Situated on the golden expanse of Ka'anapli Beach this resort has easy access to snorkeling, whale watching in-season and nearby shopping. A very well equipped condo unit in a luxury condo building with several pools & play areas for the kids. Duke's bar&restaurant; is a nice feature of the property, as is the gourmet shop in the adjoining building.
In close proximity to the beach & ocean and at one end of a long beachside path which extends South & goes by all the beach hotels & several restaurants, it affords a nice 1-2 hour walk/jog(depending on pace).
Service & support by the owners & resort staff was excellent. It is very close to shopping. All in all a great location. -

This unit is so modern and clean! We had an excellent stay at the HonuaKai. Jill has amazingly stocked her unit with everything for a family to enjoy. Beach chairs, umbrella, sand toys, body boards and snorkel gear. The kitchen also had all the comforts of home which made it easy for me to cook for the family. The grocery store across the street was also huge and very convenient, as well as the public bus system right next store going into Lahaina and whalers village. We all enjoyed a beautiful stay!

This condo is beautiful. Felt like home but even nicer! Everything was clean, there were actually condiments in the frig, boogie boards waiting, a couple nice beach chairs, snorkeling gear . . . way more equipped than what some of our friends rented at the same condo through a company! Would definitely go back!!!

We absolutely loved it! (1st time for Vrbo) The unit & the view were exactly what the pictures showed on the Vrbo site, so no surprises here. Jill was excellent to deal with & led us through the entire process with ease. She helped us with things far above & beyond what is required for renting someone's unit. The 1 bedroom was huge and so very spacious for me & my 2 daughters. Nice to come to a place and have it be not only be spotless but also to have amazing quality finishing. It was very well appointed, from the furnishings to the granite counters, comfy King bed, double sinks & an extra-large separate shower stall in the bathroom. All the extras like the boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrella, snorkelling gear, cooler and sand toys were a major plus. We especially loved the huge lanai with the floor to ceiling accordion doors. It was very relaxing, after spending a hectic day in the sun with the girls to kick back on the lanai and watch the sunset. It was especially nice to have the park next door as the park was very quiet but it added to the sense of green space.
We love to stay busy, from boogie boarding & snorkeling to making our way around the island for all sorts of activities. On the days when we didn't venture out we had absolutely everything right at the Honua Kai. Many pools, hot tubs and also great snorkeling at the awesome beach right in front of the hotel. The girls loved the waterslide & lazy river too. One of our favourite restaurants was the Mixed Grill in Lahaina which is very casual & also extremely reasonable. I would highly recommend renting from Jill & her husband.

We stayed at Jill and Terry's condo while in Maui for my daughter's wedding. The condo was beautiful, comfortable and convenient to everything in Lahaina. We loved the grounds and having Duke's Restaurant onsite was wonderful. Jill is very helpful and the condo was equipped with everything we needed for our 10 day stay. The layout of the condo was perfect and the kitchen was gorgeous. We plan to return to Maui again next year and will be contacting Jill to stay in this condo.

We couldn't have enjoyed our stay in Maui and Honua Kai more. The room was wonderful - in great condition with great amenities and extra's to make it feel like home. Leave your beach gear at home as the essentials are provided. There is also a detailed booklet provided by the owners on how to operate everything in the room in addition to some of the local attractions and restaurant onsite. Would definitely come back with the family again.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Honua Kai. This condo has all the amenities that you could possibly want and need for a truly relaxing vacation. The owners have definitely given much thought to making their visitors feel comfortable and at home. The Honua Kai is such a beautiful complex with several pool areas, a very short walk to the beautiful Pacific and a wonderful restaurant where you can wine and dine. Whenever the next opportunity arises to visit Maui, we wouldn't hesitate to once again book this lovely unit. Thanks, Jill and Terry, for your hospitality. It was delightful!

My husband and I were thrilled when we arrived at the Honua Kai Resort and checked into our unit. Not only is the resort gorgeous and luxurious, but this condo unit is perfectly appointed and very clean. We felt right at home, having everything we needed at our fingertips: every kitchen appliance/tool we could ever need, nice washer/dryer, comfortable king-size bed, flat-screen tvs in each room, clean and spacious bathroom with double-sinks, beach towels, snorkeling gear, beach chairs with umbrella, and a nice partial-view of the ocean from the balcony. We had absolutely no complaints the entire 10 days we spent there, and the owners even called to check on us the first day to make sure that we had everything we needed. We will definitely be looking up this condo unit again if we visit Maui in the future!

Well appointed, modern condo facing public park, with partial ocean view on quiet side of building. The resort has a variety of pools, perfect for children, with lots of lounge chairs available.
Jill and Terry are very accomodating and easy to deal with and quick to respond to any of your questions.
The Ka'anapali beach boardwalk is excellent for those who like to walk or jog and continues all the way to the Hyatt Maui Resort (approx 3.75 miles one way). En route, lots of restaurants and bars off the boardwalk and especially, the original Tiki Bar at the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel!
Honua Kai is in a good location within walking distance to shopping.
We enjoyed our 3 weeks of sun and relaxation and highly recommend this condo. -

Our vacation at this unit at the Honua Kai Resort was wonderful! The unit is on the quiet side of the resort with a good partial ocean view off the balcony as shown in the photo. It's great - clean, lovely, and very well maintained. Having the beach towels, chairs and umbrella was very useful. The resort is conveniently located near a supermarket and close enough to Lahaina that it's an easy 15 minute drive. At the edge of the resort, there's a path along the beach that stretches over 2 miles that's great for walking or running. Snorkeling off the beach was surprisingly good. We saw a lot of fish and even a turtle! We loved our stay and we'd highly recommend this resort and in particular, this unit. -

The owners of this unit were very helpful and communicative from initial contact to check out. We found the unit to be exactly as pictured and described. Very clean with amenities not always found in other units. We especially appreciated the staples such as salt/pepper and other basic spices, plus tin foil, small baggies, and plastic wrap!
We highly recommend the Honua Kai Resort and this unit in particular. The pools are fantastic and Dukes is a great place for food and entertainment, located right on the property.
Another plus is being within walking distance of the Times Market where you can find anthing will need. The quality of the products is excellent. Soup Nutz/Java Jazz is a fun spot for a meal or a great place to have a drink and listen to music, also located within walking distance.
This unit is located on the north side of the tower which is much quieter than being inside the "U". It is also shaeded most of the time, which makes sitting on the lanai looking at the ocean very pleasant.Response from Jill Oudil - 02/07/2012

Thanks so much, Great tips for the Soup Nutz/Java Jazz. A friend of mine drive a long distance to come to that restaurant also for a little music and a bite. We will have to try it out next time we are there. We also liked this side of the building. Enabled us to enjoy the Nana doors being able to be open a lot bringing the outside in & not having to shut them all the time to get the air-conditioning going. My Partner and i just finished our first visit to Hawaii. We began our trip in Maui. Jill and Terry's apartment at the Honua Kai is simply amazing. we arrived with somewhere there to meet us and tell us all about our stay. We had 7 nights of paradise. The apartment was in immaculate condition, and had everything and more in it. We were so pleased with our stay, we will definitely be booking again for our next visit.

My family stayed at this condo during the Christmas/New Year (2011/2012). We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed our stay at Honua Kai. This unit was very spacious, clean, well equipped and has a nice view (we watched a pod of Spinner Dolphins swim by from the balcony on our last day at the condo). It was great to have a full kitchen (didn't have to eat out all the time), and the washer/dryer made it easy to keep up with laundry (didn't have to bring home dirty laundry). The swimming pools/waterfalls/water slide are incredible. Duke's Restaurant is very good too (try the Calamari, Hula Pie and Lava Flow!). The parking was great too (underground parking w/elevator that takes you to the second floor just down the hall from the entrance to the unit). The snorkeling at the beach (a few hundred yards away) was really good too and it's less than a mile to Whaler's Village/Black Rock. There is a grocery store (Times) across the street and other stores/shops (I even got a haircut in that strip mall across the street). It's about a 10 minute drive to Lahaina Town. Honua Bay is about 15 minutes away (great snorkeling and surfing). If you're staying in the Ka'anapali area I highly recommend this condo in Honua Kai!

My wife and I were so impressed with how Terry and Jill handled the whole Vrbo experience. This was our first time going through Vrbo and staying in Kaanapali. We are thankful that we chose Terry and Jill's unit as they made the whole experience stress free and went above & beyond with explaining the area to us, where the best restaurants, beaches, etc were.
When we arrived at the Honua Kai we were blown away by how beautiful this resort really is. It lived up to its pictures and wonderful descriptions.
We have stayed at the Four Seasons & many other top rated resorts but this unit is right up there with the best of the best. It was extremely comfortable, elegant and efficient in its layout. The bathroom is to die for, the bedroom is spacious & inviting with a king size bed that you won't want to get out of, the living room is furnished in a modern yet cozy style, the kitchen is right out of a magazine with bosch appliances & lots of counter space. In addition, the lanai is large enough to have 8 people eating at the patio table & it all opens up to bring the outside in which is such a cool feature!
Here is where this unit really shines:
This unit, being 780 sqft, was extremely spacious which we realized was sooo important when you have a 5 mo. old baby. The view is relaxing with a partial view of the ocean and a park area which gives you privacy (I can't tell you how great it is to walk around your unit and not feel that people are watching you). There is 3 quality boogie boards for adults (not the cheap boogie boards that a 5 yr old could break), 2 beach chairs, a plastic cooler with wheels which I used everyday.
Being on the 2nd flr made it quick & easy to get to our unit when bringing our 5 mo. old for a nap or just getting an item we forgot to bring to the pool.
Overall my experience dealing with Terry & Jill was first class. I will be staying at this unit again as I loved the Kaanapali area & the Honua Kai Resort. -

From the beginning, Jill (the owner) was friendly, easy to contact, and quick to answer questions/concerns. When we arrived at the condo, there was a person waiting and ready to let us into the room...early at that! The condo was modern with updated furniture and appliances, clean, and full of all the necessities to feel at home (cookware, wireless printer, a comfortable bed). There were also extras like beach chairs and towels, body boards, snorkeling gear, and a cooler which made beach or snorkeling trips so much better.
As for the resort, it has many amenities: three major pools, a lazy river, multiple hot tubs, fitness rooms, and a nice restaurant on-site (Duke's). The location is within walking distance of Black Rock and Whaler's Village or a short drive to a grocery store or all the shops/restaurants in Lahaina.
Overall, it was a great place to stay and we loved every minute of our vacation. Hopefully we can make it back soon!
