Description from the manager

Condo 1203 at the Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club Resort is as close as you can get to the ocean on the Big Island of Hawaii. The condo section of the Keauhou Kona Surf and Racquet Club Resort was built when the construction permits didn't require resorts to be set back from the ocean as they are today.

This condo is conveniently located near shopping center, snorkel beach and highway. We have stayed in this complex several times but this unit met our needs the best. The owner was very caring and helped make our stay uncomplicated and easy. The condo is nicely furnished which includes beach chairs and towels. We plan to stay here again in the near future.

A Pleasant, Quiet, Comfortable Place to Be

Left on 03/26/2013 for a stay in March 2013

One never knows quite what to expect away from "home". This condo met everything within our comfort zone. It was clean and well kept. We appreciated the open floor plan yet private bedrooms/bathrooms for each couple. Our bed was more than comfortable. The kitchen had plenty of room for everyone to fix for themselves. It was well equipped yet not cluttered with lots of counter space. The windows brought in natural light with the outdoors. We were amazed by our view. The ocean was out our door. We watched whales, waves, and kayaks, every morning and sunsets in the evening from our patio. We were so busy having fun we forgot to call the number for us to use to ask for more water filters for the water pitcher.

Even a cooler was provided for our outings. Though snorkeling gear was provided we recommend being personally fitted so that your experience is successful. The locals told us the end of May to October are best for snorkeling beaches when the water is calmer. We were amazed by the power and beauty of large waves crashing against the rocks. Those who stay in the bedroom nearest the shore may want to consider bringing a pair of trusted ear plugs at least for the first night or two.

The location was handy for shopping and eating. Even beaches were nearby. Walking is doable but a ways for those not wanting to walk or take the time since the distance is not immediate. We appreciated the privacy out of the hustle and bustle of tourists and town.

This was our seconde time at the complex and first time with this unit. It is a fabulous place to stay. The kitchen is fully equipped and granite counters a dream. The position of the condo makes you feel like you're floating over the ocean and it was wonderful to fall asleep to the sound of ocean waves. Centrally located, and quiet, we will definately be back. Great place to stay in Kona! Susan and Chuck

Peace, tranquility and a home away from home.

Left on 10/29/2012 for a stay in October 2012

My husband and our two children recently stayed at this condo and it was wonderful. The condo is very well appointed with everything you could need for a day at the beach as well as what you need to cook a full meal. The view is spectacular and was definitely my favorite part of this condo. We slept with the lanai doors open and were lulled by the rythmic sound of crashing waves. Everything was clean and well cared for. I will definitely be staying again.

      Great Location

Left on 06/20/2012 for a stay in June 2012

This condo has a fantastic location just above the surf with a large lanai. We ate all our meals out there.

We were worried about the lack of a\c, but the condo cooled off very quickly with the sliding glass doors open.

The condo also included boogie boards, beach chairs, a couple of ice chests and other recreational items.

Nothing about the condo looks fancy, except maybe the granite counters in the kitchen, but everything was clean and in good working order. The bed was not very comfortable, nor was the furniture, but it was adequate

Great place to enjoy the Kona Coast

Left on 04/29/2012 for a stay in April 2012

This unit has a superb location, the view of the sunsets over the ocean is terrific and the sound of the waves rolling against the rocky shore line makes a great background noise when going to sleep.
The unit is very well equipped, even beach and snorkel gear is provided, the kitchen will suit even serious cooks.
Well maintained. One issue was that the screen door system needed replacement. We have been advised by the owner that this was replaced the day after we left.
Would love to stay here again.

If you want to be by the ocean, you can't get any closer than this second story condo with great views. We spent a lot of time on the large lanai watching the surf break right below us. It is a great spot to watch sunsets. At night we slept with the door open so the ocean could waves could lull us to sleep. There is no beach right there, but they are beautiful ones close by. The condo's kitchen is well appointed and stocked. This pace is perfect for couples or a family with two small children. The grounds are beautiful. The pool is pretty big and there are nice tennis courts if you want to play.

We had a fabulous vacation and your condo 1203 was a major reaso

Left on 02/19/2012 for a stay in February 2012

From each of our first steps into the condo, we were overwhelmed with the condo and most certainly, the view! We used the lanai bedroom and it was so good to just walk out every morning. Whether having a cup of coffee or lunch/dinner, my favorite was enjoying an evening glass of wine with the waves playing against the lava rocks. The condo was superbly stocked with soaps, cleaning supplies, etc. The beach, snorkel, and sports equipment was truly used. Having the cleaning crew in after the first week was perfect and the girls were very nice and busy, busy, busy. One day it was quite blustery and the roll down screens were the perfect block. We all agreed with a number of 'repairs' that should be made: The screen doors should be replaced - tough to work or lock; The master bath could use a complete rehab. Of course the rehab would be pricey but very needed. I am specifically referring to the shower, floor, and baseboards. While you're in there the washer and dryer could be replaced. The kitchen floor could be replaced. The furniture throughout the condo fit right in the Hawaiian theme - very good. All of the appliances worked just fine. We liked the location - out of downtown but 10-15 minutes when we ventured there. I walk but my husband, daughter, and friend did lots of running and the gentle hills and the bike lane was perfect for them. We had a very good vacation and I am so glad we found your condo. Mahalo. "Beautiful & Loaded" Condo

Left on 02/08/2012 for a stay in February 2012

Unit 1-203 is beautifully decorated in island style, and the most well-equipped vacation rental I've stayed in. No need for the Swiss army knife here! This is all about crashing waves & glorious sunsets. If you're a germ-a-phobe like me you'll want to give the light switches a little disinfect. Housekeeping missed them before I arrived. A small disappointment in the larger scheme. Terrific place!

This is a lovely unit, with the entire rear of the condo (both the master bedroom and living room) overlooking the sea. The location of the complex is quite convenient, with shopping, including a big KTa grocery store, just a minute up the road (turn right out the complex and find the shopping center soon on the left). Very peaceful. Lovely green birds hang out around the grounds, which are themselves an archeological site. Highly recommended.

What a place to spend your vacation!

Left on 11/27/2011 for a stay in November 2011

Thor, you have quite the place here! As a guest we wanted for nothing, as you had thought of everything in advance. The condo was spotless upon our arrival, and your directions/insturctions were easy to follow. The Lani was great. We had every breakfast there, and watched almost all the sunsets from it as well. We enjoyed just spending days at the beaches (the condo had a supply of umbrellas, beach chairs snorkel gear, coolers and ice packs), or visiting some of the sights the Island has to offer. The spinner dolphins swimming past every morning, and then back every afternoon was great. Some of the sight we enjoyed were the Volcano's National Park, and the Greenwell Coffee Plantation, The Place of Refuge, and the Painted Church. Your binder of suggestions was certainly a great help, as we didn't really know what there was close by. We are already thinking our return visit next year! Thanks again for your hospitality,

Thoroughly enjoyed our 12 night stay. Unit 1-203 location is very near to the shore with the constant sound of the surf on the rocks. Huge lanai is the place to be especially for the sunset hour. Unit is open and well ventilated by ceiling fans (lack of a.C. was absolutely no problem). Left on 06/15/2011 for a stay in May 2011

We loved our condo. It was beautifully maintained and outfitted with every possible thing. Even more important, the condo had fabulous views. Nothing can compare to sitting on the balcony or sleeping in the bed with the waves crashing on the nearby shoreline. The skyline as absolutely quiet--no planes or loud noises whatsoever. The condo did not have air-conditioning but it had fans everywhere. During our visit, we did not need the ac at all and we like things cool

I would recommend using a condo rather than a townhouse. The views were better and the condos are better maintained.

This was a beautiful condo. Everything one could want has been provided with extras to boot. Ocean view and the sound of the surf was fabulous. Overhead fans provided adequate cooling. Only one fault: the floor really needed a good scrubbing; it was clean in the middle but very dirty around the edges and outside the traffic zones. I have sent Thor a postcard regarding that issue. I have tile floors and use a Hoover Floor Mate Hard Floor cleaner. It has rotary brushes to clean and also vacuums dry. Works like a charm. I recommend getting one of those at Costco for this place! Other than the floor, the condo was very clean and well furnished. We liked it so much we'll be back for sure - maybe in October.

Snorkeling is close by and we saw whales from the lanai everyday. The shopping center/grocery is just down the street and many good restaurants nearby. If you like what you see in the photo you won't be disappointed.
Although the description indicates six people might stay here, I would suggest only four.

We did the "Big island circle" arriving in to Kona, drove to Waimea and spend first night in Hilo, then to the condo in Keauhou, we arrived at night and felt welcomed. There was already some windows open and a small light, and the ocean breeze was very relaxing. We had breakfast and dinner watching the ocean and wonderful sunsets almost every day. During the day we opted to go either south for snorkeling 9vaptian Cook area nt to miss !!) or coffee @ the Kona Plantations or historical places (don't miss the place of refuge or the painted church) (about 30 min away);or We stayed around (magic sands for sun bathing and boogie boarding; or the beach park next to the outrigger (about 10 min or less walk) for snorkeling. Or we drove an hour north to the white sand beaches of Mauna Kea and Hapuna (the kids favorites). We had a great time, saw dolphins turtles and a glimpse of a whale.
It is a short drive to kailuea-kona town too. The place was clean and well decorated with all the basics that helped us enjoy our stay. Special thanks for the boogie boards, umbrella, chairs and cooler

      Awesome Oceanfront Get-Away!

Left on 12/30/2010 for a stay in December 2010

My boyfriend and I enjoyed staying at this condo very much! The pictures give an accurate account of the condo and we appreciated that it wasn't too flowery or cheezy in its decor. The unit was clean when we arrived and the cleaners came once as well while we were there.

We spent a number of our evenings having dinner on the lanai and listening to the waves crash on the lave rocks below. We both really enjoyed falling asleep at night to the sound of the waves.

We didn't use the second bedroom at all but it was well laid out with two twin beds so it would be perfect for a family of four or a couple and two friends or three friends traveling together - you'd have to flip for the big bed ;)

The lanai was the highlight of our stay. It is very roomy with a table for four to have dinner as well as two lounge chairs for sitting and enjoying the view. They also have a very handy drying rack on the lanai for swimsuits and towels etc.

The condo itself is very well located and there is a small mall just up with the road with a grocery store, coffee shop, movie theatres and a few restaurants. You can also walk about 15 minutes north along alii Drive to the snorkelling beach. Easy access to Highway 11 and far enough from alii drive to miss all the sounds of the traffic making it a very peaceful place to spend your holiday. The Bbq's are also located right across from the unit so it's very convenient to cook out and carry the food back up to the lanai.

I am very grateful to Thor and his wife for providing us such a wonderful place to spend our vacation. You have put a lot of care and attention into your condo and it shows. Mahalo!!

Can't beat the view in this well-appointed condo

Left on 10/10/2010 for a stay in October 2010

As soon as we threw the doors open to this place, the view took our breath away. The pictures don't do it justice. You wake up in the morning and look out to the water and watch dolphins doing backflips. Pretty phenomenal. On the good side, I would sa:

      1. View. Already mentioned that. Had to mention it again.
      2. Close to town and beaches (less than 20 minutes from most things)
      3. Amenities were awesome: from the grills available (which we used to make steaks) to the stuff in the kitchen to all of the beach gear...this place had everything. Even a cooler which became a lifesaver for taking out to the beach.
      4. Granite kitchen countertops, modern furniture...

The only two things I would fix are:

      1. There was one day where air conditioning would've been really nice. It's not that it gets too hot (as there is a nice breeze that comes off the ocean). It's just humid and a/C's good at removing humidity.

      2. The floors weren't particularly clean. As requested, we took off our shoes to walk around, but it made our feet as dirty as if we had been walking outside barefoot.

I've been to the Big Island twice now, so when I come back to Hawaii, I'll likely stay at another island, but when I do make it back to the Big Island, I'm definitely going to look this place up!

Great location at the south end of alii Drive. We were quite impressed with the value of this condo--great price for everything that it had. Left on 08/14/2010 for a stay in August 2010

Great place considering location (Tropical Island), secure, roomy, clean, well equipped kitchen. Smooth check in and check out. Trouble / bother free!
This was the first time we've done ocean front though. Good view from lanai, but was very hard to sleep at night if you are in the living room next to lanai due to the sound of crashing waves. With that said, if you are sensitive to noise I would think twice. There is some room for improvement too. Nothing major, yet some worn out furniture out on the lanai (arm chairs) and rusted telescopic pole of a soap/shampoo holder in the shaver next to the living room. Toilets you can live with, but I would replace them with newer more water efficient / water sense type. Go green!
      Overall we were all pleased.
      Thank you very much!

Left on 05/09/2010 for a stay in March 2010

My wife & I have stayed in other condos in Hawaii, but none made us feel like home as much as this unit did. It seems like it was built to be a home – not a rental unit - and the owners of this unit have made sure that a lot of little things (e.g. laundry soap, kitchen spices) are in place to make your stay more comfortable.
As far as the unit itself, it is very spacious, wonderfully decorated, and well maintained. It is right on the ocean with a huge wall of glass across the whole back facing the ocean. Behind the wall of glass is a very large lanai (porch). Half of that back wall is the master bedroom (which can be opened to the adjoining living room), so you can fall asleep listening to the surf pound the lava shoreline just outside. Very relaxing. And the spacious grounds were beautifully maintained with tennis courts, a pool, and barbecue facilities. Definitely made our week on this island wonderful.
A side note to help folks considering other units in this complex. There are two different sets of buildings here – those numbered up to 199 and those numbered from 1-101 to 9-306. The first group is a different style from this unit, so our comments above would not necessarily apply. Our unit was in the second type of unit type of unit. For these units, the first digit is the building number (only buildings 1 through 4 are ocean-front); the second digit is the floor (second and third floors afford slightly better views), and the last 2 digits are the unit number.

unit doesn't live up to location

Left on 04/28/2010 for a stay in February 2010

Great location, nice floor plan with main bed next to lanai,BUT floor was dirty in
places, the glassware was dulled by hard water, the kitchen cabinets need
replacing, the main bath was outdated, stained, cramped, the bed was
uncomfortably hard(we bought egg-crate pads) and the towel rack out on the
lanai was filthy. Also, the TV was not in a good location for viewing.
Most of these things could be easily dealt with
I might add that the pool was nice in that it is bigger than average and
allows for lap swimming. The BBQ area was convenient and equipment worked
      fine.
We would consider staying here again if above issues addressed.

      Wonderful Condo for Relaxing Vacation

Left on 04/15/2010 for a stay in April 2010

We received clear, accurate, punctual and professional confirmation on renting the unit from the owner.

We needed to make some adjustments to our plans and he was more than gracious with us for the changes.

Upon arriving after 3 planes and 30+ hours of traveling we were delighted to find a picture perfect condo. Everything was exactly like the website stated and more. The resort is clean, quiet and very private.

We absolutely plan to return to Hawaii and we will plan our days of stay around this units availability!

Thank you for providing in your unit every imaginable gadget one could need from the kitchen utensils to the beach supplies, all for our convenience.

Beautiful condo, great location, lovely vacation!

FANTASTIC VIEW !! Condo has great layout and was quite comfortable. Upon arrival, we were quite disappointed with the overall cleanliness of the unit. Given we are asked to pay a cleaning fee up front, I expected to arrive to a shiny clean condo. Not the case - we had to do a bit of cleaning ourselves before we put our stuff away for our stay. Other than that, the condo could use a facelift. It's a great location and assumed to be well used. A fresh paint job along with the replacement of some rusty items would make a huge difference! Overall, we enjoyed our stay there.

      Great Condo

Left on 01/24/2010 for a stay in December 2009

Everything was as described in the ad, right on the ocean. It is a ways from Kona but we found that was fine as there really isn't much to do in Kona anyway, just a lot of souvenir shops. There is a mall close by for any groceries or other things you may need. We didn't find the lack of A/C an issue as the breeze at night cooled things off. Very nice condo, the only thing we didn't like was the laminate flooring in the bathrooms seemed dingy. Not sure why they wouldn't have just extended the tile into the bathrooms, but that was a minor issue.

      Best Condo

Left on 01/13/2010 for a stay in January 2010

This was the best condo we've ever stayed in. We've been vacationing in Kona off and on for 30yrs. All communication, directions and discriptions were exact.
I really appreciate the lawn chairs, mats, towels all the equipment and coolers. The beds were comfortable. The bathrooms well supplied and there were enough spices in the kitchen to cook in, if you wanted to. We did grill, once right, across the parking lot.
The view could not be beaten, fantastic! The location was super.
The kitchen cupboards and drawers could use a little attention. That's very minor compared to the plus of this condo.
      We can't wait to return.
      Thank you.

What an incrediable vacation. The condo was SO beautiful, we hardly felt the need to leave it and explore the island. To have the sound of the ocean put you to sleep at night, and the breathtaking views in the morning was more than we had hoped for. We were very thankful to be on the second floor too, as it both allowed for an unabstructed view of the ocean, and also the piece of mind that the waves would stay where they belong! The condo was set with every appliance, spice, and toy we needed. The pool was warm and clean, the grounds were beautiful, and we were only minutes away from great boogy-boarding and turtle-filled snorkeling beaches. Thank you for an amazing family experience!!! We'll be back =)

A very relaxing place to stay

Left on 11/24/2009 for a stay in November 2009

This condo met and exceeded our expectations. It's bigger than it looks
from the pictures online. Everything you could wish for is in the kitchen
(except I couldn't find a kettle to make tea with...so I used the microwave).
Waking up to natural light, going to bed with the sound of the ocean so
close- it was all great. The condo is clean, and very well equipped. No air
conditioning, so it might be hot in the summer(?) but we found the breeze
and the ceiling fans kept us very comfortable at night. The property is well
maintained, and directions for check in and check out were very
straightforward. We thought the value for our cost was very good,
especially as we were not in the high season. There is a shopping center
very close by, so it is easy to get what you need without a long journey, but
at the same time, the location is far enough out of town to make you feel
like you are not in tourist central. It's a great location to have as a home
base, as it's very central for touring the island (lots of driving wherever you
stay on Hawaii to see everything). Most mornings there were dolphins just
offshore, and there is a nice snorkel spot very close by to see lots of fish
and turtles. The only uncomfortable moment was meeting an
extraordinarily large cockroach on the patio- but that's a tropical
environment for you! The hardest part of our stay was coming home. If we
go back to Hawaii, we'll certainly try to stay here again.

The pictures do not convey how exotic this condo is. Only feet from the ocean, walking distance from tennis, pool, and secure parking. This condo is on the second floor which gives a beautiful view and privacy. No need to close the window blinds ever! Everything is provided, even tennis rackets and beach equipment. The condo management was excellent in giving assistance and move-in instructions. Only thing we can think of that could have been better is my wife would have liked a "softer" king size bed.

Beautiful Condo to match the Beautiful Location

Left on 10/22/2009 for a stay in September 2009

Our family of four arrived after a 24 hour transit to the comfort of the condo. If is so well decked out with everything that you instantly feel relaxed and at home in your surrounds. The location right on the beach is great and close enough to all you might need/want to do. The local trolley is fun and quick if you want to leave the car for the day. Hawaii is an unreal island offering so many different things to do, the snorkelling at the beach next door is good and the dolphins that cruise pass the lani each day is a bonus. We loved everything about our stay at Condo 1-203, we only hated leaving. But we will return one day. Too nice a spot not to.

If you love to hear the sound of the waves crashing against the shore this place is for you. The condo has a nice sized kitchen as well as living area, plenty of room for a family, and very nice for just two people.
The condo complex was very quiet during our stay and the ocean is just a "stones throw" from the unit.

The condo is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, and is very close to the BBQ area.

The only thing that was some concern to us was the firmness of the bed in the master bedroom, but overall we loved the condo.

      Beautiful Hawaii Condo

Left on 10/14/2009 for a stay in October 2009

We just got back from a great vacation in Hawaii. We stayed at Aloha condos' Kona Surf & Racquet Club, unit 1-203. It is a beautiful 2/2 unit with unmatched views and great amenities. The kitchen is large and very nice, utencils are plenty and the stackable washer and dryer is a larger size and works great. The CA King bed is very comfortable and the unit offers books, games, coolers, beach chairs, and snorkel gear for renters. Very nice! We were a bit unlucky that the weather was very hot and there was very little wind. This made the unit quite warm even at night with all fans on high speed. A few bugs found their way in, but nothing a quick spray would not take care of. Very nice unit, highly recommend. Great location.

We had a wonderful stay here. The condo is perfect. The location is just right. A short drive to town 5 minutes. Trolly is availabe also if you don't want to drive. The grocery store is about a 2 minute drive up the hill. Easy to walk too if not carrying too much back!
The condo grounds are beautiful. Very clean and well cared for. The tennis courts are fine, and the pool has just had improvements made. Both are very nice. The grilling area is nice and clean. Several tables to sit at in the covered area. The ocean side is awesome. The surf crashes against the lava rock, and little coves along the shore. We have never seen such a beautiful sunset as from the patio. We spent a lot of time watching different kinds of boats passing by.
The inisde of the condo is beautiful. Very bright and clean. Everything has been thought of. Even the light switches had labels! Very comfortable furniture inside and on the patio. All kinds of fun beach toys, books, movies, cds.

Great condo in a magical location

Left on 08/08/2009 for a stay in July 2009

It was a very difficult choice to get a condo that satisfied all our requests of being close to the main attractions in the area of Kailua Kona, yet quiet and near the oceanfront with a view. The hotels charge just too much and after looking many condos this one looked the best one.
All started with the owner allowing us to rent onlz for 4 nights when it should be 5 nights minimum and the instructions given afterwards were always clear and perfect.
When we got there, everything exceeded our expectations: the spaciousness, the lanai, the ocean views, the sound of the waves crashing... it was a true Hawaiian dream!! And the town is only 10 minutes away, the most beautiful snorkeling spot is 15 minutes away, bot the more crowded yet amazing Keahou Bay was around the corner!!
On top of all this the unit was extremely well maintained, kitchwn very modern and well equipped, quiet at night and had all the gear we needed for the beach was there... so it was such a better investment than going to a hotel or even a B&B... and it was clearly one of the best condos around!!
Would definitely come back again here when we return for some more Big Island adventures!!
Recommend it highly for couples or families (it had an extra bedroom we never used)!! Enjoy!!

From the smooth communication with the owner in the very beginning of our honeymoon accomodation search, to the easy check out, at this great location (close to many amenities), our experience with this condominium was beyond our expectations. Great ocean front views from many rooms, a fully appointed kitchen and recreation closet complete with many beach use type accessories, an outside BBQ area steps away from the unit -- these were just a few of the many features we enjoyed on our 10 day stay. Additionally, Keauhou was a great launching off point to many sights on the Big Island, along with an excellent micro-climate as well!

      Beautiful location, a little stuffy!

Left on 06/26/2009 for a stay in June 2009

The condo, itself, is absolutely gorgeous! It's spacious and has every amenity we could have hoped for in our "home away from home". The view is incredible, and watching the waves crash on the lava rocks was very mesmerizing. It's only 5 minutes from a grocery store, a drug store, and many restaurants to satisfy just about anyone's palate.

The only thing that we were not prepared for was the humidity/heat! We are from S.E. Arizona, and an 80 degree day is very pleasant! In Kona, 80 degrees with 80% humidity and absolutely no breeze was nothing short of oppressive! On that note, while the condo has ceiling fans in every room, it could use 2 or 3 on the lanai, and a screen door on the front door like all the surrounding condos. Chances are, although the condo and amenities were outstanding, the lack of AC will prevent us from staying here again!

Lastly, midway through our stay and until we left, remodeling started in the condo next door, and the carpet on the stairs was being replaced. We did not get the courtesy of being notified prior to or during our stay. We had driven to the East side of the island two days in a row, and had gotten back around midnight on both occasions, only to waken around 6:30 a.m. to sawing, hammering, etc. Prior knowledge of this may have had some bearing on whether or not we had chosen this condo to stay at. At the very least, a discounted rate would have been some consolation.

Loved this condo. It was comfortable, clean and quiet. The sound of the ocean lulled us to sleep every night. Had plenty of the essentials, including beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, and a blender. The huge lanai with comfy lounge chairs made it very easy to nap the afternoon away. During our second week, the weather turned a bit muggy, so air conditioning would have been nice, but we found an extra fan in the condo that helped a lot. The location is very convenient, right next to a shopping center, and a 5 minute walk from great snorkeling. Overall, highly recommended. Can't wait to visit again.

I would recommend it for adults or families with older kids. The rocky beach was a bit of a hike and the pool was small and on the interior of the complex with no view, but our ocean view from the unit was fantastic!

We really enjoyed our experience on the island of Hawaii. The condo was everything we had hoped it would be and more. It was 2 bedrooms with an ocean view. It was right next to a golf course that we played and enjoyed. All communication with the owner went well and he was very upfront about exterior maintenance that was going to be happening during our stay. He even gave us a discount due to the minor disruption. Facilities were clean and very well kept. My wife and I will remember this as a great experience and if on the island of Hawaii again would stay there in a heartbeat.

Left on 04/09/2009 for a stay in March 2009

This was the most comfortable, well-equipped, perfectly located, spacious vacation condo we've ever had the pleasure of renting. The owner was awesome, accomodating us at the last minute without a hitch. Loved the place the moment we walked in and saw the full ocean view straight out the lanai. The kitchen was fantastic and had everything we needed and then some; the bed was great and the linens were super soft. There was a small library of excellent travel guides and a fairly large selection of cd's and dvd's. (The music was great - we didn't watch any of the movies) There is also plenty of travel/sports gear available to use. We rented for the two of us but I would HIGHLY recommend this place for larger parties as well.

Some may have a problem with the master bedroom having only shoji screens for a wall between it at the living area; we thought it was fantastic and left them open at all times.

If you are looking for a nice sandy beach, you will have to walk next door to one of the best snorkel spots on the island, no big deal!

We loved the dramatic contrast of black lava, blue water and white foam as the waves crashed against the shore. It was gorgeous to look at a blissful to hear.

      Nice Place

Left on 04/03/2009 for a stay in December 2007

We stayed here in the winter. The day we arrived, the Islands had a huge storm. The unit downstairs was completed flooded. There were alot of workers, etc. there and the owners were very upset (understandably). We heard ALOT of their trauma from our unit. It made me feel fortunate that we had rented an upstairs unit, as I'm not sure what would have happened if we were anywhere downstairs. As for the unit itself, it was very clean, well equipped, and we loved the view. The ocean was so close and so loud that we actually closed the doors at times! We loved the birds and the black rock/ocean views from the condo. We liked the furnishings, an effort has been made by the owners to use authentic Island decor. The furnishings also included: a great tour book of the Island, picnic containers, and even some great Hawaiian music. The only drawbacks were: lanai a little dirty, but I'm not sure how one could keep on top of that in the winter. Also, screen in kitchen window had been compromised by some type of chewing animal. So be careful leaving any type of food out, as this is the islands.... We would love to go back and take our kids, as we found an excellent snorkeling bay within walking distance. It was unfortunately over run by tourists, but we timed our visit at the same time a cruise ship had a drop off.
My only regret is that we can't go back any time soon.
