PoulsboLike being home in paradise
Left on 04/20/2013 for a stay in April 2013
The condo is much more lovely and larger than an internet picture can show. Easy access to many area attractions but in such a lovely and quiet area that lends to R&R; but just down the road from all the action. Better equipped than most vacation rentals, in fact it felt like our own luxury home. I could choose from a restful nights sleep in the king sized sleep number bed or a lazy nap in a large reclining chair the size of a full bed on one of the two decks. The soft clean water of the Island is so enjoyable from the luxury tiled shower in the large master bath. You could cook anything in the kitchen, in fact it was big enough for our who party to make a luau sized meal to eat on one deck looking over the golf course with peek a boo views of the ocean. Walk the grounds to the water- too rough to swim in but good for foot dipping and a stroll along the shore. All 3 pools of the property are enjoyable but with so many beaches nearby you may or may not need them. We stayed in april with no air conditioning, the vented windows and ceiling fan were cooling enough. We even had a welcome basket that greeted us.

This was our second trip to Kona and first time staying at a condo. What a wonderful experience! Your condo just echoed "Aloha" from the welcoming fruit basket to the oh-so comfortable furniture! Thank you for all the amenities you provided, all we had to buy were groceries! Thank you for the little suggestive notes we found around the condo that were so helpful. We had a wonderfully relaxing time at your place and will be sure to come back again. Mahalo.

Cayce SCBest Vacation Spot on the Big Island
Left on 11/03/2012 for a stay in October 2012
This was our 8th trip to Hawaii (we have logged more than 3000 miles driving on the Big Island alone) and a 30th wedding anniversary trip. Firstly, let me highly recommend aloha Condo's website for your use (and I have no association with this group). Far and away the best selection and reasonable costs for these units. On the Big Island, I would suggest that unit #203 is one of the nicest locations on a golf course and near pretty much everything.
The new owner's made sure we knew everything we needed, kept us informed and had a wonderful fruit basket waiting the day of arrival, no hassles, no fuss, very easy.
You can walk easily to a nearby pool, the ocean and great views (but no ready access to the water and not the place you want to enter anyway). #203 is a large condo with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, great master bed (very nice quality), has all the features you need from full washer/dryer, great kitchen with plenty of supplies, two lanai's, and air conditioning (and Yes- AC is needed during the summer and fall when the "trades" are down).
The location at Kanaloa at Kona is close to everything, but far enough away from some of the more congested area's to make your trip enjoyable. Near dock for snorkeling/dive trips (just a few minutes away), close to Place of Refuge (for sunsets & Hawaiian history), Volcanoe's (a long days trip), the State Park on ali drive (good for beginning snorkeler's). Good restaurant's in the nearby vicinity (I recommend Teshima's about 20 minutes away for a local asian flavor).
On a scale of 10 (and you really have to pay a lot more for a 10), I would say this is a solid 8, with a qualification that using aloha Condo's site is the way to go, I've had less satisfaction renting directly from the resort itself (with higher costs). Plus the Kanaloa folks seem to be more interested in renting the units, than the comfort of the guests.
Aloha from the big Island! And I'm already planning my next trip back to #203...thanks Kurt & Bonnie! -

Left on 04/10/2012 for a stay in April 2012
Arriving at the resort feels like arriving at a pocket of paradise...warm greeting at the gate, going through to lush landscaping (more hibiscus flowers than I've ever seen before), and all to the sound of birdsong. Walk in to a gorgeous welcome tropical fruit basket, and you know that it couldn't get much better!
This unit has an embracing view of the rolling greens of the golf course - the lanai is just so inviting. Inside, the unit is set up for every comfort for the family. It's very relaxed decor/finish etc was just right for a relaxing family holiday (not for 5 star marble seekers). The unit is only a very short distance from the tennis court and 2 of the resorts pools; a short walk further takes you to the gorgeous ocean-front pool and lava coastline. loved it. Would go back tomorrow. -

This is the best condo in the best location on the Island. This was our third stay in Konaloa 203. The furnishings and amenities are supurb. Jim thinks of everything you might need for your stay and then supplies it, from pillows to potato peeler. Our most recent 3 week stay was absolutely fabulous.

Left on 01/05/2012 for a stay in December 2011
We have rented other condos in the past, and this was by far the best equipped condo. It has everything from spices to zip lock bags, detergent to shampoo/conditioner - we really appreciated not having to go to the store for anything besides food!
Kanaloa is one of our favorite condo resorts. This unit was very peaceful, right on the golf course with a lot of greenery all around. It was also quite a bit detached from the other condos so we were not overlooking anyone else which was very nice. -

#203 at Kanaloa was a perfect experience. it is just as the photos beheld, plus! There was just about everything one could want. The laundry, kitchen and bathrooms were
completely equipped, it was like home. Forgot sunscreen, there's some left under the sink, oh, need a plastic drink cup for the pool, bottom cabinets, how about a cocktail shaker for mojitos...yep! The beds are fabulous, the living/dining area is spacious and ample. Love the place and look forward to returning. Aloha! -

We have stayed at the Kanaloa at Kona five times, each time in a different condo. 203 is the best value! You cannot see the ocean, but you do look out over the lush green golf course. Condo have everything you need, clean, well furnished, quiet location. We needed a late checkout and we were able to stay in the condo till 3PM (as no one was coming in the day we checked out.)

This condo was by far my best experience with renting on the big island. It is so beautiful overlooking the golf course. And yes, we all agreed, the beds were dreamy. Entering a home atmosphere and feeling right at home and comfortable was a joy. All of our needs and wants were met. The owner was professional regarding the "paperwork" part. We all felt like we should respect the condo just like it were our home. It is not a dump, it is a palace, so we treated it like a palace, with respect. We hope to return to Kona and 203. Thank you for everything.

We loved Condo 203. The unit as very clean and was fully equipped with all the necessities as well as extras such as beach mats, snorkels, and beach chairs which helped us enjoy the local hotspots. The beds were extremely comfortable and the binder with the area information was very helpful. A fabulous spot for our Ironman vacation.

Left on 08/08/2011 for a stay in July 2011
This was our first trip to Kona as a family (2 adults/4 children under age 13) and we are so thankful to have found Jim's condo at Kanaloa!
The check-in process was easy and the the condo was very clean! It was rather hot inside so once we turned the a/c on, it was a short time for it to cool down. The condo stayed cool and comfortable every day after that.
We loved the space of the condo with a large livingroom and diningroom that faces the quiet golf course, and the master bedroom has a large dressing room where we could hang clothes and stow our luggage.
The condo had everything that we could possibly need for 7 days! The kitchen had all the cookware and appliances, there were boogie boards and snorkel gear, puzzles and games (we put both puzzles together, which was fun!), and the beds were Sooo comfortable.
The property was quiet, not loud or busy like some hotels or resorts (maybe because we were there in July/first of august), and the staff were nice and kept the property spotless.
Our kids loved watching the geckos climbing the exterior walls, and we actually found two inside the condo (even with the doors and windows always closed). Since geckos in the home are considered good luck, we were happy to have them inside!
We used the snorkel gear at the Kahalu'u Beach just down the road and had the most amazing time seeing tropical fish!! We bought a cheap underwater camera to take lots of pictures of fish and turtles.
Believe us when we say that this condo is completely worth staying at! You don't need to spend hundreds of dollars at some other properties to have comfort and relaxation, especially if you're out on adventures most of the day.
Thank you, Jim!!

Condo 203 at Kanaloa at Kona is the perfect setting for a magical trip. Everything you may need has been considered and provided. The beds are so comfortable that I plan to buy one for myself. You need only bring reef friendly sun block and appropriate beach wear.
The Kanaloa at Kona resort is a lush tropical paradise. It is meticulously maintained and spotlessly clean. If you are looking for a lush tropical location in a serene setting, look no further.

Condo 203 is the cream of the crop! We stayed in this venue for three weeks and couldn't have asked for better accommodations while on the big island. No detail is omitted...even down to clothes soap, cooking utensils/appliances, snorkeling supplies, etc. It's close enough to town and markets, yet tucked away in a beautifully landscaped hideaway. All three pools were lovely and being able to hear the nearby waves crash added the greatest ambiance. We loved it!

The Condo at Kanaloa at Kona was a lot better then we expected, especially for the price. Very spacious 2 bedroom with private deck connected to master suite, and another large deck fronting golf course was great in the evenings.
My wife especially enjoyed the 3 pools. The one by the ocean was great, but we preferred the pool next to the activity room where we took full advantage of the ping pong table.
Very close to the harbor for snorkel tours and 15 minutes out of downtown Kona if you're into the touristy thing. -

Shingle Springs, CAexceeding expectations!
Left on 09/05/2010 for a stay in August 2010
Our stay at Kanaloa condo 203 exceeded our expectations for our 30 year reunion. From our entry when we found someone had anticipated our arrival and left Hawaiian music, soft lighting, and some air conditioning on to greet us, to our departure, we remained delightfully surprised. Jim seemed to have anticipated our every need; from a cooler and ice packs we used when grocery shopping at Costco, to snorkel equipment, beach chairs and towels, detergent for the laundry, toiletries for the bathroom, a high speed internet connection, any cooking utensil we found a need for, a Hawaiian cookbook with simple recipes, and incredibly comfortable Tempurpedic style mattresses. We loved the Indonesian style daybed on what we dubbed the "sleeping porch!" The condo was spotlessly clean. The grounds are immaculately well-kept and the ocean-side pool was great! Had we had the time and inclination, we could have used the tennis courts for 12 hours a day. The proximity to a grocery store saved us money when we felt like kicking back and relaxing at home rather than heading out to a restaurant. For all of the reasons listed,we liked this condo better than the second one we rented in Waikoloa in fact. Besides the aforementioned attention to detail , we realized that what made it feel particularly special and "home" was the proliferation of Hawaiian artwork we made a point of admiring. Thanks Jim!

I reserved unit #203 at Kanaloa at Kona through aloha Condos. Our 8-day stay was outstanding in all aspects.
Booking and instructions: Booking was efficient and our queries were answered promptly. Instructions to access the resort and the unit were crystal-clear and it was easy to find the condo even after dark.
The condo: Everything there is arranged to make your stay easy, comfortable and, enjoyable. The unit is perfectly clean and highly functional. The fact that beach equipment was provided and the welcome fruit basket are nice touches that the whole family appreciated. The unit is beautifully decorated and one can see its owner takes great care of it. Books, DVD, and a wealth of touristic information were other aspects we enjoyed. The kitchen is fully equipped and everything was in perfect working order. After long days touring the Big Island, it was great to have peaceful and pleasant dinners at the condo. We also all loved having breakfast on the lanai.
Kanaloa at Kona: Grounds are extremely well kept and pretty with all those flowers. We enjoyed the pools and the fact we could use the barbecues. Walking along the shore was another pleasure we had at Kanaloa.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would not hesitate one second to stay there again. We travel a lot and have rented condos and houses in many locations in Europe and the USa. This was definitely one of our best if not our best rental experiences.

I would recommend staying here. From the guest book entries I saw, many others shared this view. We'll be back, and thanks. It was like staying at somehwhere that much thought had been put into making if comfortble and pleasing.

Everyone should book through aloha Condos rather than going through the Resort. We had a baseball tournament and we were one of the few that didn't book through the Resort. Check in was so simple. We got there the same time as the other families and we had already settled in our condo, and they were still in the process of checking in. The condo is exactly like how you see it on the website. Beautiful and very spacious. We highly recommend this condo and would stay there again!!! 2 thumbs up!!!

This is our eighth consecutive year visiting the Big Island and our fifth stay at Kanaloa. This condo is by far one of the superior rentals that we have stayed in in this complex. The condo was not only clean and homey, but during the tsunamia warning the owners personally called us to offer their advise and assistance. The only thing we missed was the small refrigerator on the lanai, we like our beverages nearby in our evening relaxation period. We would highly recommend this unit and hope to aquire it again next year.

We stayed here for two weeks, the first time in this condo but a return visit to Kanaloa. The complex is away from the bustle of Kailua but handy to a shopping centre that has a lot of amenities.
The condo is very comfortable and well maintained. There are a lot of nice touches that you often don't find in a condo, like toiletries. The kitchen is well stocked to get you started if you want to cook. Both the lanais are equipped with comfy furniture and perfect for relaxing o dining outside.
Our only complaint was having to pay for cleaning twice in two weeks - and the cleaning fees are high. Other than that we would definitely recommend this condo. -

We found our condo to be very good. It was very well organised and clean with Hawaiian furnishings and decor.
I loved sitting on the sun lounger in the morning and looking at all the beautiful flowers and the tropical birds. I have never slept so well. It was very peaceful. Kona is a great location. 15 mins form airport. The amenities were very good I liked the fact it has a mail box in the main office. The owner of the condo left very good details about where you can find everything. The kitchen and bathrooms of the condo could be updated but I found them to be adequate.

We love the location that is central to one of the best beaches for snorkeling and close to the marina we visited to catch our boat for our scuba outings. The resort is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy. The condo itself is beautifully decorated, and had all the comforts or home, plus more. It was so nice to have beach towels, snorkeling gear, boggy board, and ice chest available for our outings. To top things off we even received a welcome basket full of treats. What an amazing vacation we had! We can't wait to return.

Left on 08/05/2009 for a stay in July 2009
Although we live on the east side of the Big Island we really enjoyed our staycation. The condo was spacious, clean and welcoming. All the attention to detail truly made it a "Tropical Retreat". It was close to everything but still quiet and secluded. Everything was well maintained. We won't hesitate to come again or recommend to friends and relatives.

What a wonderful place Kanaloa is! We've stayed there 5 or 6 times now. And this time was no disappointment.
Of all the condos we've visited, #203 was the best organized. All the closets were clearly labelled. There were detailed instruction books on the desk. And there were plenty of supplies. We therefore had a care-free stay.
We were delightfully surprised to find a gift basket from the owner at the door.
We're looking forward to return next year, and we will definitely book through Aloha Condos (rather than with the on-site organization). -

This condo is in a great location in the Kailua area. We enjoyed eating meals on the spacious and well-appointed lanai. The condo is well-suited for a couple with young children; it would be crowded for a couple with two teenagers. Although not on the ocean, the view across the fairways of the golf course are fine and relaxing. My only less than stellar statement is that the kitchen and baths have not been updated, so these areas of the condo feel old and tired.

Jim's unit at Kanaloa is amazing! We stayed before and had a certain expectation,
which was exceeded with his unit at Kanaloa at Kona. Our oldest
was
with us this time, and every other sentence was, "He just
provides
that?!", "You don't need to bring anything."
The condo is really well
put together, beautiful decorations, and
every amenity you could think
of, and some more you didn't. The
second floor unit has great vaulted
ceilings and tons of room (wait
till you see the huge walk-in closet
in the master). Eating breakfast
on the lanai was a ritual, followed
by walking the grounds of the
well-kept resort.
We will definitely
be coming back, what a bargain at the price!
Thanks Jim. -

We often travel as a family. It's always a challenge for us to find accommodation for 5, parents and 3 teenagers. Thus, when I could luckily reach the owner by phone, I felt very good about him as he was very kind and sincere to answer my questions and offer suggestions. He was very professionally communicative throughout our Hawaiian holiday. The location was away from the busy highway and was very quiet, yet very close to shopping and dinning. I believe that the owner vacations in the property when not renting. The place was more than we expected. It was just like being at one's elegantly, tastefully and beautifully decorated home with a large family kitchen, cozy living room, spacious dinning room as well as full cleaning and laundry amenities the family needs. The location of the condo was away from a busy pool, facing the vast green field. It was always quiet to fall asleep with windows open. We stayed at another private 2-bedroom condo in Maui and Oahu on this trip. If he had had the accommodation for 5 of us on these Islands, I would have chosen to stay at his property definitely. His place has been a big part of our good memories of our trip to the Big Island of Hawaii.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed your lovely immaculate condo during our stay to attend a family reunion. Kona is my hometown and Hawaii will always be "home" for us. We were impressed with the fully stocked kitchen and bath facilities, equipped with all the conveniences for a comfortable stay. The Hawaiian decor was also very tastefully done which made us feel very much at home away from home. We would definitely highly recommend your condo to anyone, and know they will not be disappointed in any way. Aloha, and Mahalo.

We stayed in this wonderfully furnished and equipped condo with our two grown children. We've traveled to Hawaii many times and stayed in many places. This is by far our favorite Condo of those we've stayed in and nicer by far than even some of the high end resorts. The kitchen is well equipped and we enjoyed cooking when we didn't feel like dining out. The condo was roomy and the balcony overlooks the golf course. We are not golfers but enjoyed the ambience. The pool area and grounds are very nice also. I recommend this condo without reservation.

We found out about this condo on Trip Advisor and all the comments were exact. This condo is very clean, very large, quiet and welcoming. We had everything we needed and more. The complex is also beautiful and the area of Kona great ! We enjoyed the quietness, the view on the golf course, the sound of the birds every morning. We had to switch condos after a week because this condo was previously booked so our second week at Kanaloa was nice but we missed this condo in particular very much. I would not go back to another one in Kona. The ownwer is extremely nice. Thanks for the great memories and we wish we can go back one day !

Our family stayed at Kanaloa at Kona #203 several years ago. It was our 3rd trip to the Big Island in 5 years, and our first stay at
unit #203. By far, unit #203 was the nicest unit we stayed at. It was the most spacious, quietest, and most beautifully furnished. The unit is located on the edge of the golf course, and is situated away from the parking lot, so it is especially quiet. The very large living room looks out to the golf course. The furnishings are not only high quality, but tastefully done in a "tropical" theme, adding to the island experience. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the two bedrooms are very spacious. We stayed at a different unit at Kanaloa at Kona the prior year, but this unit was much nicer (and larger). I would highly recommend this condo for a vacation rental on the Big Island and would absolutely stay again in this unit. -

We were very impressed with the owner's efforts to make this condo a welcoming and relaxing place to stay. The attention to detail is very evident - soap supplied for the dishwasher (rather than having to buy a whole box for just a week's stay), waterproof pads for the mattress (we have 2 young kids), detailed information on where to eat and what to do locally, beach toys for the kids, a welcoming gift basket including Kona coffee, all the appliances and dishes one could ever need, and the list goes on and on. I really appreciate it when someone 'gets it,' and Jim clearly does. The condo was a very welcoming and quiet place to come home to after a busy day. We are so glad we didn't stay a little farther north towards busy Kailua-Kona. All this at quite a reasonable price too. Should we return to the west side of the Big Island someday, the decision on where to stay will be a no-brainer!

This is the fourth time that we have stayed in KAK 203, and it will not be the last. We continue to return year after year for several reasons: the peaceful lanai on the golf course; the excellent location; the fabulous kitchen; the top-end outdoor barbeque; and the memories that come from staying in this perfect home. If I could move into 203 permanently, I would! We are already looking forward to returning!

We especially enjoyed the matresses, relaxing on the lanais, spacious rooms, and thank you for the chocolate and coffee welcome gift! It was paradise - we hope to return soon and highly recommend this unit.

We had a wonderful week stay @ the Kanaloa in Kona in condo #203. It was very spacious for just the 2 of us and very clean. There are swimming pools each w/jacuzzis and BBQs on the
grounds if one day you don't wish to eat out.
It was a fun time for us; I will always remember the friendly people we met, all the excellent restaurants (look around a little & you'll find some great prices)and the bright vivid colors you can only find on the islands. Take it all in while you're there and enjoy every minute of it ! -

The unit was absolutely perfect for us and in "like new" condition with not a single scuff or mark anywhere. It looked like something you would see in a decorating magazine and nothing like the "no personality" rentals that are so common. Small touches everywhere made it feel like a beautiful friend's home. The view of the golf course was fun as we sat and had breakfast well making rude comments (quietly to each other) about some of the golfers lack of talent on the links! We would return in a heartbeat!!

Left on 04/04/2009 for a stay in March 2009
We just spent a wonderful week at the Kanaloa at Kona. This was our third time stay at this condo.
We think this location is ideal at Big Island especially at Kona side, not so far from center of Kona but quiet. Easy access to southern beautiful snorkeling points such as Kealakekua bay or Puuhouna O Hanaunau park where we could meet dolphins.
The room was clean and all necessary things were there for cooking. Shopping center is in walking distance.
There are three pools at this condo and two tennis courts, both we could use free.
We'd definitely recommend this condo at Kona. We really enjoyed our vacation there.

We spent 5 nights at this condo, and this was our second visit. We love this condo and the complex. The condo is very quiet and private, with an awesome view of the fairway off one of the lanais where you can watch birds and geckos in the morning while having coffee. It's spacious, nicely decorated, and well equipped with all the luxuries of home. The complex has pools, tennis courts, and gas grills. There is a walking path along the shoreline where you can watch the sunset. Upon arrival, Jim provides a very nice gift basket with assorted fresh fruits and goodies. We highly recommend this condo. The first we rented it we were pleasantly surprised to find that it was much nicer than the pictures online.

The unit is just splendidly outfitted. Everything you may think you could need is there. Even questions that arise due to "operator error" are answered promptly and fixes provided. There are not enough superlatives in our vocabulary adequately describe our stay in Jim's condo. It made for a truly perfect vacation. Mahalo

We have stayed at this beautiful property twice now. It is very comfortable with with 2 bedrooms and a huge sofa in the living room (if necessary). It is beautifully decorated, cleaner than you can imagine and all of the household items you would ever need. We have always felt safe and secure while staying here. The neighbors are friendly, the grounds immaculate and the fairway view is unbeatable. We will go back again and again. The Big Island is our favorite, with such variety of scenery and things to do. Jim is a pleasure to do business with, very knowledgeable about the island, things to do, places to eat etc. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a luxury property at a reasonable price.
