Description from the owner

Located on two acres of gorgeous gardens and Ohia forest we are only 10 minutes away from Keahole airport and Kona town. If it is peace and serenity you seek then this is the destination for you. You will find the cooler climate of the Kaloko Mauka area to be a welcome relief to the heat of the lower elevations. Surrounded by giant tree ferns, wild ginger, and passion fruit this is the vacation getaway of your dreams. The nighttime sky is filled with thousands of stars......Nighttime noises are of crickets and the occasional lowing of cows in the distance from nearby Palani Ranch.

You will be pampered at the Lilikoi Vine with the ble...Read more

      A Tranquil Retreat in Paradise

Left on 01/08/2012 for a stay in February 2011

My husband and I have stayed at Lilikoi Vine several times, and we have come to feel like it is our Big Island home away from home. In fact, our first stay was in 2003 in the Paniolo Room, for our honeymoon. This time, we had our daughter with us, and we were happy to find that a second unit had been added, so all of us could be comfortably accommodated. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming, and happily gave us suggestions and directions when needed.

Both the downstairs Paniolo Room and the upstairs I'iwi's Nest were spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated, showcasing our host's artistic flair. There was a tropical flower arrangement on the table, and a basket of apple bananas and papayas in the kitchen. We were further welcomed with banana bread, juice, coffee and tea for our first morning's breakfast. The kitchens in both units were equipped with cooking utensils so we could prepare simple dinners when we were too tired (or too relaxed) to go out.

We especially enjoyed sitting on the private deck in the mornings with a cup of tea, listening to the waterfall and watching the colorful birds visiting the feeder. In the evenings, we relaxed in the hot tub, listened to the birds, and enjoyed the fragrance of the flowers in the surrounding garden.

The beds were amazing! I have never slept more soundly or comfortably. The peace and quiet of the area is very soothing, and since Lilikoi Vine is located on the slopes of Hualalai at a higher altitude, the days are pleasantly warm, but the nights are cool enough for comfortable sleeping.

Although Lilikoi Vine is located "up mauka," away from Kailua Town, it is still very convenient to beaches, shopping and historic sites, with the benefit of being a peaceful retreat to return to after a busy day. We loved staying there, and we wouldn't stay anywhere else when we're visiting the Kona side of the island! We look forward to returning!

Cozy Sanctuary Nestled High above Paradise

Left on 09/15/2011 for a stay in July 2011

My wife and I honeymooned for a week and a half at the Lilikoi Vine in the Paniolo Room. We were entirely prepared to content ourselves with a few windows displaying some Hawaiian flora, some privacy, and a place to stow our gear.

We had no idea how richly welcomed we were about to be by the "Aloha spirit." Awoken by tropical birdsongs every morning, and picking fresh bananas from the very eaves of our own porch, my wife and I spent many more hours then we expected just staying at our home away from home, sitting by the koi pond gazing up at the stars.

Indoors, antiques and artifacts from a very unique chapter (I won't spoil exactly which) of Hawaiian history blend into such thematic consistency that immerses guests into another age and lifetime. Even the books on the bookshelf fit the atmosphere, so carefully was every detail hand-picked.

The space, indoors and out, is clean, bright, functional, and cozy. But rather than ever feeling contrived, my wife and I felt that exhilaration of living along the edge of that wild, untamed Hawaiian jungle, with all the sights and sounds of paradise.

      Delightful Lilikoi Vine Guest House

Left on 09/13/2011 for a stay in September 2011

We had the most wonderful stay here. The guest house is in a beautiful zen garden and we would wake up to the sounds of birds and bubbling pond waterfall. The jacuzzi in adjoining garden was great, especially after one of Nicole's amazing lomi lomi massages. The guest house was charming and romantic and we loved all the decorative special touches as well as the comfy bed and great little kitchen area. It was a wonderful place to stay celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and a great location to explore the island. Sheryl and Kim Ptak

Wonderful Location on the Cooler Mountain Overlooking Kona Coast

Left on 08/11/2011 for a stay in July 2011

It was a delight staying at this location. The owners could not have been friendlier or more helpful and provided us with a nice amount of "insider" information for the Kona Coast in our room helping us make decisions for our adventures. It was nice being up above and out of the more touristy locations on the Kona Coast but still being near by. Temperatures were a delightful 70's during the day and upper 50's at night which was wonderful for sleeping. Accommodations were tasteful, clean and roomy with lots of delightful little touches including a water fall and gardens outside our back window.
