Arlington washingtonOutstanding place and the resort staff we met were really super!
Left on 05/22/2013 for a stay in May 2013
The condo was more than I expected. It was all as advertised and more. Fred and Bonnie have done a very good job of making every thing so easy especially for someone who has never been to the big island before. The directions to the condo were straight forward and it made it so easy to find.the key box was a great set up. The location is great. Granted you do need a car to go everywhere but driving is so easy. The local beaches leave something to be desired. Just a little crowded but a drive north brings you to some good beaches including the state and local parks. There are just too many good places to eat but we found a for tie at Lava-Lava. It is a 35 mile drive but worth the trip. The island has so much to see and do that I thought 15 days would be plenty; not so.
The condo is fully equipped with every thing you might need and very tastefully decorated. In a word or to " we loved it".
All the best to both Fred and Bonnie.

ChinaWonderful family vacation
Left on 05/05/2013 for a stay in February 2013
We went on our first family vacation at Big Island in Feb. I feel lucky enough to find this amazing unit for a family of six. The entire unit is super clean and checkin process is easy. There are two huge bedrooms upstairs with two spacious bathrooms. There is another smaller guest room (big enough to have one twin bed and one single bed) on ground floor. Laundry is in the unit so that we can pack light for our 9-day trip. The owner is super helpful and provided us lots of information beyond our arrival. They also have quite a few guide books in the unit which comes super handy during our stay. There is a community pool right next door. We normally hang out there in early evening. The owner has lots of art decorations and we loved all their wall decorations. After their "inspriation", my mom loves all their arts and wanted to find similar pieced when she is back home. Kona coast is right next to the highway, although this unit is inside, so it's very quite during night. There are a shopping plaza within 10mins walk and you can find all sorts of food and supplies. We had an amazing sunset meal at Sam Choy (with recommendation from Fred!) to celebrate my father and brother's birthday. When we don't feel like eating out, we can simply cook in the house. It's fully equipped kitchen which we prepared some nice and basic meals. My family had a terrific time in Big Island and we will definitely go back again!!!

Pleasanton, CAFabulous in every way!
Left on 04/09/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We rented Fred and Bonnie's condo for Spring Break 2013. The unit was exceptionally clean and bright with plenty of space for everyone. We had another family who joined us for dinner on 2 nights and we easily had room for the 10 of us (and enough room in the kitchen for a couple of cooks!) The condo was particularly quiet since there is no one above or below and the adjacent condo shares only a small wall. The beds were extremely comfortable and the master bedroom/bathroom was so spacious with wonderful views of the ocean and sunsets from the lanai!
There were books, games, cards, movies and plenty of beach gear (we had beach chairs, towels and umbrella, coolers for food and a large drink cooler, snorkel gear and even a boogie board (we left 2 more there)).
There was plenty of storage space in the kitchen with everything you could need for cooking...we actually never went out to eat since it was so comfortable eating at the condo. The laundry area in the kitchen was a huge bonus as well.
As for the Kona Coast Resort, the grounds were well kept and the small pool/spa and tennis courts (tennis raquets/balls in the condo) were steps away from the condo but secluded enough to not hear any noise from them. There is a beach volleyball court, playground, shuffleboard and small basketball area in addition to the activity center with the larger pool/spa overlooking the ocean and small but adequate work out room. Although we never used it, they have dining on site as well as an activities desk to help book your tours.
Working with Fred during the booking process was so easy. The contract was clear and any questions were always happily answered. There was a local contact if we needed anything (we didn't). Our deposit was quickly returned after our departure.
We definitely plan on returning and would recommend 100%!!!

Can't say enough about this place, very spacious condo, everything we needed, well taken care of both inside and outside. This 3-bedroom, 3-bath fitted all our needs of actually being right at home. Family and friends over for a cook-out, great times together without running into each other. Pool right outside the condo, spent time there just relaxing and morning walks on the grounds of the golf course. Would recommend to friends & family. Glad we found this Hawaiian resort and hopefully will return soon!

ParkerChristmas week stay at Kona Coast Resort unit 7-106
Left on 01/13/2013 for a stay in December 2012
Our family of five spent Christmas week 2012 in unt 7-106 at the Kona Coast are sort. We had a great stay and we would gladly return. This particular unit is privately owned although it seems the majority of the units in the resort are timeshares. We found the unit 7-106 rental using Trip advisor.
The unit owners, Fred and Bonnie, were very good in terms pre-briefing us on the entire process. In the months before our trip we received multiple emails from them covering topics like final charges, cancellation policy, cleaning deposit, directions, checkin, checkout, etc. We encountered no surprises once we arrived in Kona.
The unit was great in terms of our needs. Three bedrooms and three baths for a family of five adults. We usually do our own cooking and this place was perfect. The kitchen had everything we needed. There's a super market and Longs Drugs within walking distance. The walk to the beach is about one mile. Shore access is even closer. This unit has air conditioning available for an additional charge. We neither used nor needed the a/C. There's a bit of an ocean view from the lanai but if you're looking for unobstructed ocean and sunset views without having to walk to the shore then this is probably not the unit for you.
The resort has numerous amenities that are available to the condo guests. These include bbq's, tennis, pools, sauna, rec center, and resort restaurant. We made use of many of these. There were tennis racquets and balls in the condo that we used. There's laundry equipment in the condo which we used.
To help expedite access for the next renters, you are asked to strip sheets and start laundry. We were happy to help. Shortly after our return home we received notice that our cleaning deposit had been fully refunded. Again, no surprises.
In summary, great stay and highly recommended. If we don't return to this unit again it would only be because we will not always need a three bedroom unit. -

The information on getting access to the condo was all explained in the correspondence prior to arriving. No hidden charges, everything was up front and spelled out.
The condo was very spacious for a 3 bedroom 3 bath residence. We did not feel crowded plus it was very quiet at night. It is only connected to another unit on one side.
Kona Coast Resort is in a great location. Stores are within walking distance. You can rent on site all your gear for snorkeling, boogie boarding, beach chairs, etc..
You can arrange all off resort activities also on site.
We had a great time and would rent this condo again. A great place for a very reasonable price. -

Booking was easy and Fred always answered my questions. The condo is beautiful and spacious (we had 7 adults). The "newlywed" couple had the gorgeous master bedroom. The kitchen served all our needs and the grill was practically right outside the door. Knowing we had a washer and dryer so available allowed us to pack a lot lighter. We found table games, books, tennis and pool equipment, movies, music and more at our disposal. Some were at the pool every night til it closed. We found great snorkel activities, restaurants, shopping, groceries, a church and a luau only minutes away. It would have cost so much more for us to come if we had to get hotels or multiple resort rooms...we couldn't have asked for a better accomodation!

Antelope, CAJust what we needed
Left on 04/14/2012 for a stay in April 2012
This unit is just what we needed for our family group of 4 adults and 2 teenagers. 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and plenty of other room. Master bath has a huge jetted tub and a shower. Great kitchen with plenty of dishes, pots and pans etc. The kitchen also has small appliances including an electric mixer which we used to make a birthday cake for one of the kids.
The view of the sunset from this unit's 2 lanais is very good. We enjoyed sitting on the lanai in the evening to watch the sunset and relax after hitting the beach during the day. The resort is close to a great beach for snorkeling and turtle watching. There is a tub of beach toys on the lanai and plenty of beach towels to take with you to the beach.
The unit has a very new washer and dryer which work well which is an added convenience.
The kitchen light burned out while we were there. We called the service number provided by the owner and someone came and replaced the light bulb almost immediately.
We really enjoyed this unit and will rent it again if we need a place in Kona. -

Your condo was the perfect place to escape winter and spend a few days with my brother and sister-in-law who drove over from Hilo. The furnishings and artwork created a wonderful Island ambiance, and everything contributed to a high comfort level. The sunset from the upstairs balcony was lovely. We all had plenty of privacy with the 3 bedrooms and the 2 levels, and also plenty of common space to enjoy each others'company. It was a great location for visiting the historic places, coffee farms, art galleries, botanical gardens, and beaches. You are on my list for a future visit, and I highly recommend your condo to anyone looking for an amazing stay on the Big Island.

Left on 01/23/2012 for a stay in January 2012
We have been to Hawaii several times and this was by far the nicest place we have ever stayed. The price was incredible for the condo! Clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated. We loved that it was stocked with everything we needed for our stay- guide books, beach towels, coolers, beach chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, boogie boards, snorkels, etc. The pool at the complex was also very nice. It is not walking distance to downtown Kailua-Kona, so you would want to have a rental car. We wanted to go to white sand beaches with our small children, so drove about an hour each day to the Kohala coast. But we are still happy that we stayed where we did- we thought it was a much more authentic Hawaiian experience than staying in a self-contained mega-resort (and more affordable). We enjoyed snorkeling, going to the Place of Refuge, and dining out in Kona. We would return to the Big Island just to stay at this incredible condo again!

Not sure what the 'service received' means?
The home had great space for 6 friends to feel comfortable. It suited us very well.
Liked being close to the local stores. Easy walk to the main pool/cafe. Not far to drive into Kona. Outdoor bbq was very handy. The a/C system controls took a little getting used to :) but we got it!! The a/C in the twin bed room needed servicing while we were there. That room could use more bedside lighting and extra dresser also.
The best part was we felt 'at home' :) -

This was the very first time our family stayed in a privately owned condo, so we were a little apprehensive on arrival: would everything be as perfect and nice as in the pictures? Well: everything was! Fred and Bonnie have created a lovely home away from home for you. The condo is very well equipped, you can find everything you need for a family there: lovely big kitchen, pool-playthings, washer and dryer etc. The condo is light and spacious, and though they have added lots of personal touches, it felt like ours within minutes (our son started laying out the table within the first 15 minutes because he found it so cosy...). The resort was very quiet when we were there, so that meant enough space in the pool. We recommend prebooking the airco in summer, we were glad we did! Communication about booking/checking in was very good: mails with deatils about pay, checking in, and questions were quick and clear. For us it was the holiday of a lifetime!

This condo was great! The accomendations were plesently better than expected. We stayed 6 nights and then were going to Hilo for the last 3 nights. That other place was so bad that we contacted 7-106 and asked if we could come back for our last 2 nights and they accommendated us. What great service! We mentioned a couple things that needed attention when we left and they were already fixed when we returned. We couldn't have been more pleased. The pool is conveinently located right across the parking lot. The condo listing does give the impression a garage is available for use but isn't. Be sure to opt for the a/C because hi is humid and warm. Each room has its own a/C with its own controls which is awesome! The patio and dining set is different and better than pictured. I hope we get the opportunity to come back!

This condo is wonderful. It is beautifully decorated, scrupulously clean, and well appointed. Everything we needed was there, except food - which is only a few blocks away. The Roku box is a nice touch - the kids could stream Netflix all they wanted. There are more than enough towels, sheets, extra pillows, etc. There are even kid beach toys, snorkels, etc. We will definitely stay at this unit again in the future.

Glendale, CAGreat value for a group
Left on 07/15/2011 for a stay in July 2011
With 3 bedrooms (+ sofabed), kitchen, laundry, pool toys, and local interest books, this is definitely a better value than 3 hotel rooms. The condo is across the street from a pool, near the most popular snorkel beach, and not in the frenzy of downtown Kailua-Kona. The partial ocean view included the setting sun framed by palm fronds. It is well-situated for exploring the Kona coffee farms or bypassing downtown to get souvenirs & gas at Costco.
The owners were very helpful and are justly proud of the art on their walls. We usually ate breakfast in including Kona coffee and farmers'-market fruit. (Mangoes have more flesh than on the mainland, and tiny apple bananas are a delicious 3-bite snack.) If we didn't want to go to a restaurant, we could get take-out from L&L; Hawaiian fastfood in the shopping center across the highway. (Also has supermarket, drugstore, & cinema.)
The price does no include A/C, but the local manager can provide access if needed.Response from Aloha Condos - 07/18/2011

We thank Jim W for those very kind comments. We would add to his comment a small correction in that the A/C charge is currently $15/day and that the A/C can be turned on at anytime during a stay by contacting our local manager.

We just returned from week's stay in this wonderful condo and wished we didn't have to have to leave. My husband and I stayed took our Moms, one who had been to Oahu before and the other had never been to Hawaii. The condo is beautifully decorated/furnished and maintained, and very well stocked with everything you could possibly need for an island stay. We appreciated the ice chests, beach equipment (towels, boogie boards, umbrellas, etc.), books, herbs/spices and ktichen equipment. The complex is very quiet and well maintained. The quiet pool and a hot tub is just stone's throw away. My husband and I enjoy snorkeling and visited Kahalu'u Beach Park, which is less than 5 minutes away, several times. It's a great snorkeling spot! A grocery store, Longs and restaurants are close by in the Keauhou Shopping Center. We enjoyed a great meal at Kenichi Pacific (sushi & Japanese fusion cuisine) there. Overall, our favorite thing about the condo was the privacy and quiet feel. I honestly can't think of a single negative thing about it. If you choose this condo you will not be dissapointed!! We will definately stay there again the next time we visit the Big Island. (We are planning a visit to Maui next year for our 20th anniversary and wish Fred & Bonnie had a condo there as well!!)

This condo has everything one would want in a vacation home. It is beautifully decorated and in a great location within the resort. The pool, tennis courts and BBQ are a stones throw away. We took great pictures of the magnificent Hawaiian sunsets from the upstairs lanai. Three fresh fish meals were prepared (mahi mahi and ono we caught deep sea fishing) in their well stocked kitchen. We ate breakfast every morning on the lovely lanai and relaxed here many evenings. We would definitely recommend this fabulous condo to our friends and family.

Four of our family members stayed in Fred & Bonnie's beautiful condo for 9 days in early March 2010. It made our trip truly delightful. The rental process and securing our key was a snap. The condo is spacious, convenient, very well stocked, comfortable and what we all considered having the "true Aloha" feeling. We spent as much time on the large lanai as in the house...coffee & tea in the morning, reading, relaxing & listening to music and cocktails in the evening. The artwork and decorations added an authentic spirit of old and new Hawaii. Having 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms was an added luxury we all enjoyed and the rental rate was the best bargain I have experienced in many, many years! As you may be gathering, there was nothing left wanting in any way...we even had partial views of the ocean; what more could anyone ask for. Thank you Fred and Bonnie for making our long awaited trip an absolute joy!

Maui before, and many other places in Australia, Europe, Canada, and the
U.S., but this was the nicest place the four of us have stayed, particularly as
we prefer to make most of our own meals, and also like the privacy of a
condo rental as compared to a hotel.
The rooms are large and comfortable; the kitchen and the rest of the condo
have about every amenity one can imagine; it is very clean; the bathrooms
are large and beautifully updated; it is tastefully decorated with local
artwork displayed throughout; and there is a large porch or lanai (where we
would take breakfast at dawn), that has a great view of the ocean and the
perfectly maintained gardens at the Kona Coast Resort.
The facility is close to, but not inside, the city of Kailua-Kona, and has
nearby shopping available. This location also provides an excellent base for
visiting the many attractions and activities up and down the western coast of
the Big Island. (Where there always seems to be a sunny spot to find, if you
look for it. We like to visit beaches and take 2-4 hour hikes.) I don't think
we could have asked for a nicer location or facility. You can't go wrong
here.
In addition, the local representative was very helpful with our getting
situated upon our arrival. Both he and the owners were also very helpful,
understanding and considerate on the morning of our checkout, when we
were jolted out of bed at 5 or 6 AM by tsunami warning sirens, following the
earthquake in Chile the day before. They offered the possibility for us to
stay over if need be, should the tsunami create a disaster, or make it
impossible to take our flight later that day. While we waited and watched
with thousands of others for 'the big wave', in the end it never materialized,
and we went on our way as planned. Nevertheless, we greatly appreciated
this act of thoughtfulness. -

This condo has everything you could possibly need or want on a vacation. If you like to have the option to stay in and cook, the kitchen has every essential you can think of and then some (there is also a grill right outside). All the conveniences of home with a Hawaiian twist. There is a GORGEOUS lanai (outdoor patio) with a table for sharing meals and conversation - complete with tiki lights for the ultimate Hawaiian feel. There is a full grocery store within minutes and at least two local markets right nearby as well where you can get fresh fruits, vegetables etc. If you like to go out, there are plenty of restaurants close by and the owners even have a book of restaurant recommendations and descriptions (along with things to do, etc). The condo is centrally located in Kona yet the grounds are lush, peaceful and tropical. It's situated on a golf course on the water with impeccable grounds. There are several swiming pools and they are never crowded. Perfect for families or couples looking for peace and quiet since there are several options to pick from on the property. I can't think of a single negative thing about our stay except it wasn't nearly long enough! I would higly recommend this condo. It's gorgeous, it's clean, it's comfortable. It's the perfect Hawaiian get-a-way.

The setting and location were wonderful. The condo had everything we could possibly need for cooking, going to the beach, playing tennis, making fresh squeezed juice, blending fruit drinks, grilling on the grill, playing games, books for reading, etc. Another couple went with us and enjoyed it as well as we did. It was very spacious and comfortable, as well as the beds being comfortable. We liked everything about it. There was nothing we didn't like. We would definitely stay there again.

The villa corresponded to the description very well. Clean, spacious, thoughtfully arranged ie. books, music discs, games, tourist info included, beach material, welcome basket - very nice touches. Should be added to your description as part of the package. Would add a map with details to the closest shopping mall and their working hours. We came at 11 pm after a 15 hour flight and wasted 2 hrs in the dark looking to buy milk and cereal for the kids for breakfast in the morning. For a fee may be you could do some basic shopping for late arrivals as we were? The entire resort was very quiet and very well organized. Will recommend without hesitation.

Staying in this condo made us feel like we were in our own home. The condo is beautifully decorated and sparkling clean. The furnishings are elegant yet comfortable. We were able to cook meals there every day, since the kitchen was well appointed, having everything we needed. The grocery store is conveniently located nearby. We stayed with two other couples, so each couple had their own bedroom and private bath. We started each day with a pleasant breakfast on the lanai. We appreciated the beach "toys" and supplies that were furnished and we enjoyed our days snorkeling at the nearby beach. Almost daily were were in the swimming pool which was right next door and enjoyed the privacy since very few people used the pool and hot tub there. The setting is very quiet and private. We look forward to joining our friends there again.....we highly recommend this condo as your home away from home in Hawaii.

While there is additional sleeping arrangements that would be adequate for children, the three full bedrooms with adjoining baths perfectly accommodated the three adult couples sharing the unit. Although the resort does not have it's own beach, a very short walk away there is an incredible lagoon perfect for sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling and the pool directly across the drive from the condo became a regular evening retreat. The little touches of artwork and outstanding added amenities beyond the norm provided by the owners made wine & cheese on the lanai following our dips in the pool into delightful evening events. Unobstructed views of breathtaking sunsets and active blow holes are another short walk from the condo. The resort is beyond a comfortable walking distance from Kona, so a car is useful if one wishes to utilize the shops and restaurants. The owners left directions to a number of their favorite places on the island - which turned into some of our favorites as well.

Thanks you for the privilege of living in your condo! We had a fantastic time. Everything was in perfect shape when we arrived and the area around the condo was wonderful - relaxed, well-maintained perfect for evening strolls. The whole atmosphere of the condo itself made it feel more like coming home than coming to a rental -- except better. Good taste! You have obviously put a lot of thought to making your guests comfortable and our stay rewarding.
As others have mentioned, your very personal "guide books" to the island were a big help in finding things we might otherwise have missed. We also loved having both a snorkeling beach and a good supermarket in easy walking distance (but not so close as to cause us any traffic).

The service was great. The Condo had everything one could possibly need. There was a leek under the kitchen sink, but it was taken care of immediately. I like the fact that there was plenty of space (very roomy)The decor was nice and the Condo was clean. The location was great; close to shopping and entertainment. I would love to stay in Condo 7-106 again on my next trip to the Big Island.

Manager
Bonnie and I are concerned that cleanliness got a lower rating, although it is mentioned by the guest that the unit was clean.
If there is one thing we pride ourselves on, it is the quality of the cleaning service that we have retained. Perhaps this was a lapse so we have forwarded the rating comment to the cleaning staff. We note that all prior reviews give 5 stars to cleanliness.
We are also pleased that the leak was quickly repaired. Breakdowns happen in any home and we are lucky to have a wonderful on-site manager to take care of problems.
Bonnie and I agree with the Alberda family that (whenever we visit this Hawaii home of ours) we think, wow this place is awesome. A refuge of quiet tropical comfort.

Our two small families of three (parents and 2 college-aged daughters) were very comfortable in this 3 bedrm/3bth condo. Every morning, we enjoyed the comfortable covered patio for coffee and breakfast, listening to the birds and ocean. In the evenings, we would end up in those same comfortable patio chairs again, discussing our day. Very quiet resort. Seldom heard the neighbors. We would definitely stay here again.
Reservation and arrival process: Very easy and efficient. They acknowledged the deposit and subsequent payment with plenty of detail in the statement. Prompt reply to our email asking questions. They provided excellent directions from the airport. Not hard to find and check-in was a breeze.
The condo: Very clean, well-maintained, fresh, and modern. Lots of windows and light. Beautiful art and nice furniture. Ceiling fans in all rooms. It is a fully equipped home--linens, towels, kitchen appliances, dishes & utensils, washer/dryer, tv, stereo, CDs, books, games, and beach toys. Truly, all you need to bring is your clothes and food! (There is a supermarket and drug store less than 5 minute away.) It took only a moment to figure out the a/c controls in each living area. There is a community gas grill just a few steps away.
Resort: The girls enjoyed the pools. We did not use other facilities, but the golf course looked great and we heard good things about the restaurant.
Location: On the west side of the island, so it is a bit of a drive southeastward to the volcano national park, or northward to a bay we wanted to visit for swimming. The condo is just a 10 minutes to a cluster of other resort hotels, some of which offer luaus.
Negatives: Hard to find any negative. Condo parking was a tad awkward, but near the front door. A disabled person could use the first floor bdrm/bath & kitchen, but would have difficulty with split level first floor to the patio & living rm, and of course, stairs to second floor. The area roads are good, but traffic stacks up. -

Very nice, would definately recommend. I really enjoyed the homemade folder of places to see and things to do, it helped tremendously. This was our first time to the Big Island and we utilized this folder many times. We also, enjoyed the added amentities. There was toys for our younger son and boogie boards for the older kids! It was perfect!

We stayed at Fred and Bonnie's condo in Kona. It was very nice. The condo was updated and very clean. The extras (kitchen equipment and supplies, snorkeling equipment, towels, etc.) were great.
We had one minor problem with an air conditioning unit. I called on the way out for the day and it was repaired by the time we returned in the afternoon.
We also had a unit from Shell Vacations in the same building and I'd go for Fred and Bonnie's every time. I'd definitely recommend staying there. -

The grounds were well kept, the condo was phenomenal, and the taste in decor, superb. We had an excellent time staying here, and definitely will come back. You will find nothing better on the big island. We also stayed at the Hilton hotel, and the Hilton (at 300 a night for 1 bed) only beat the condo in one area- better pool.

Aug 23, 2008
Dear Bonnie and Fred
We had a great time at your wonderful
condo. A lot of extras were very helpful for
us. This is our second time staying at Kona
Coast Resort. Your condo is much better than
the condo where we stayed last time. We want
to stay at your condo when we come to the Big
Island next time.
My daughters were very happy to swim in
the beautiful sea with many fishes and to see
turtles at Kahalu'u Beach Park.
One more thing. I was very impressed by
your hospitality. Every time I asked a
question by email you answered it very quickly
and your reply was always sincere and helpful.
Thank you for your friendly support.

Fred and Bonnie's Condo was the most FABULOUS place anyone could

Wonderful kitchen, living room, dining. Just EVERYTHING about it was
great. I have stayed on this property before, but , by far 7106 Fred and
Bonnie's has been the BEST. Fully equipped with everything. The
property is wonderful, great pools, jacuzzi's tennis, you name it they
have it. Plus it is only 10 minutes from downtown. You can drive the
whole island in a day. You are down the street from a main shopping
center.............the list goes on and on. Do yourselves all a favor , book
Bonnie and Steve's condo 7106, in fact play the number in the lotto!
It's a GOOD number :-)
