rugged mountain areas, unspoiled costal regions, a mild year-round climate, delicious cuisine, extensive tourist facilities and many sport and leisure activities. Jávea has something for everybody.
Master bedroom with double bed, T.V. (BBC and main Sky channels), en-suite shower room with w.c.
Second bedroom with double bed, en-suite shower room with w.c.
Two further double bedrooms with single beds, one with en-suite shower room and w.c., the other adjacent to the main bathroom.
Main bathroom with bath/shower and w.c.
Excellent kitchen with gas hobs, built-in oven, microwave and dishwasher and all the usual small appliances. Separate laundry area with washing machine and hand-wash sink.
Large living room with settees, 48" TV and a wood-burning stove (we call this our winter sitting room).
Large upper 'naya' (covered veranda) with chairs and sofas - and the most spectacular views
Fantastic summer kitchen with induction hobs, two built-in ovens (one with a pizza stone, the other with a steam cooking function), tall stainless steel fridge and separate freezer, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine and microwave. The cupboards are a feature, fitted with antique doors and Indonesian printed fabrics.
Glazed lounge area and bar (another 'naya'), bar stools, low tables and wicker chairs.
Interior dining room with glazed table created from an antique door.
Exterior dining terrace with a big shaded dining table and benches and lighting for evening meals.
Huge BBQ (capable of cooking a whole lamb).
Paella cooking area with gas bottle and a cooking ring.
Shower room with w.c.
Impressive 10m pear-shaped pool built in a natural ravine, surrounded by rocks and gardens with a backdrop of the Montgó mountain behind and glorious southern views.
2m circular Jacuzzi pool just naturally heated by the sun, and built in a hollow in the mountain rocks. Guests say they can sit in it and watch the leaves unfold on the banana tree beside it! (Yes, sometimes we do get tiny bananas - but the flowers attract hundreds of bees so normally we cut them off).
The pool area has gates to close it off for young children.
Two large sun terraces.
Eight sun loungers.
Cast aluminium table and chairs.
Four large umbrellas.
The villa is on the low slopes of the Montgó mountainside. It is one of the highest in the area so has spectacular views from a glimpse of the Mediterranean across the Jávea valley to the hills and distant mountains on the other side.
The plot is sloping with several steps, and unfortunately unsuitable for people with mobility problems.
Much of the plot is left to the natural plants of the area. The rest of the garden contains many Mediterranean plants, plus orange, lemon, grapefruit, fig, mango, avocado and nispero trees.
The owner is an artist and designer - part of his art work is the design of the villa. His studio is a separate building within grounds, with its own entrance, which he uses when he is not working in the open. When he is not painting, he is cooking - thus the big summer kitchen that he designed and had built in what used to be a huge water tank under the house. Sixty years ago there was no water in summer - thankfully things have improved.Read more

We shared the villa with another couple and their children and we all had such a wonderful time. Our host Rod was warm and charming and provided us with all the information we might need to start of our stay. He even went so far as to speak with one of the local restaurant owners to ensure that our meal was the best it could be after discovering that we were going there. The little touches can make all the difference.
The villa and surrounding property is incredible. It is a place built out of love with paintings and decoration from local artists and from around the world shared throughout the house. We would would all spend the day swimming and laughing, venturing into the local towns and then chat happily ending the day under a blanket of stars and tucking the moon in for the night.
There was a huge table outside placed under a canopy and each night was spent utilising a truely fantastic BBQ and cooking facilities. All this under the protective company of an amazing mountain range which would burst into colours such as pink, orange and blues as the sun set and 'our mountain' which the villa was nestled into cared for us during our stay. The only noise would be the happy chatter of birds and crickets.
Amenities are easily within reach and there was a wide variety of suggested restaurants and places to visit courtesy of our host.
I could go on and on about the place but I am afraid that I do not have the writing skills to capture the joy that this time meant to us all. Perhaps the fact that we all wept a little when we left will suffice. We are certainly all the more closer as friends and family because of it.
We certainly hope to return again. Thank you Rod so very, very much.

A beautiful and relaxing holiday

This place is Heaven! One of the best holidays we have ever had. The villa and its location was really peaceful and that is exactly what Michael needed. We went with our friends and their kids, and there were a lot of different places to sit and relax - no one was on top of each other! My favourite place was right at the top of the garden, the highest point with just an amazing view with a little table and bench under a tree. Sunset with a G&T...; Magic!

The setting of the villa couldn't be more perfect. Pieceful and quiet with fantastic views while not feeling too remote. Local restaurants with bars a few minutes drive away and a lovely harbour town or more bustling area near a sandy beach within 15 mins. That's if you want to spend time away from the villa itself which has a fantastic outside area for relaxed eating and a superb modern kitchen if you fancy something other than a BBQ.
All in all, a great family location or somewhere to relax with a group of friends. Top of our list for somewhere to go back to. Read more
