      A home away from home

Left on 04/05/2013 for a stay in March 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Peter's villa. Peter's correspondence prior to booking was excellent as he answered any questions that I had about the villa. At the villa, the service was excellent as Wayan and his family are so considerate and helpful and most importantly friendly! The villa is exceptionally clean and pleasant, which was very welcomed. You have access to TV, internet, and an assortment of videos. The bathrooms are also very clean. The outside was great to sit and relax and the plunge pool so wonderful to replenish. Although there is a fair amount of traffic noise (you don't see the traffic), after a short while you don't notice it anymore. It feels like an oasis. Wayan is a great driver who is very flexible and helpful when you wish to tour areas. I would recommend hiring him for any excursion that you may wish to do. The only drawback is location. Shopping for groceries is accessible but you must walk on busy streets to get there. The villa is some distance from other things (Kuta), however it is still very accessible to wherever you wish to go.
All in all, I highly recommend staying here.

      Perfect for a family!!

Left on 12/31/2012 for a stay in January 2011

From pick up till drop off, this was hands down, our best holiday!! The pool is wonderful but the Balinese family taking care of you will contribute even more so to a 5 star rating. We relied heavily on Wayan (driver and house manager) and for good reason. He played the role of an experienced concierge, knew anything we asked of him. The food from the family was also amazing, always fresh and so so tasty. We also appreciated the aircon and fly screens. Go to Gegar Beach and the local beach (near ayana resort - can't recall name), 300 steps down but the lift is better. By the way, the daily housekeeping is brilliant, not a quick sweep through like some. Take a walk into town, wish I had done it sooner. You can experience so much more and all of the locals are so friendly.

      Home away from home

Left on 11/22/2012 for a stay in October 2012

We stay at the Villa in October 2012 for 4 nights; we wished we stayed longer.
It’s a beautiful Balinese villa with a lovely homely feel to it. Wayan and his family that are caretakers of the property are fantastic; they are a very friendly, kind Balinese family. Our girls (aged 4 & 5 years old) loved playing in the pool with Wayan granddaughter Winnie while I relaxed on the patio and my husband touched up on his bahasa with Udhe. The girl’s also loved visiting Wayan family compound nearby on there early morning walks. The food served at the villa was great and there were also many warungs close by. Nirmala supermarket was within walking distance, no sidewalks so need to take care when walking with children.
The villa provides everything you need, it’s a home away from home; we loved every minute of our stay here and we will be back!

Relaxing home, makes you feel like you live in Bali.

Left on 08/02/2012 for a stay in June 2012

We came here at the start of our Bali vacation. Our family of four includes 2 toddlers (1 & 3) and mom and dad. Overall, this was an excellent relaxing place to stay with my family. While the property is gorgeous and Balinese in style (interior is a little older fashioned but comfortable, and clearly someone's home), I especially appreciated the child-friendliness of the house, including temporary pool fence, toddler bed, high chairs, option for strollers, and use of car seats. Added perks were having a clothes washing machine in the house, lovely yard/patio, and fully functional kitchen (with microwave, toaster, fridge, stove), and the ultimate best was the warm friendliness of the service staff, Wayan and his family.

The house is walking distance to Nirmala supermarket and water park (10 minutes by foot), and a number of great places to eat or get a massage. The roads are a little hectic for walking, especially with toddlers (no sidewalks and lots of traffic), and to get anywhere significant like a Ulu Watu, Balangan, Geger Beach, or other places, you will need motorized transport (not realistic on foot). Wayan will drive for a fee, you can rent a motorbike cheaply, or rent a car if you are game.

My favorite thing about this house was being able to have everything at home and quickly get to the nearby market if needed... and the wonderful staff...and the gorgeous patio/pool...and the child friendly features! My least favorite thing was having to rely on a car to get my family anywhere significant (fares add up). That said, staying in the Ungasan area is much less touristy and really made us feel like we lived there!

Peace and quiet at the lovely Bali Holiday House.

Left on 06/27/2012 for a stay in June 2012

After staying in Kuta for 6 nights moving on to the Bali Holiday House in Ungasan, just up the road from Jimbaran, seemed like a world away from the busy, crazy, shopping mecca of the Bali we beleved we knew. Open the gate to a little paradise of peace and tranquility. beautiful gardens and a very comfy house with all that you need for a great stay. Our kids, 3 boys (twins of 4 years and a 7 year old) Had a great time in the pool and in the house. Our host family were lovely and only too eager to please. The food was lovely and there were many great warungs reaaly close that served great food. A supermarket nearby and close to the surf of Ulawatu and Padang Padang etc. All in all we loved it and will be back there again one day. Thanks Peter and Shelda for all your help and such a fabulous Villa.

Really thankful to have stayed here

Left on 12/31/2011 for a stay in December 2011

This villa gave us a glimpse of village life we never would have had at any resort. The kids loved the private pool and the caretakers were amazing. The family had fantastic food we could order for a great price, Wayan (caretaker) drove us everywhere for reasonable prices and was a wealth of knowledge. It was just a perfect place for me, my husband and two girls (ages 3 and 6). It is not near a beach, but within reasonable driving distance. This villa is actually closer to Ungasan rather than Jimbaran. We also enjoyed the unbelievable movie collection at the villa and the insider's guide that was written for the guests by Peter and Shelda, the owners. The guide was terrific and really helped out. We learned so much from the caretakers here, and enjoyed having two large rooms and a beautiful garden and pool to play in. It should be noted that the house is not completely closed to the outside, so we did experience some moths and other bugs as well as cicaks (geckos), but even for me (totally phobic) it was fine. No roaches. The villa was very clean and alit and Wayan did a great job cleaning the place every day - even folded our clothes for us and posted "Merry Christmas" signs! We are so grateful to have spent 10 days here and hope to return!

Kitchen, Dining area and part of living area Great garden and pool - perfect size for our kids to play the day away while we relaxed.

We stayed three nights at the very end of our trip. The house is just great! Very cosy, very clean, very comfortable. Two bathrooms and very nice little pool to take a dip. Wonderful. The family next door is very helpful in case you need anything. We enjoyed the house so much, we just didn't want to leave.
We will most definitely be back!

      Home away from home

Left on 05/03/2011 for a stay in March 2011

The was our first trip to Bali and hopefully not our last. The house is well located away from the hustle and bustle of Kuta yet close enough to go in for shopping or day trips (20 mins taxi ride) The villa had all of the essential services like small markets, massages and food within walking distance. The place is clean and well maintained. Wayan and the family were very friendly and helpful, more than willing to pick supplies up for us, or drive to any destination we desired. Try the meals at the house, excellent food and great value. We stopped going to restaurants after realizing how good the food was right at the house.

This place felt like our home away from home. We traveled with two small children ages 1.5 and 4 and this place had everything we would ever need. Car seats, cot, strollers, air conditioners you name it. We loved just being able to sit back and relax by the pool in the beautiful gardens while the children play.

If we ever get back to Bali this is the place we will stay.

Staying at Bali Holiday House in Ungasan village

Left on 04/26/2011 for a stay in April 2011

For those who enjoy a little extra adventure, the opportunity to experience village life and also to relax away from the tourist hubs elsewhere on the island, Bali Holiday house is a fantastic choice.

We stayed for 4 weeks early in the year with two young children, enjoying the house with its beautiful well kept garden and pool as our sanctuary for relaxation every day.

Ideal for surfers in the family, the house is 10 minutes from all the surf spots; and just outside the village and its fun eating spots.

Host Wayan and his family will make it happen, whatever it may be, and make your holiday a joy. If you need articles for the house, a particular type of food (we liked fresh cut fruit daily and some extravagant dinners at home) or a trip to the shop or the other side of the island, you just need to ask. We also had a full time babysitter organised for us, which with two children under 2 and a half, gave us a break and honestly made the holiday.

Everything was kept neat and tidy for us on a daily basis and within our schedule. Our children were welcomed by the family and played with their new friends in the adjacent field chasing cows, hens and chicks.

The house and Wayan's vehicle are well equipped for children - the house has a simple removable pool fence, cot and trundle bed and aC rooms whilst there are car seats for travelling.

The house itself is spacious, well kept and a pleasure to spend time in, with nice landscaping and appliances.

You should stay here if you'd like to learn a little language, experience the village life of Bali and escape from it all a bit - bring your sense of adventure.

Gorgeous place to relax and enjoy! Highest recommendation.

Left on 01/19/2011 for a stay in January 2011

We loved this place! It was the perfect end to our journey, where we could relax and enjoy. The small pool is perfect for keeping cool on warm days. The garden, temple and carvings are beautiful and we felt like royalty relaxing at the Villa!

It was also very economical for us, especially when you have a party of three! Far nicer than many of the places we stayed at and paid the a similar price in total. It was a nice mix of the amenities of home with traditional living. Close to Ulawatu and Jimbaran Bay Seafood dinners on the beach.

Plus it's great to be south of the airport so you're less affected by Kuta's traffic congestion. Took us all of 15 minutes to get there, and is further from the airport from Kuta, which can take 45 min to an hour to get to the airport from!

We love bali and have been holidaying there for the last 3 years, however this was our first stay at this villa. It wont be our last stay here. This holiday villa is a beautiful place to stay away from the husstle and bussle of Kuta. Wyan and his family are just the most lovely people, who know how to look after the guests without intruding. The food that they cook for you in the villa is reasonabley priced, delicious and generously proportioned. the villa is clean and comfortable and the pool is great for that cooling dip. We stayed with our 2 boys, aged 6 and 9, the villa and Wyan's family accommodated to them very well. We could not fault our stay here except to say that it was not long enough, but holidays in bali rarely are long enough.

Fantastic value for a family with baby and toddler.

Left on 04/23/2010 for a stay in October 2009

Such fantastic value. I stayed with my husband, baby and a toddler.
Everything was provided, baby cot, small bed, even two car seats for use
when we went with Wayan. The staff, all members of Wayan's family, were
so friendly and helpful. When we had our evening meals, ( the best in
Bali ), at the villa they looked after the children and husband and I
had a meal together without any interuptions, a luxury we do not get at
home. The bedrooms are air conditioned, a must for my children. Although
the rest of the house is not air conditioned there always seemed to be a
breeze that kept the house cool. Another feature we liked was the villa
is fully fly screened that kept mossies to a minimum. All facilities are
close by. I managed to get four relaxing massages in during our stay.
The lounge area is much larger and comfortable than other villas we had
stayed in. My husband works very hard so most of our stay was relaxing
at the villa and in the pool. The pool is well designed for small
children with a wide shallow shelf that even the baby could sit on. we
did go to Geger Beach, just a short drive from the villa. It is a great
beach and quite shallow at low tide so our toddler could paddle to his
heart's content. Of course I did lots of shopping. Ramayana, in
Denpasar, and Matahari are my favourites. Wayan waited and collected my
shopping when it got too heavy to carry. I got so many clothes and shoes
for the children, at bargain prices, it almost paid for the holiday. I
have boooked again for August for more relaxation and shopping.

Left on 04/18/2010 for a stay in March 2010

This was my second stay at the villa. The bedrooms are lovely and cool.
The lounge is very comfortable. We like to get the Australian AFL via
satelite tv. The family who look after the villa were so friendly and
very very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Wayan ( who
drove us ) knows all the tourist places to go to and when we wanted to
find wood carvings he knew exactly where to go. Wayan's daughter does
the cooking and the food is so yummy. We like seafood and she cooks the
prawns to perfection. The villa is within walking distance of everything
we needed. We enjoyed walking to the Massage salon and got thouroughly
pampered. We stayed with another couple this time and we all enjoyed the
space compared to our past visits to Bali when we stayed in hotel rooms,
which we found very cramped - we did enjoy the space of the villa. The
pool was great for early morning swims and to cool off in after a day of
sight seeing. The pool is kept very clean and sparkling.

      Another Little bit of Heavan

Left on 04/17/2010 for a stay in April 2009

My wife and I visited Peter & Sheldas' Holiday Villa and still talk about it today. The home was spotlessly clean and was maintained on a daily basis by a lovely Balinese family. We could not have asked for a more friendly family to look after our needs which included delicious Balinese food cooked on the premises if we so desired, for a very reasonable price. The family also provided transport to anywhere on the Island and that charge was at a very competative price. The pool although not large was all we needed to cool off. The furnishings in the house were of good quality and from memory we did not want for anything. We are planning to go back to their lovely home as soon as possible and we have no problem in recommending it to everyone. Oh how we miss it!

Nice to place to see the New Year in

Left on 04/16/2010 for a stay in December 2009

We stayed for a few nights from about the 30th Dec to 2nd January. Felt like a bit of a trek there from Ubud, but it was in heavy traffic over the main holiday time , and on the only day we had rain in 12 days in Bali over Xmas.
The villa was delightful, spotlessly clean, spacious and extremely relaxing.
The family were so charming, friendly and helpful, and the ladies cooked fantastic meals for us - as promised by Peter and Shelda, very generous serves, freshly prepared and presented so beautifully.
Wayan was always ready to help with transport and lots of information and friendly chats. Wayan junior was a star, taking our 21 year son into Kuta on the back of his bike on New Year's Eve (in unbelievable traffic) and then heading back to collect him in the van the next day!
When we arrived the local boys were in full party mode for New Year in their roadside hut down the road, complete with fluoro painted walls and boom boxes and a continuous supply of bintang. there was a bit of doof doof noise from that (for the duration of our stay) but it all added to the atmosphere.
Despite that the villa was so relaxing - the photos don't do the pool area justice, it really is a beautiful, private spot to chill out and we actually had to force ourselves to go out on New Year's eve - it was so balmy and blissful there.

Can fully recommend the villa as a base to explore the peninsula and drive to surf beaches, the temples etc. It is not so accessible to things within walking distance, though lots of shops etc a short drive away and the road is pretty busy now as the resorts at the bottom of the peninsula are certainly drawing traffic.
The family are lovely and quietly helpful, and it is a nice private alternative spot to stay.

We enjoyed being out of the rush of Kuta. We relaxed by the pool. Wayan and his family made sure we had everything we needed. When we wanted to go into Kuta or do a tourist trip to Ubud etc Wayan was able to take us at a very reasonable price. There is a mobile phone for guests,we used it when Wayan took us to the beach, when we were ready to come back we just called him. The supermarket and shops nearby were enough for our normal daily needs. The food cooked by Wayan's daughter was better than most restaurants we had eaten in so we made sure we booked meals most nights. We were even able to watch footy on Australia Network Tv. We are an older couple and I would say the villa is ideal for those who want their own space. We will be going back again.
