This was our fourth stay in this condo at the Sea Village. This time the pleasant surprise was all new cabinets and counters. Now it is more than perfect. The unit is beautiful and clean. The view is stellar with whales and dolphins going buy and the place is so close to the ocean we can watch the bright yellow fish from the deck. Location is great - 15 min. walk to town and 30 minutes the other way to great swimming beach. We do most of our swimming and snorkeling right in front of the unit. Already planning our return.

It is a great location with a wonderful view which offered both access to Kona and relaxing time in the condo.
Great Location . . . but ...

Sea Village If you want the ocean is "unbeatable" but you have to watch which Unit . . . Example our unit sleeps 6 persons . . . no way ! 1 Good Bed, 1 passable bed, and an old uncomfortable sofa bed . . . rusty frame, very old poor mattress, with a foamy on it with plastic liner . . good if you are incontinent , but hot and uncomfortable for most adults. The lanai has a fabulous view, chairs tor 2 only . . . 6 person's simply have not been provided for despite " accommodates 6 " moniker !
When we arrived 3 of the 4 windows did not work, two were boarded up ... ventilation the main sliding door and 1 crankable window !
What is worse . . . no notice or comment from Sunquest ( poor ? )
We were there for almost a month . . . this is the 2+ time for trouble, perhaps the age of the building is showing, lack of interest / involvement by "rental agency" combined, has made us now " search for an alternative " , and the Sea Village has been our choice since 1981 !
The grounds are well maintained, BBQ area is perfect, the ocean whales dolphins are fantastic! Good pool and close to town. But . . . Read more
Aloha and thank you for your review.
The condo does sleep six people but please understand that if you place six adults in the condo, it will not work. Up to six is listed to accommodate a larger family with children who could sleep on the sofa sleeper. Rust is a problem for any metal surface in an ocean front unit, but we try our best to keep on top of it. The plastic liners you were referring to are acutally on almost every bed that SunQuest manages, and they are there to deter mites and bed bugs.
On the issue of the lanai furniture, lounge chairs were placed on the lanai in addition to a small table and two bar height chairs. Many guests enjoy the lounge chairs to watch the activity in Kailua Bay, and since there is plenty of seating inside for all meals, it seemed like a nice compromise based on the wishes of the majority of the guests.
The in-operable window has been replaced, as has all the hardware on all of the windows. The window fell off due to corrosion, and it took a full four months to get the correct window and all new hardware shipped from the mainland. We are very sorry for the inconvenience.
Thank you again for your comments and for joining us on the Big Island.

We had a wonderful time staying at the Sea Village. The views were spectacular!!! The condo was really nicely furnished and we enjoyed our stay very much. The process of "booking the condo" was really easy and no problems whatsoever.

Convenient location to visit the Big Island of Hawaii

Overall, condo 4313 at Sea Village was good. Good location, no parking problems, good view, decent value for the money. The toilet in the hall bathroom needs work. The chain was too long and it got under the ball valve preventing the toilet from filling. So, each time it was used, we had to lift the lid and pull the chain out from under the rubber closure. The other bathroom had a similar problem, but not as bad. When tropical storm Flossie reached the east side of the island, we had an inversion which blew debris from the vent system above the shower in the hall bathroom onto the floor, which we cleaned up. The same problem was seen in the other bathroom, but less debris came out. The venting system needs cleaning. The kitchen was fine.
I slept in the master bedroom closest to the window, which was open at night. The resort next door, just south of us on alii ave had a round table below our window. On several mornings, smokers would come out as early as 6:20 am to about 7:30 am and sit there smoking for an hour or more. Several were on their cell phones and were speaking loud enough to wake me up. Who they would be speaking to at ~6:30 am is beyond me. This was a bit annoying, but is not a fault of our condo. In general, Condo complex 4 was quiet, although on one day, we heard a screaming match just below us.
The pool was nice. We did not use the barbecues.
Hawaii is a lovely place to visit for a vacation. There are two beaches just south of us, but the best beaches are along the Kohala Coast. We did a Blue Hawaii helicopter ride which was very interesting, as was the submarine ride. Volcano National Park is great and the Botanical Garden is superb! There are many nice restaurants on the island. A great vacation!
Great oceanfront view from lanai

We loved this condo. The oceanfront view from the lanai was perfect. We also liked that this condo was close to town (about 1.5 miles) so we were able to walk in to shop, have lunch, etc. but it was still close to the beach, about 2 miles from Magic Sands Beach.
The only negative is that both bedroom windows face the barbecue area of another complex so it would sometimes disturb us in the late evening, but we tend to go to bed early. After around 10:00pm, it wasn't a problem.
Great location, beautiful view from lanai - terrible property ma

This home was lovely inside, comfortable and had a awesome view from lanai. However the bedrooms are facing the parking lot which was disappointing. Especially since there was construction work going on all day, everyday. It was horrible. When visiting Hawaii you want to do things early in the morning before its hot and crowded. You want to nap in the afternoon and get rested to go back out in the evening. We could not do that with all the work noise. Wish the property mgmt would have warned us. Also the floors were filthy upon arriving and garbage from previous guest. The water also was turned off several times with no warning and we could not shower or wash hands etc. We tried to speak with management, with no real help. They kept saying they would look into it and at one point said they would compensate but never called us back even after leavening several messages. So nice home, but since the management is terrible, we wouldn't stay again. :-(

Well stocked condo, great location, clean. My husband and two children were very happy with our stay at this condo, lots of room. While you were sitting on the couch is felt like you were on a boat because the ocean is right there! Only negative, the shade mount in the master bedroom was broken so no shade but we didn't mention it. Needs to be fixed for privacy and night window light. We will definitely consider this place next time we are in Kona.

We were very happy with this condo. The location is superb - close to restaurants and activities. And is has a great view of the ocean. Yes - we saw dolphins as well as whales in the distance. Fun to watch the parasailers, too! The pool area is great, as is the grilling area for the residents. Met some really nice people. The condo was great. We really enjoyed the deck. A few more bugs (small cockroaches) than we'd like to see (tho' we understand they exist and can't be totally eliminated. Perhaps a bit more spraying needed?) Overall - we will definitely consider a return to this condo!

This is a nice, quiet condo with an incredible view. The location is perfect, close to town, but tucked away from alii Drive. We left the windows open every night and heard nothing but the ocean. During our stay we saw dolphins and whales from the lanai!
The unit is equipped with coolers and beach gear. The kitchen is updated and well-equipped and the bathrooms have been nicely updated. On the other hand the bedroom furnishings seem a bit tired and the closet space is very limited.
We have traveled to Kona many times and stayed at more luxurious condos, but none could beat this view. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay and plan to return to this unit in the future. The value for the money can't be beat!

This condo was in a perfect location - close enough to walk downtown - yet far enough away to be quiet in the evening so you could hear the waves roll in. This was one of the most relaxing vacations I have ever had. The condo was very accomodating and the snorkeling gear was very usefull.
I would highly recommend this location to anyone. I took so many beautiful photographs just from the lanai.

We stayed her from 02-26-12 thru 12-29-12 and had an incredible time. No dolphins while we here but we could watch the yellow tangs swimming around below us. I would definitely stay here again next time we're on the Big Island.

All was great, the only recommendation is the patio furniture needs to seat 4 people we eat all meals out there and there was 4 of us!!! Directions for late arrival very confusing, if you don't know the area you can't understand why you are going way past Kona center and that the 2 highways you refer to are the same road just changing names.

perfect location, nice condo setup, loved having a washer / dry units, quite neighbors, nice pool and hot tub, Did not like the check in - having to go across town to get the key was confusing not knowing the roads. Rental office location is hard to get to do to the traffic light.

We had an excellent time. The Condo had everything we could possibly need and more. It was located so close to everything in Kona that we didn't feel like we spent the entire trip in the car. Lots of great restraunts and activities nearby and located close to the major highways for road trips. We will definately consider staying again if we visit Big Island in the future.
Relaxing and Comfortable

The view was amazing and we were able to see dolphins almost daily if we were around. The beds were all comfortable, even the pull-out that my 5yr old had to try. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed for cooking our meals. My son and I loved the pool -which we enjoyed at least once everyday. I added to the collection of water toys buying 4 noodles. Snorkeling at Turtle Beach by the Outrigger was the best snorkeling by far. Service was excellent with communication and response, picking up/dropping off keys was hassle free.
Our stay was 12 days and wish it could have been longer-- we sure had enough groceries to do it.
The stay in Kona at the condo was amzing

Wonderful ocean & sunset views!

We stayed here for 5 nights and it was wonderful. The ocean views are amazing (you're practically right on top of the water)and the lanai is positioned so that you have a perfect view of the sunset- no need to leave the condo to race for the sunset. Kitchen is well stocked with all the basics. There are other little touches too- boogie boards, snorkle equipment, beach towels & chairs, coolers. Beds are comfortable and so are the pillows! Washer & dryer in unit was so helpful with young children. Sea Village has a nice pool and hot tub next to the ocean. Weber grills are clean and lit on the 1st try. You can't hear the street noise, but the birds are noisy in the morning. We will be back!
