Elkton, MarylandThis place is amazing
Left on 01/26/2013 for a stay in January 2013
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to all the staff at Tranquility Bay for their gracious, warm welcome and assistance throughout our stay. Felmina was especially helpful with her knowledge of TB and the island. We did not purchase a meal plan, which worked great for us as we ate several meals at the Crow's Nest and even got to watch our Ravens win their Championship game. We also had a day of sailing with Captain Kevin on the Hawnalea which was the most amazing experience we've had. We would recommend the sailing trip to everyone. We look forward to returning someday soon to to enjoy the most beautiful beach we've ever been to. Thank You for everything...Randy, Nancy and friends

Spring Lake, New JerseyGreat beach, but everything needs to be updated
Left on 10/15/2012 for a stay in October 2012
This area of antigua was very nice and lush. The beach was the the the highlight of the trip. Not very crowded for this time of year. The staff was very helpful and friendly, but the rooms were in great need of updating. We switched our first room because the drapes were this bamboo roll up thing that you would use on your porch, so you can see right in the room at night. Being on the first floor we weren't happy about that. The aC in the main bedroom wasn't working that well. The free wi-fi would not work as well. I'm not usually not one to complain that much because we as little time in the room as possible but in the first room we had the furniture was kind of disgusting with dirty and missing cushions. The grounds were not that kept up, but being so close to the beach was a real plus. Jolly Harbor is one of the nicest and calmest beaches on the island. Over all I would not come back to this vacation property, thru no fault of of all the great people that work there, they were very helpful. If you go to antigua bring mosquito repellant. We found it much easier to use EC money then us because we felt that some places had different conversion rates. Most places of buisness do not take Discover card (no foreign transaction fee). If you rent a car there is a feee for a temporary license which was about 20 bucks, and don't forget the departure tax of 28 us dollars per person.

33801Perfect Family vacation-- can't think how it could have been bet
Left on 04/22/2012 for a stay in April 2012
Loved Tranquility Bay. It was just what the name implied. We had a 2 BD suite on the 3rd floor of Wadadli Paradise. Wasn't a water view, but there was a partial view of the marina and good views of antigua's mountains from the spacious terrace. Very peaceful with cool breezes always blowing. We ate 1-2 meals out there every day. Our suite was very comfortable. Loved that the 2nd bedroom had 2 double beds, able to fit our 11 yo 8yo and 7yo very easily. Sturdy island decor furniture. Beautiful dark woods. Small, but well-appointed kitchen. Had every utensil and tool you might need. The property is large, well-maintained, with beautiful tropical flowers everywhere. Staff was warm, knowledgeable, and friendly. Greeted us with warm smiles and rum punch upon arrival and always willing to make suggestions on where to eat or go. Suite could be rented as a standalone or as part of an all-inclusive plan, in which case you would eat at the adjacent property Jolly Beach Resort. We did not choose the all-inclusive plan, and ate off the resort most of the time. As expected, everything on the resort was very expensive, including the supermarket, but we ate well locally, with large portions and very affordably. Try the Kitchen King, on the main road out of Jolly Harbour. Delicious jerk chicken with rice and peas combo. Stop by the side of any road for fresh fruit--mangoes, bananas, cantaloupe, watermelon. Black pineapple is the sweetest you've ever tasted. If you're not planning to include meals, you should rent a car because there's not much in walking distance. But driving (on the left side) isn't for the fainthearted (very few street names, large potholes, dodging parked cars, animals and map is only a guideline not true representation). Jolly Harbour itself is very quiet and relaxing. Beach is gorgeous and wasn't packed, even at peak time. Water stays shallow for quite a ways. Sand is powdery fine, very easy on the feet. Lovely pool at Jolly Beach Resort. Again, only about 4 ft all the way around, so our youngest was very comfortable. Plenty to do off the resort. Not a big party place but lots to do outside. Only cons-- internet access wasn't very reliable, and power went out nearly daily (but generator kicked on immediately) All in all, perfect family vacation-- kids didn't want to leave!
