Description from the owner

Light and spacious studio with its own private terrace, satellite TV and wifi internet access, situated in a restored merchant house in central Jerez. Available semana santa.

The studio shares an “Alhambra” style pool in the enclosed oasis courtyard with two other apartments in the same house.

The building is in the flamenco district of San Miguel, and only 150m from the main Jerez square with its many bars, restaurants, shops and large underground car park. Yet despite the central location, once inside, the apartment is quiet, tranquil, a perfect place to relax.

    Additional Location Information

The best way to see Jerez is on foot and the historic town centre is pedestrianised so a car is not required. The main pleasure of Jerez is to wander around the streets lined with orange trees, enjoying a tapa and a glass of wine, relaxing into the Andalucia pace of life. We don’t have so many tourists in Jerez, so you will be made welcome and treated with respect.

The main tourist sights in Jerez are only 5 minutes walk away and include the castle, the cathedral, and many wineries where you can visit and taste sherry.
The central market and a supermarket are also only 5 minutes on foot.
The fresh produce on sale in the central market is locally grown, the fish locally caught, the pork locally cured. You can buy great quality food to enjoy eating on your own patio of your apartment. The kitchen is well equipped and if you need a special ingredient, the owner has a well stocked spice and condiment larder.

Apart from the sherry, Jerez is famous for its horses and for flamenco. You can see the horse show at the Royal Equestrian School.

There are many local fiestas and events throughout the year that give a real insight into the andalucian way of life and culture.

If you want to explore further afield, Cadiz or Seville are about an hour by train. Even Cordoba is possible as a day trip. Buses go to the many coastal resorts – Rota, Sanlucar, Chipiona. Public transport is reliable, clean, economical but not frequent, so plan your trips so you see all you want during your stay.

It is easy and economical to hire a car and explore inland, see the famous “white villages”, and the 4 beautiful national parks that are in the immediate area around Jerez. The beaches of the "Costa de la Luz" vary from rocky inlets to wide kilometers of clean sand.

One Of My Favorite Places To Stay

Left on 02/10/2013 for a stay in August 2012

Casa Leonor is located in the heart of beautiful Jerez, and is truly a fantastic place to stay. It's possible to walk to almost everywhere in the city, yet it feels like a quiet and peaceful street. My husband and I have stayed here twice, we love it so much. The apartments are spacious and well equipped, we had our own private terrace yet accessing the shared pool and patio felt easy. The whole building is decorated beautifully, with many original touches but still feels classical and Spanish.
Asides from being very welcoming hosts, Honor and Roger (the owners) know so much about Jerez and had many recommendations from local events, live music, places to eat, to sherry tours, the best beaches and day trips. We've had a truly varied and exciting stay on both our visits to Jerez staying at Casa Lenor, I recommend this place to all my friends!

      Brilliant

We had a fabulous time in Jerez. Our apartment was absolutely lovely complete with our own private terrace. We also had access to the roof terrace and of course the much needed and absolutely delicious pool. I can't recommend Case Leora enough - great location, great apartment, great hosts. Thank you, hope to be back next year!

      An Oasis in the city

Left on 08/21/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We stayed here on recommendation from a friend and were delighted from the moment we stepped through the impressive entrance. Greeted by Honor, she made our stay one to remember by being so helpful and friendly. We arrived on a Sunday and with the local shops being closed, Honor made sure we had water, tea, coffee, milk and naturally, Sherry on our arrival.

The apartment was large and comfortable with ample cooking facilities. A private terrace as well as shared roof top terrace and swimming pool were very peaceful even though the main square was only a short distance away.

There is no need for a car as the public transport is very efficient, we took bus and train trips to Seville, Rota, Cadiz and arcos de la Frontera. The bus and train station are only a 10 minute walk from the house.

There are also plenty of things to do in Jerez itself and the choice of places to eat in the numerous plazas is endless.

Honor, thank you for making us so welcome, we will highly recommend a stay at Casa Leonor

      Fantastic apartment, setting and owners!

Left on 07/08/2012 for a stay in June 2012

My boyfriend and I live in London and work in pretty manic jobs. We were looking for a chilled out holiday which still offered us enough to do.

Jarez was the prefect place for us as it was quiet but had a good buzz about it. The apartment is set in the cental but quiet location, literally a 2 min walk from the main square where there are plethora of bars and restarauntes. It's also easy to get to Cadiz, Seville and San Luca (for the national park) from either the bus or train station which are 10-15mins walk away.

The couple who run Casa Leonor are fantastic. They did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable, providing us with loads of useful information about local attraction, places to eat and go out, etc.

The apartment we stayed in was huge, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. We had a large private terrace with a beautiful view. The shared facilities (pool and roof terrace) were also excellent and well maintained. We had a BBQ by the pool one night.

We would both definitely come back to both Jarez and Casa Leonor again and would also recommend others to stay here-you won't be disappointed by the town, the apartments or the owners! Thanks for making or stay so memorable.

Quit comfort on a perfect location

Left on 07/04/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Casa Leonor gave us a base to check out Jerez and surrounding.
What made this location even better was Leonor, who informed us about celebrations and special events in Jerez.
We visited bodegas, churches, horseshow, markets enjoyed the eating out and so had a great time.

A hidden gem in the heart of Jerez

Left on 06/15/2012 for a stay in June 2012

Located walking distance from pretty much everything you might want to visit in Jerez, this beautifully refitted townhouse, with spacious and comfortable apartments was a great find. Being our first holiday with our new daughter this was gthe first time we'd taken an apartment, rather than stay in a hotel. That said, with the couryard pool (in a pretty alhambra style) and less than two minutes walk to a milaise of restaurants and tapas bars, we didn't feel we were short of any facilities - but we had the benefit of a great little kitchen. There were laundry facilities and alike as well if necessary.

Finally the owners made us very welcome and helped us make sure we made the most of our week in andalucia.

      Perfect

Left on 06/13/2012 for a stay in June 2012

We have now stayed at Casa Leonor on 2 occasions and will, no doubt, return again and again. The appartment is spacious, clean and well equipped and in addition to your own private patio the pool (very welcome after sunbathing or sight-seeing) and roof terrace are also available.

Honor and Roger(the owners)are perfect hosts could not have been more welcoming and offer helpful advice for day trips, local entertainment etc.

All the major sights of Jerez are within walking distance as are many bars and restaurants.

A car is not necessary as local transport is cheap and reliable. Although the main purpose of our stays was relaxation we have been to Cadiz, Rota and Seville - all easy to get to.

      Casa Leonor is highly recommended.

Staying at Casa Leonor during Samana Santa 2012

Left on 04/25/2012 for a stay in April 2012

What can I say that hasn't already been said in the previous reviews except to tell you of our amazing 11-day stay during Samana Santa, April 2012.

Honor, owner and now friend we hope, met my daughter and I in their 300 year old building which they lovingly restored in 2005 and took us to our apartment by lift (would you believe) for which I am eternally grateful as I am disabled. Here she showed us all the amenities and answered, then and throughout our stay, our many and varied questions (hope we didn't get under your feet too much, Honor).

We slept in very comfortable beds; sunbathed on the spacious patio and cooked meals in the comprehensive kitchen area with food bought at a supermarket and fish market within 5 minutes walk from the apartment. Plaza del aranel is only 2 minutes away with plenty of restaurants. El antigua Cruz Blanc was a favourite of ours when we did eat out. Unfortunately, it was still too cold to swim in the beautiful pool, but gazed at it in awe every morning. Instead I took advantage of the books in the games room library. Maybe next time we'll be able to have a bar-b-q by the pool?

Primarily, our planned visit was for horse shows (for me) and flamenco classes (for my daughter) but one day Honor came to ask us if we would like to watch the Samana Santa procession from her balcony as it was coming down Calle Caballeros at 11.30pm. Could we say no? The atmosphere was electric. Bands playing, choirs singing, the most incredible biblical "floats" in gold and silver (please forgive, I don't know the correct name) and people paying homage to them. Thank you, Honor, the memory will stay with me for the rest of my life.

Best wishes, Joan (and Samantha) Quy

Lovely place, close to central Plaza no need for a car

Left on 04/06/2012 for a stay in March 2012

We stayed here for a week with our 10 month old baby and would definitely return. The one bed apartment was perfect for us, a beautifully restored old building, it had a patio area outside we could enjoy, and although centrally located in the town it was very quiet in the apartment. Would have loved to have a swim in the pool but it was still a bit wintery, the roof terrace is a perfect place to relax too.

We used the nearby carpark which always had a space, and is open 24 hrs. The english speaking owner left a lot of information on things to do and was very helpful with advice. Good cooking equipment was supplied and basics such as seasoning left in the cupboards, the owner even offers the use of her cookbooks and more utensils if you want to get more creative with your cooking. The food markets were a 10 minute walk and had lovely fresh fish, meat and veg.

Jerez is a great location for short drives to beautiful beaches, national parks and other lovely towns like Cadiz and Seville. But if you don't have a car there is plenty to do in Jerez for a few days, and good public transport to these places,. There are two, maybe three apartments in this building, we thought it would have been great to go with some friends.

The owner lives in an apartment and has 2 large dogs, but they certainly aren't scary or loud.

      Home away from home!

Left on 03/21/2012 for a stay in February 2012

Located on a one-way cobblestoned Calle Caballeros in a well-known flamenco neighbourhood of San Miguel with its famous flamenco peñas in the historic part of Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, Casa Leonor has several apartments, one of which I inhabited for 3 fabulous weeks during my visit for its famous flamenco Festival de Jerez.

The charming studio apartment, my home away from home, is a short 2 min walk from the centre of Jerez, with Plaza del Arenal with its majestic monument and fountain, and outdoor cafes, to the left, and the picturesque Statue of Lola Flores on Calle RamĂłn de Cala past the historic part of San Miguel, Cruz Vieja, to the right. And just to the right of Lola Flores Statue is a paradise for flamenco dancers, Milagros Barroso Artesania Flamenca, where the sewing machine never sleeps and works all hours to make costumes for flamenco dancers who come to Jerez every year from every corners of the World.

Parallel to Calle Caballeros and 2 min away from the apartment, is one of the nicest streets in Jerez (of course I say that about all streets in Jerez!), Calle Corredera, adorned on both sides by orange trees in the pavement, and lined with shops.

Teatro Villamarta, site for nightly flamenco shows during the Festival, is just minutes walk from the apartment. No matter how late I was returning from the theatre, I felt safe walking the well-lit streets on the way to the apartment.
Farmer's market, supermarket, restaurants, bars, banks, shops, bodegas...everything was just a short walk from the apartment.

The apartment was immaculate - stylish decor, WIFI connection, satellite TV, kitchen, bathroom + shower. Stunning view from the terrace - the San Miguel church with its bells melodically chiming every half hour.

I highly recommend this perfect abode for anyone who chooses to make Jerez their home away from home. I will forever fondly remember my time spent at the apartment and the neighbourhood, which made my stay in Jerez better than I anticipated.

The view of San Miguel church from the patio Calle Caballeros...just steps away from Plaza del Arenal and other amenities Plaza del Arenal Iconic Statue of Lola Flores
