      Home away from Home

Left on 05/30/2013 for a stay in February 2013

We stayed in Rachel's apartment for three months this spring while my husband was a visiting professor at Hebrew University. We were traveling with our two young daughters (2 years and 6 months). Rachel was incredibly accommodating. She found a crib, high chair, and bouncy seat for the children. She also equipped the apartment with a washer and dryer before our visit. That was hugely helpful for our family.

The location is perfect. It is a very easy walk to the Machane Yehuda Market which was where I did all our grocery shopping. It is also just a few minutes to King George, Ben Yehuda, and Yafo street. You can also walk to the Old City, German Colony, and Mea Shearim. There is a major bus stop around the corner and another bus stop just outside the building. My husband took to the bus to the Hebrew U campus which stopped right in front of the building.

Rachel was so helpful. Throughout our stay she would email me to let me know about events that she thought would be interesting for our family. She was always available to answer any questions for us. The apartment is just as pictured. We had a wonderful visit in Jerusalem and having a spacious and central location to stay was a major factor in the success of our trip.

      Excellent location

Left on 02/09/2013 for a stay in January 2013

After 4 weeks travelling through Egypt and Jodan, this was a great place to stay for our week in Jerusalem. It felt like home... We were even able to do some washing! The flat had everything that we needed so that we were able to cook ourselves some meals and be comfortable. The weather was quite cold while we were there and it took a few days for the central heating to come back on (it was broken) but in the meantime there were wall air conditioners for heating in the bedrooms and living area. Note: To discourage unnecessary use of the electricity, there is an additional charge for use over a certain electricity reading. There was also Pay TV and free fast wi-fi.

It was a short walk straight down Jaffa Street to Jaffa Gate which is an easy entry into Jersalem's Old City. We took Bus 99 which cruises around the outskirts of Jersalem and stops off at some of the key tourist sites. It was also a short walk to Mahane Yehuda Market for some great grocery shopping or to Ben Yehuda Street for shopping and restaurants.

Rachel welcomed us and gave us a number of tips for making the most out if our trip. It was especially helpful when she showed us where to catch the Sherut to Tel aviv which was just around the corner.

      It was a great stay!

My guests were a lovely mother/daughter team whom it was my pleasure to host. I would just like to clarify something they mistakenly wrote. There are 2 TVs in the apartment and they are both cable. They are naturally completely free for guests. I'm not sure what my guest meant when she wrote Pay TV. Also the new inverter heater AC in every room keeps the apartment very warm and cozy in the cold weather according to the guest's needs.

      Wonderful Sukkot Experience

Left on 11/21/2012 for a stay in October 2012

We (parents with an 8 and 10 year old) stayed in this apartment over Sukkot 2012 and had an absolutely wonderful experience.

The apartment had everything we could possibly use and Rachel was always available to answer questions and offer assistance as needed.

The kids loved that they could walk in minutes to the market or Ben Yehuda street - it was also close enough to walk to the Great Synagogue for Shmini atzeret.

I would recommend this apartment to any family looking to stay in Jerusalem for a short or extended period of time.

We hope to rent again in the very near future.

Great time in Jerusalem for our family - home away from home

Left on 08/12/2012 for a stay in May 2012

We stayed in this apartment in May 2012 after a long period of travel. Our family of four found this to be a wonderful location to rest, and explore Jerusalem and the many sites nearby. We had a parking spot reasonably priced for our hire car and then the reminder of our time without a car we were within walking distance of all the main sites, restaurants and attractions in the Old and new city. Rachel was a wonderful host and made us very welcome. The apartment is homely and well appointed - we would recommend it highly.

Loved the location and the apartment

Left on 06/01/2012 for a stay in May 2012

This spacious and airy apartment is located near the intersection of King George and Ben Yehuda and close to Jaffa Road. It's right where I wanted to be. When I travel, I love to be able to walk in the evening to a nearby lively place, and what could be better than Ben Yehuda Street? We were able to walk almost everywhere, but took a taxi a couple of times because of the heat. That's another reason I chose this apartment--there's a taxi stand right in front on King George Street. I was traveling with a friend and my husband and the apartment accommodated us perfectly. Both bedrooms have plenty of storage space and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen had what we needed and the wifi connection was excellent. I would stay at this apartment again and I recommend it highly. Thank you, Rachel and Gadi!

      Lovely, Central apartment

Left on 01/26/2012 for a stay in December 2011

We stayed in this apartment in December for 3 x weeks and were very comfortable in it.
The apartment is so close to everything in Jerusalem and it was very clean, spacious and warm - even though it was freezing outside.
It was like home from home - we even did our washing in the laundry!
We would definitely stay there again.
Rachel is very friendly and helpful.

Great apartment in a great location.

Left on 12/27/2011 for a stay in December 2011

This clean, roomy, well maintained apartment is located near Ben Yehuda Street and the shuk. It also boasted ample room to host a Shabbat meal for seven or eight. The landlady, Rachel, was quite helpful both prior to and during our stay. We feel very fortunate to have found such a comfortable vacation rental, and would not hesitate to stay here again and recommend it to friends.

      Perfect (and quality)

Left on 12/20/2011 for a stay in November 2011

This apartment was perfect for us in so many ways, the most of which is the location. It was central to everything we wanted to do, we took the short walk to the Old City daily. The apartment was spacious and had everything we needed (the kitchen included all that we needed for Shabbat). Dealing with the manager was a delight, she helped make it easy for us to feel immediately "at home". I'm already recommending this spot to friends.

      Bright, Clean, Ideal Location

Left on 11/29/2011 for a stay in November 2011

This apartment is ideally located a short walk from the Machane Yehuda shuk and the shops and restaurants of Ben Yehudah and Jaffo Street. The apartment is bright and clean and features 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, an ample living rm/dining rm, well equipped kitchen and a laundry room with washing machine. Also 2 TVs and wireless internet are provided along with the use of a shabbat elevator. Beds were comfortable and showers worked well with sufficient hot water. We were 2 couples and there was plenty of room and privacy. Would be ideal for a family with 2 to 4 chilkdren. The host (Rachel) was warm, attentive and easy to deal with.

The new light rail and bus stops are close. The old city and kotel are a 30 min walk, or 20 min. after a short light rail ride. Taxi fare to and from the old city is 40NIS. Easy bus ride to Israel Museum and light rail to Yad Vashem.

the perfect home away from home.

Left on 09/25/2011 for a stay in August 2011

Arrving in jerusalem late in the evening, we found Rachel and her husband waiting to hand over the keys. We were greeted with warmth and willingness to help with all our needs. We found a spotless unit with all one needs for a comfortable stay. There were many small and surprising inclusions like: coffee, tea, dishwashing liquid, washing powder and even some fresh fruit in the fridge. The unit is very central with easy access to public transport and the view from the 8th floor was stunning.

Excellent family location with nearby shuk

Left on 09/15/2011 for a stay in August 2011

We were in Jerusalem for a week and got completely spoiled by this apartment. High on the 8th floor, you get a great view, a lovely evening breeze, and a great view of sunrise.

Since we ate many of our meals in, it was great to have the Shuk Mahane Yehuda nearby, as well as the ubiquitous 6/24 store. The Old City is within walking distance, but you can pick up a taxi right at the apartment, as it is on the Lev Yerushalayim square. It's also just a skip away from Ben Yehuda street, where there are numerous eateries and places to shop.

The apartment amenities were well-thought out, and we lacked for nothing. The only slight problem we had is that I have a very tall husband and he found it somewhat difficult to sleep with the footboard on the master bed.

The apartment easily slept four (double bed in master bedroom, two twins in the other), and another person could have slept on the couch. Everything was clean and the place was tastefully decorated to give a true feeling of "home away from home."

Rachel and Gadi are very knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. You will not be disappointed if you stay at this apartment!

Overlooking the city from the kitchen side of the apartment. Looking toward the road that leads to Shuk Mahane Yehuda, a wonderful open air market. The Hurva Synagogue in the Old City is within walking distance of the apartment.

Great location for visiting the heart of Jerusalem

Left on 09/02/2011 for a stay in August 2011

My husband and I stayed with a friend and his daughter at this apartment, which is on the 8th floor with a wonderful view of the area and a welcome cool breeze in the evening. The apartment was well furnished, with an excellent kitchen (we ate some of our meals in) and a washer/line dryer so we didn't have to pack so many clothes. The owner and her son greeted us and were very helpful and warm, and made our first trip to Israel very special with their kindness.

Many places are within walking distance, though we often opted for a cab ride for 35-45 shekels as it was so hot. When we did not take our meals at the apartment, there were numerous places to eat within a 5-10 minute walk. There are 6/24 markets nearby where you can buy just about anything you would need to make simple meals. The Yehuda Machane market, a bit further of a walk but completely do-able if you are carrying bags of groceries, is an experience not to be missed!

We were glad we brought washcloths, as they seem to be in short supply in Israel. We also wished we would have brought a packable, soft-sided insulated bag for shopping and sight-seeing. Other than that, we were completely happy with our stay.
