Townsville, AustraliaLive the Dream in Jerusalem
Left on 04/07/2013 for a stay in March 2013
I stayed in this apartment for nearly 5 weeks, and wished I didn't have to leave. It has great character, an amazing view of Mount Zion, is located centrally in probably the most beautiful neighbourhood in Israel, and I felt at home right away. The landlady, Tzivia, is delightful, helpful, and never intrusive. I will definitely return.

Washington,D.C.Fantastic! Far exceeded expectations.
Left on 01/17/2013 for a stay in December 2012
The location could not have been more convenient to the Old City, King David Hotel, German Colony, Mamilla Center, shopping, restaurants, all easy walking distance. Even Jerusalem Music Center and Montefiore Restaurant right next door. The apartment itself and Yemin Moshe neighborhood, all stone and flowering vines and car-free lanes, have the charming feel of the past but the impeccable quality and standards of modern construction. The apartment itself is lovely, comfortable, easily spacious enough for 2 people, but can accommodate a child or 2 if needed. And Tzivia's warm presence, easy accessibility (she lives in the apartment just upstairs) and generous helpfulness makes us feel lucky to have found this rental. Add to that the very reasonable rental cost, I have no reservations in recommending this apartment for anyone wanting a base to visit Jerusalem.

ConnecticutSpacious accommodations in an ideal location
Left on 12/02/2012 for a stay in November 2012
For the price that you'd pay for a small, generic hotel room, you can stay in this very large 2-room historical apartment with a kitchen in a quiet yet central location. Yemin Moshe is one of the most picturesque neighborhoods in all of Israel: it was the first new neighborhood developed outside of the Old City walls in the 19th century, and is immediately recognized by its imposing (although useless) windmill. Today it has some of the most expensive real estate in Jerusalem. You can walk to the Old City or the downtown area in 10 minutes, and Machne Yehuda market in just about 20 (or walk to Jaffa and take the streetcar). Free parking is available on-site, just steps from the unit. There are several good restaurants right in Yemin Moshe: Eucalyptus was a great place for dinner.
The only minor negatives are that the apartment is on ground level (you'll want to keep the curtains closed for privacy), and hot water is not available 24/7 (the owners will ask you what time you expect to need it). The location may not be ideal for people who have difficulty walking up and down steps, since the neighborhood is built into the side of a hill. For the price of those steps, though, you get amazing views of the Old City!
Tzivia and her husband are very charming and friendly hosts who live on-site, in a separate upstairs unit. They gave us all the privacy we needed but were also available for any questions or recommendations. -

My husband and I stayed in this charming room for two night in July, while visiting Israel. The location is both convenient and charming. It is a walking distance to old Jerusalem, set in beautiful stone paved alleys. The room was great, pleasant and comfortable with a sweet breakfast nook. Service was excellent. Cecilia was a wonderful host. Hopefully we will Have time for a longer stay on are next visit.

Laurel, Maryland, USABeautiful and quaint studio in the heart of Jerusalem
Left on 08/07/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We spent three nights in this lovely apartment and would certainly rent again. We knew nothing about Jerusalem when we made the reservation but discovered that Yemin Moshe, where the apartment is located, is in the heart of Jerusalem. In fact, we had a view of the wall of the Old City from our window! The apartment was clean, spacious and attractive with a comfortable queen-size bed and a fold-out bed that our adult daughter slept on one night. There is a small, but furnished, kitchen and Tzivia left milk in the fridge and supplies for coffee as well. The floors are stone and antique tapestries hang at the windows. There are large sunny windows which can be opened. It was very hot while we were there so we left them and the tapestries closed for the most part. Be warned that Yemin Moshe is a very beautiful area but built on the side of a hill (as are most places in Israel!) and there are lots of steps and hills. This location wouldn't work well for someone with mobility issues. If you stay in Tzivia's apartment, be sure to find The Eucalyptus, a wonderful, hidden restaurant that serves only foods discussed in the Bible. Located in Yemin Moshe and an amazing meal! Thank you, Tzivia, for a lovely visit!

Left on 05/22/2012 for a stay in May 2012
The good news is that the apartment is located in a great part of town, within walking distance of the Old City and in the midst of a charming area, Yemin Moshe.
Communication with the apartment's owners was thorough and responsive.
The kitchenette was reasonably well equipped. The decor is tired and a bit beige, but the apartment is clean.
The bathroom is minute and pretty basic (and hot water goes off during the day, so you can't have an afternoon shower if you come back from a day's exploration feeling hot and sweaty). In addition, the creaky, uncomfortable bed has seen better days and should really be replaced.
Worst of all, though, is that we paid us$30 a night over the current price of $150 a night. When we booked that was the price quoted, but a few weeks later, just before we flew out to Israel, the price dropped. Clearly the owner either hasn't received enough bookings at that rate and has decided to drop it or has decided to charge a rent more in keeping with the standard of the accommodation. You should be aware that, once you've agreed a price, the owner may do the same to you. From personal experience, such practices make you feel as if you've been taken advantage of - not a nice feeling.Response from CECILIA T. OFEK - 07/23/2012

Boston, MALovely, serene place to stay
Left on 09/05/2011 for a stay in January 2011
This is a gorgeous studio apartment, very comfortable and quiet, in a beautiful, centrally located neighborhood built on a cliff overlooking parts of the city. Hosts are friendly and helpful, and there is a small Sephardic synagogue across the narrow cobblestone street that welcomed us in to participate in a bar mitzvah that was happening the last day of our stay. There are lots of stone steps to go up and down to enter the neighborhood, but the tranquility (no cars) and quiet was well worth it. We loved it here and would happily return.

Tzivia and Josse Ofek were warm hosts with much good advice. The location in Yemin Moshe is perfect for seeing both West Jerusalem and the Old City. The apartment is beautiful, light airy, and comfortable, with a good bed and views that are incredible. The decor includes Tzivia's art I was surprised by the charm and beauty of Yemin Moshe. You do need, however, to be able climb up and down the stone steps.

What a wonderful alternative to hotels!! Beautiful, clean Jerusalem neighborhood and close to the Old City, large mall, bus transportaion and restaurants. (try "Luciana"...wonderful!)
The rental itself has a wonderful stone interior with one bedroom, a kitchen area and bath. Perfect for a couple. The owners were so very pleasant and helpful in answering any questions or requests we had. The area is amoung the best in Jerusalem, with patios and walls filled with flowers and beautiful stone streets. Highly recommended and will stay again. -
