This was our first visit to Hawaii and Maui is a beautiful location. We stayed for seven nights.
The condo was lovely and the ocean view from the lanai was incredible. You get all the comforts of home. The infomation book is very helpful for understanding the do's & don'ts at the whaler.
A Big Thank You to Mary for attending to all of our needs.
Cons:
A round shower head that could not be tilted. You also are asked to use a squeeze to wipe down the glass doors after your shower. The light in the ceiling fan was taken out and never replaced. I personally needed more light at night for reading, but managed.

Thank you for your review. We are so happy you had a nice time on your first visit to Maui. The stationary rain shower head is not suppose to tilt and is an island favorite as it simulates the warm gentle rain showers we get every so often. Our past guests have enjoyed the shower head and we get compliments often. We only suggest a quick squeegee of the glass in the shower so that you can have a clear view of the beautiful tropical mosaic. The minerals in the water can cloud the glass and your view. The small light bulb in the Tommy Bahama fan was removed so that guests could have the fan on while sleeping as the light otherwise stays on as per the fan's design. There are two nightstand lights and also another light about 6 feet from any reading area. We are sorry this was not adequate for your reading time. Aloha and mahalo for staying with us.

My newlywed husband and I arrived in Maui the day after our wedding, and we could not have been happier with what awaited us! We immediately fell in *love* with the Whaler and our room, 515! I had actually picked out our condo from Tripadvisor months before when booking our trip, as the pictures and reviews convinced me this would be a perfect place to celebrate our honeymoon. Pictures may be worth a thousand words, but the comfort, style, attention to detail, and beauty of our accomodations were beyond words for us! We absolutely loved the Whaler and its location, the grounds were beautiful, and we loved the pool and beach access and the Whaler Shopping Village next-door. The people working at the resort were all very friendly and accomodating to us, (we loved Helen and Fred!) and we are certain to be raving about it for years to come! I definitely recommend the Whaler, and renting from John and Valene was a pleasure, as they were very easy to reach and very personable. Thank you to Tripadvisor, the Whaler, and John and Valene! My husband and I love Maui, and are working on a 10-year plan to make Maui a permanent home for us!

Perfect condominium, perfect location, perfect stay. This place was the best I have vacationed at to date. Very nice remodel with tasteful decorating - not too overdone island. The place was stocked with everything I needed and the location could not be beat. Prices were good and easy to book. I would stay here again on my next visit.

The Whaler Resort is our favorite place to stay when we go to Maui. We have been visiting the Kaanapali Beach area for years but stayed in hotel type places before this. I have to say that I was very impressed by this resort. They are in the perfect spot along the beach and in one of the best areas for the beach itself. Some of the spots down further, the beach gets a little "skinny" and the water is not as nice. The beach is perfect right at this spot and since we spend most of our time on the sand, this was a a big plus. The unit we stayed in was in number 515 and on the fifth floor. It had a beautiful view of the pond in the middle of the resort as well as of the ocean with great sunsets at night. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony as much as sitting on the beach at night. They refinished the pool and jacuzzi and it was very nice with new lounge chairs. The bed was very comfortable and we slept like babies with the door open listening to the ocean. We had all the equipment in the kitchen which was a real plus in saving $$$ by doing our own cooking. They have a bbq outside we used once. The bathroom was a real hit with this great looking fishy scene in the big shower.There was a nice television with cable and lots of dvd movies and music for us to use. They even had beach chairs which came in handy. We found it clean, modern and very well appointed. We would go back in a NY minute and plan to go again for our vacation next year. We did not know about the tennis courts and next time will bring our rackets to play. John and Valene are very nice people and offered to help us with anything we needed. I would recommend their condo to anyone.

Our stay at The Whaler was fantastic. The studio we stayed in, 315, was perfect. It was very large and super clean. It had an awesome shower with a dolphin tile and was very islandy. The towels were fluffy and lots of them which I liked since most places are stingy with the towel. We used the barbeque outside by the pool which was really nice. Everyone gathers outside and watches the sunset at night. It was great for good pictures. The sunsets are fantastic off the patio also. They had a nice high table and a lounger outside which made mornings extra relaxing. We did most of our own cooking and the kitchen is well stocked with everything we needed and nice appliances. The bed was heavenly. Super comfortable and a huge TV on the wall. The decorating was very islandy and professional. I found the owners to be very nice and they made me feel right at home. I would recommend this resort and this rental to anyone who wants a great Maui stay.
