Palo Alto, CADesert on your front porch!
Left on 04/14/2013 for a stay in April 2013
Rock Haven Cabin is the best Vbro get-a-way that we have ever experienced. Beginning with the owners being there at check-in to show us around and explain how to use the hot tub, to pleasant early morning and evening walks into the desert, to hot tubbing at sunrise and sundown, to awaking to the sounds of quail in the morning, to the incredible night sky (with Orion, the Big Dipper, and the Milky Way in plain view), to the cozy comforts inside the cabin. Solar power, eco-friendly products, and a feeling of 'greenness' prevailed. This was a welcoming, wonderful place, with easy access to Joshua Tree National Park. The cabin and the grounds were in impeccable shape, and the owners were just up the road, had we needed anything. For those who have to be tethered, even while on vacation, internet access is available... Rock Haven Cabin should be on everyone's bucket list if Joshua Tree National Park is your vacation destination.

We truly couldn't have been happier with Rock Haven Cabin. We're rock climbers who had never been to Joshua Tree before, and we wanted a place with easy access in & out of the park. The cabin was just what we wanted. It was cozy and private, but had all the necessities (we cooked there every night) -- plus a hot tub for two overlooking the park! Everything was immaculate and obviously very thoughtfully arranged and cared for by the owners (who met us upon arrival just to make sure we had everything we needed). When returning to Jtree, we will definitely stay at Rock Haven Cabin again, and I whole-heartedly recommend it.

We loved this cabin. It was clean, cozy and quiet. We had everything necessary to enjoy a relaxing time in the quiet beauty of the dessert. The spa was amazing at night under the stars. Kathy and Eva were very gracious and gave us great tips on places to eat, shop etc. We would rent this place again for a longer period. Enjoy!!!

Left on 01/07/2013 for a stay in January 2013
My husband surprised me with a weekend in this cabin and a visit to the park. He hit it on the mark, this cabin is a wonderful place to pass your mornings and evenings around a visit to Joshua Tree. The cabin is in a quiet location that looks out on the boundary of the park, and one of the highlights of the cabin was its patio from which we watched the desert wildlife (quail, coyotes, rabbits) in the mornings and evenings, and at night, we just watched the stars while enjoying the outdoor spa tub. It is clear that the owners' take pride in the cabin and maintain it really well, the exterior gravel and landscaping is very orderly, and the interior was extremely clean, the linens were of good quality, and there were thoughtful touches everywhere such as soft throw blankets, comfortable furniture, nice bath products, and flashlights and binoculars for the tenant's use. We just left the cabin today and I've already told my husband that if we go back to Joshua Tree that is where we are staying!

Rock Haven cabin is an ideal get away - in a perfect location for trips to Joshua Tree national park, and incredibly comfortable. It is beautifully furnished, wonderfully secluded, and sitting in the hot tub under the sky, twinkling with so many stars is quite a luxury. We loved watching the the quails from the terrace, whose ridiculous running made us laugh every time, and seeing a coyote from the terrace was another real treat. The cabin and the whole experience is highly recommended!

Left on 08/29/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We had an amazing time during our three nights here--a great respite from our normal hectic life in NYC! The cabin has an exquisite desert landscape all around and truly feels like it's in the middle of nowhere. Every morning we got up to watch the sunrise and see the charming quail and rabbits start to emerge. Then we'd do one of the many beautiful hikes in the area (before it got too hot), grab lunch in town, come back to the cabin for a nap or some yoga on the patio, grill some dinner we could enjoy on the patio, and then stargaze in the hot tub. Everything was perfect! The cabin was clean, pretty, nicely decorated, and had everything you would need. Eva was extremely helpful with directions and showing us everything at the house.

Left on 06/28/2012 for a stay in June 2012
This was the most amazing retreat!! Eva and Kathy were the most gracious hosts - giving us great hikes to do, inviting us to a community event and just have the little touches in the house (coffee, bird seed, etc.)
Being that we were are the start of summer, it would get hot by noon so we would get up and hike early and then come back and sit under the porch. They had two chaise lounge chairs that were great to sit and look out at the desert. There was always an afternoon breeze and we would read and play games outside. By 4pm the little quails would come by along with the rabbits - so relaxing!!
We will definitely be back! -

Left on 06/01/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We arrived late afternoon on a Friday after a traffic filled journey from Los angeles. Owners, Eva and Kathy met us warmly and walked us through every facet of their lovely guest house. We were instantly at home. They are so sweet! (They even took out a splinter we got while hiking.) The location is beyond ideal, walking distance to the National Park entrance. The vistas are spectacular and its so quiet and sparsely populated. If you need to decompress from the city grind in one of the most beautiful natural environments on earth, this is a perfect place to do it.

We stayed here 4 nights early Feb. Very sad to leave. The cabin was spotless the king size bed so comfy and the amenities perfect. Our views were spectacular, we enjoyed breakfast on the patio watching all the birds and gazing at the views of the national park and drinks on the patio at night admiring stars like I had never seen before, and dipping in the marvelous salt water hot tub. The owners are wonderful, kind, friendly and helpful whilst leaving you alone to enjoy the tranquility or being there if needed for advice on hikes restaurants etc.We will go back again one day for sure.

This lovely cabin was in the most amazing location - sweetly tucked away and private - yet with the most beautiful view of - and easy access to - the park. The cabin was immaculately maintained, with 4 star comforts - like plush bedding and towels, super kitchen, and a wonderfully private hot tub tucked behind it with endless views of the park. Every little detail was well thought out, the hosts were very welcoming, and we can't wait to get back. A truly great place to soothe your soul and relax in the magic of the desert.

San Diego, CAPerfect respite...
Left on 05/25/2011 for a stay in March 2011
Dear Eva and Kathy, my appreciation to you is way too tardy but nonetheless sincerely expressed for providing me with a perfect vacation retreat.
I think you have done a great job with the desert cabin. I was soothed by the cool beauty and simplicity of your handiwork. How often does an urban dweller ever have such a perfect respite? The utter quiet of the natural desert
brought me into oneness with all life as a part of it rather than as a visitor. The quail and jack rabbits were checking me out and welcoming me to their realm.
Thank you for knowing to add clean water and salts to the hot tub instead of chlorine. I soaked every night out under the vast universe of stars, satellites, and moon before sinking into that comfortable bed. Small things can be so joyful...like having a morning cup of coffee outside while the little critters begin their songs... and the sun bursts brightly from behind the boulders. There is no better way to
refresh and reboot than a peaceful communion with the pure desert environ of your Rock Haven Retreat Cabin. Truly Exquisite.
Thank you for a wonderful visit. Judith

Los AngelesPerfect Joshua Tree Retreat
Left on 04/05/2011 for a stay in December 2010
When the sun rose in front of the Rock Haven Cabin, I had to pinch myself. There was a 360-degree view that culminated at the actual Joshua Tree Park entrance. I was surprised that at the end of my 4-day stay, I had to pry myself off of the property to officially explore the park. The view from the back porch was an unobstructed desert landscape for well over a mile. Everywhere I turned there was something exciting to see including beautiful rock formations, various cacti as well as the animated and magnificent Joshua trees. The roadrunners, rabbits, owls, lizards and coyotes were all that moved in the desert stillness.
This was a perfect getaway to unplug and unwind. There were views from every side of the cabin. The only problem I had was that I couldn't stop taking photographs of the splendor. Simple touches of luxury included bathrobes, linens, plush blankets and organic coffee. Also the attention to the interior detail really made this rental stand out. The friendly owners Eva and Kathy provided everything I could possibly want to make this home my own.
The cabin with its fireplace, hot tub, star studded skies and hiking trails make for a perfect romantic getaway or simply a luxurious retreat. Rock Haven in Joshua Tree is a slice of heaven that I plan to revisit year round. -

What a fantastic holiday! The cabin was flawless, the location was perfect and at night, there was absolute silence from inside the hot tub under the stars. We hiked every day in different areas of the park, and our host took me on an impromptu hike behind the cabin that was magical. Thank you for a wonderful time. I highly recommend it!

Left on 02/22/2011 for a stay in February 2011
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this little, private, serene and perfectly situated cabin a stone's throw from the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. The cabin is spotless and though small, Eva and Kathy have made every effort to make guests comfortable: bathrobes, slippers, soft towels, fully equipped kitchen (even spices for cooking!), a wood burning fireplace and the most lovely 2-person hot-tub with a view to the mountains, at night a Galileo-strewn sky and in the morning the sounds of birds greeting the day.
Cabin could not comfortably sleep four in my opinion- though there is a pullout couch in the main room, it is really ideal for two.

Portland, ORA Perfect Respite While Exploring Joshua Tree!
Left on 11/27/2010 for a stay in November 2010
My son and I recently stayed in this wondeful, sweet cabin - it was the perfect place to call home while we explored the park. It was clean, comfortable, quiet, private, fully equipped (not only for cooking, but also full of interesting reading about hiking and the geology of JT), and very close to the park entrance. In addition, the salt water hot tub afforded us a much-needed soak after a long day of hiking and bouldering, and also served as an excellent vantage point to view the vast array of stars. The hosts, Eva and Kathy, graciously welcomed us and ensured that we had all we needed for our stay; we felt well cared-for and immediately knew we had landed in just the right spot for our all-too-short visit to Joshua Tree. My son and I agreed that upon each return visit to JT, Rock Haven would be the place we would choose to stay.

What a little slice of paradise! A perfectly romantic place to get away from it all. Soothingly decorated with great colors and modern touches that have that mid century vibe. A comfortable bed, roomy bathroom, a kitchen/living room complete with groovy fireplace and binoculars are all you need when you have the slew of stars that await you every night. Thanks for the morning coffee (organic and all!). It's conveniently located at the entrance to the incredibly stunning Joshua Tree National Park which means the park is your backyard. We arrived at night and had no idea of our gorgeous surroundings until the golden morning sun revealed its beauty. Obvious that we love it there. Thanks for a wonderful stay. We will be back!

OjaiA peaceful, relaxing retreat
Left on 09/16/2010 for a stay in September 2010
We stayed at the Rockhaven Cabin for two nights in September. It was a last minute reservation but we were fortunate that it was not booked and the owner was very nice and accommodating.
The location is superb, you can literally walk from the cabin into the park and to hiking trails, or it is about a three minute drive to the west entrance. The cabin was very clean, comfortable and nicely furnished. The kitchen is well equipped with anything you could want or need. It is very private with large rock formations right outside the cabin. There are two comfortable lounge chairs on the patio for watching the sunrise and just hanging out, as well as a table and two chairs outside for dining. The best part is the spa for two, which you can relax in under the beautiful night sky. There is no TV or phone, which to me is a plus, since the whole point of going there was to relax and get away from all that.
Eva is very helpful and gave us tips on where to hike. There are books about Joshua Tree in the cabin, a topo map, and binoculars for bird or wildlife watching (we did see some bighorn sheep in the Park). I would highly recommend the Rockhaven Cabin for anyone who wants to relax and experience the beauty of the desert, and as a great base for exploring the park. -

Thank you Eva and Kathy for a wonderful long weekend! Rock Haven Cabin was exactly what we needed to relax, unwind and recharge. It was so peaceful and quiet! The cabin is luxurious and comfortable. You've thought of everything we would need and we loved having a full kitchen at our disposal. The view from the front window is amazing. We loved being right next door to the Park and to be able to hike from the front door. Also, being able to watch the wildlife from the porch was a unique and special experience. We can't wait to come back! Thanks again.
